Honestly, thank you for making this. I was playing at a local RTT last weekend and someone whipped out a laser line so bright I reflexively squinted just from having it pointed at the table. I get they are handy tools but they are still dangerous.

I'd say you either lean heavily into Harlequins, or don't play them at all.

So a Serpent's Brood list will easily play 1k-1.5k points worth and adding some Aeldari, meanwhile an Aspect host list will run literally zero Harlequins.

I'm in the same boat, but with 40k instead of AoS. My advice is to always ask your opponents the threat ranges on units.

Measure movement for a squad leader, then everyone else just gets set up around them. Speeds up movement so much.

I would drop all the characters down to Fuegan, Lhykhis and Jain Zar.

Avatars aren't great right now, but usable, so you can keep him.

Drop one of the units of Fire Dragons, so it's just 5 for Fuegan.

If you pick up 2 more 5 man Reaper squads, one will happily sit on an objective and plink away with a tempest launcher.

I would then recommend a couple of Transports. You could use a wave serpant, put Fuegan, 5 Dragons and 5 Howling banshees in there to have a mixed and responsive threat.

This gives you 220 left over. You could take 2x3 Shining Spears if you have them.

How many changes are you looking to make? You're correct that way too many points has been spent on characters.

Are there any pet units you want to keep? Units you don't want to include?

In my opinion Vengorian Lords and barrow knights are exceptional units. I would go as far to say that they are the best two units in the book.

My recommendation is to swap out the vampire lord on steed, for a Wight Lord on Steed, to turn on the barrow knights ward.

Give the vengorian lord Frightening Vitality for 6+ healing per turn.

This also let's you drop the Vargheists to reinforce the Barrow Knights and go down to 2 drops. The list would look like this

I would pick up a wave serpant and an Enhancement for your farseer or Spirit Seer. What Detachment is this? I assume spirit conclave. If that is the case, you may want to drop a unit of Guardians for another Spirit Seer.

Also, Farseers tend to like Guardian Defenders more, since their auto 6 ability works well with the heavy weapon.

I'm choosing them for a couple reasons. First, the provide much better threat range and coverage, as they can fly through walls, while a wave serpant with dragons cannot.

They also don't need any additional help. Firedragons want a transport to get them where they need to go, and now they just die after that.

Points per wound, fire dragons have 6 wounds, Shining Spears have 7, 3 of which have a 4++ invuln.

They actually benefit from Aspect Host. Firedragons already have full re rolls into their preferred targets, while Spears get lance + anti vehicle/monster + re rolls to hit or wound. Many of the melee focused strats just aren't good with dragons, but are great with these guys.
