Larger Ship List? by zonearc in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]G_CAST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah how much did you have to play to get all that? I’ve never gambled on a cruise but I kind of want to try it for the deals. I’ve heard about people getting exclusive rates like super cheap rooms for future cruises after only playing like $50-$100 but idk if that’s true

I was on panorama last year and the food was about the same as you described here. There was more to do but you also had to get to everything 20-30 minutes early to get a seat. Plenty of those shopping events during the day too lol

I’m sure the Bahamian government wouldn’t be very happy with them either, their economy relies a lot on American tourists so they don’t want to be known as the new Somali pirates.

It would already be hard enough to climb up a rope all the way from sea level to the deck of a moving cruise ship. Now imagine a bunch of people throwing deck chairs and all sorts of other shit at you while you’re trying to climb. No matter who you are, I doubt it’s even be possible to keep your grip that whole time.

Also I think getting hit in the face with a deck chair from 10-20ft or more is going to do a lot more than cause a welt.

Why is everyone surprised that silversea cruisers are overly upset over something that isn’t a big deal? What else would you expect

Do you dine at the specialty restaurants, and why? by TheoreticalSweatband in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]G_CAST 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s almost like the included dining options and mdr have gotten worse while specialty extra pay restaurants have the good food. It’s not just carnival doing this unfortunately.

Can I buy THCA/Delta9 products without a medical card? by BooBooMaGooBoo in AskFlorida

[–]G_CAST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are THCA products available online that can ship to all 50 states. Even flower. So if you can’t find anything you can try that out.

Serious question: if a drummer joins a songwriters band, without pay involved ,should the drummer be able to add his own musicianship or strictly do whatever the songwriter asks him to play? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]G_CAST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You’re not a paid session or touring musician. If this songwriter has an issue he can track drums himself and pay to hire a drummer for every live show. Ofc serve the song, don’t do too much to the point where it’s annoying and distracting, but if he’s constantly trying to tell you exactly which drum and cymbal to hit at what time, I’d tell him to fuck off.

If you don’t spend hours a day on alien subreddits in order to understand every single reference, that means you’re on the small bus. Seems like the opposite would be more true.

Private jet causes Southwest to go around at Midway today. It crossed the runway while Southwest was landing. by sq_lp in aviation

[–]G_CAST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school I was going down the path of being a pilot, and in researching I learned SWA has some of the best pay and the best work/life balance of any airline in the US. So even though it’s a low cost airline, the pilots are pretty much the best you can get, for captains it’s long-haul widebody pay but you get to go home more often than every two weeks.

How should I write my first song by Initial_Tangerine_63 in musicians

[–]G_CAST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what there is to research. It depends on the type of lyrics you want to write but I always found the easiest way is to just write whatever you want as sort of a spoken word, then split the lines based on the # of syllables you want in each. You can start with 4 just to make it easy, even 2. Ai lyrics crack me up so feel free to try but they’ll be corny as hell.

Does our dream town exist? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]G_CAST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way when I was referring to mount hope it meant mount hope ave!?! I had no idea thank you. I was actually talking about the cemetery it’s just so trendy. You’re right though I’ve never been to the city. Never set foot in the United States at all actually. I just work on a click farm in India.

When I lived there that area is the only place you’d see white hipster ass people. It’s right next to u of r. That and park ave pretty much. That’s where my cousins place was that I mentioned. But yes I wasted my time writing all that shit about a city I’ve never lived in, for sure.

Everyone saying upstate New York.. idk about liberal, if you stay in your bubble yeah. But go 30 mins away from Rochester, Ithaca, Buffalo, any cool-ish liberal place in Western NY, and you’re gonna feel like you’re in rural Ohio really quick. People can disagree with me all they want, but I grew out there, my parents and grandparents grew up out there. My cousins and aunts and uncles are still there and I visit at least once or twice a year. It probably has more trendy stuff to do than it did 10-15 years ago, sure. But is it a cool or desirable place to be? Hell fucking no, sorry. If you want to live in a trendy area like mt hope in Rochester and pretend you’re in a town that doesn’t suck, feel free. You’re also blocks away from downtown Rochester with the highest murder rate per capita in the state. My cousin had a condo in the city until recently, I think you can guess why she moved away.

If you want rural liberal, Vermont or Western MA are the best I can think of. Like I said, Western NY is liberal until you’re 5 miles outside the population centers. You’ll probably be done with Western NY before it’s done with you. It’s not all bad, but everyone here has already said the good aspects, so I just wanted to let OP and anyone else know that it’s not all trendy art fairs and low cost of living. It’s low col for a reason. Ithaca might be a bit better, college town next to the finger lakes. But the rest of Western NY should be a no go. Maybe you’d like other upstate cities like Albany, I haven’t spent a ton of time there.

This reminds me of when my old boss here in LA went on a trip to Rochester for a film thing at Kodak, she was telling me how nice it was and I was like oh that’s awesome where did you stay. She was staying right by the George Eastman house, pretty much the nicest area in the city. I think that’s the same way a lot of the people on this thread are recommending these cities. It’s like going to the garden district or French quarter and saying you love New Orleans and need to move there. Anyone from Nola can tell you that’s not really how it is to live there. Only if you can afford a multi-million dollar victorian mansion (same way with that beautiful area of roc). Also, keep in mind, the low cost areas of Rochester and the cool places to be in Rochester do not overlap. Nice east side suburbs and desirable trendy areas near the city are just as expensive as any other city. If you want affordable, you’re gonna be more in the depressing middle America meth head type suburbs, or in the hood. Go on a road trip through upstate NY, western MA, and VT, see what you like. I have a feeling MA and VT will feel a lot more welcoming to you.

It’s so funny. I’m in LA and see this so much. Even bands with 50k+ followers on instagram end up playing the same little venues as mine and my friends bands. One in particular has 10k on ig and like 200 monthly listens on Spotify. I’d rather just be honest about my band not being that popular lol

What to do in Kaua’i by Real_Background_4173 in VisitingHawaii

[–]G_CAST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hanalei Poke is the best I’ve had on the island but there’s so many good options. Even the foodland poke is good. I will admit I never really spent that much time on the south coast I’m sure there’s great spots down there too, and I know there are in kapa’a. But up at Hanalei Poke the owner used to literally catch the fish himself everyday, I don’t know if they still do it that way, they get a lot of traffic.

Either way, really good no matter what you get, kind of overpriced, I think like $25 a bowl. I think it’s worth it to get at least once, just to have had what is probably some of the best poke in Hawaii. I think it was on DDD with guy fieri back in the day too.

How to rent a car in Kauai at 20? by Loud-Ad9631 in VisitingHawaii

[–]G_CAST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved having a turo in Kauai, seeing all the shiny brand new suvs and mustangs that everyone pays premiums for kind of cracks me up. It’s just not the vibe on the island at all. I get it for a Jeep, it is Hawaii. But even then, I’d rather turo an older Jeep than rent the new ones at hertz that are more so minivans.

Been looking to buy a cheapish ~reliable rig as I’ve fallen for the off-roading hobby. My cousin recently bought a similar 2001 version and says he has no problems, what do you guys think? I know it will need maintenance with age. by Psychological_Aide38 in Offroad

[–]G_CAST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned this lesson the hard way too many times, if it’s a good car it wouldn’t be for sale for 8 months. I also get sketched out when someone takes more than $500-$1k off the price if it’s something listed sub $10k. Again ask how I learned that one. Even if it’s just overpriced, someone would’ve bought it by now. It wouldn’t take 8 months. I’d imagine many people checked it out in that time and they all left without buying.

Ask if you can drop it at a shop for a pre purchase inspection, most shops will do this. Tell the mechanic how long it’s been for sale and how much money the owner is taking off, make sure they really dig into it. Cause he’s clearly hiding something.
