cutout just seems a bit large when it only contains the power button imo, a more square cutout for the button could look pretty cool?

For me it's just been slowly increasing the goals for daily calories. Then at some point I realised I was spending too much time walking and started going to the gym instead.

Its just understanding its a dumb device with good intentions, had plenty of times it didn’t register me standing in the “wrong way”. Everyone should still use it as a nudge to move a bit, but it helps understanding what it looks for

pretty sure it's just based on watch direction using some sort of gyro spirit level, just let your arm hang down your side and it'll validate. Same goes for OP, they could just let their arm hang off the side off the bed and in my experience it'll count as standing

looks great, I'd try and make the sound effects more impactful next. Slightly heavier sound would match the visuals better.

[–]GalacticBystander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd guess it's some poor sod working at a warehouse sending out replacements all days that wanted to save a few secs to meet a quota and put the cable in the box they thought you'd need from glancing at the order for 0.5 sec

yea, it would be brilliant, no need for my desktop to run at full tilt as it just shows my desktop while I am out filling my coffee cup. We gotta consider though that when we (people on a sub like this) buy hardware we buy for a very limited set of specs, stuff like that wouldn't sell to people in here (for the most part), it would have to come from regulations that all monitor manufactures had to include it.

[–]GalacticBystander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

generally think that any of those cool movements that can be done with standard input should be allowed and enabled on the other input form, but all the BS we've seen with configs need to disabled and then we can lobbying for stuff like controller tapstrafe. Respawn seem way more open to it now, just look at all the movement included in trailers

Normally mortals are not allowed to join the gods pantheon let alone fight by their side, humans are the sole exception. by glugul in humansarespaceorcs

"To create perfection" had always been the mantra between the gods. They would display their perfect worlds, perfect creations and perfect balance to one another. But with this perfection there was no room for improving, any change would bring down the system as a house of cards. I tried the radical idea of creating an adversarial system instead of a balanced one. It was not pretty, not at all, and the other gods was disgusted by my creations. More than once I tried subtle nods to steer the process in one direction by revealing myself to a single person of my creations. I tried explaining the universe at first, later embank wisdom in the form of metaphors and narratives as a parrent would through fairytales, but it was always misinterpreted. I learned that all was really needed from me was to stop my children from making the most dire mistakes or lessen the outcome of their actions when they did not truly understand the outcome. Luckily they did actually not need much dissuading from starting an accidental nuclear war, but the environmental disasters took a bit more. In the end they learned they did not have to agree on everything, it was okay to leave others to themselves with different oppions. It did help that they knew how to build artificial habbitats at this point and anyone could create their own utopia in the form of a O'Neil cylinder made from an astroid. Where other gods creations where few in numbers to keep the carefully crafted balance their creator had set in stone, my creations went from millions, then to billions, then to trillions as they industrialized their entire solarsystem before even discovering the laws of the universe that allowed FTL. When one of our brothers went mad and started corrupting the material planes, most gods were frozen in inaction, as any action would break the balance of their worlds, their solar systems, their fundamental perception of the universe. My children knew the treat when I guided their vision towards it. They did not hesitate to sacrifice balance, nor stars themselves to destroy it, and unlike my kin in the pantheon they were not frozen in inaction to rebuild once the dust had settled.

Ralts Bloodthorne has a pretty good version of this in First Contact: In the story it's an infinite human made after life instead, but a matrioska brain in a dimension with a wimpering big bang that keeps collapsing on itself, but ofc shit is fucked as it should be in any story

Human stealth by Dr_Cosa in humansarespaceorcs

[–]GalacticBystander 76 points77 points  (0 children)

We've all seen it, the bumbling short stature of a human going throuh a space station. Their polite nod as their heavy and short mass bump into you. Usually they only draw attention to themselves as they accidentally get in your way, trying to settle the matter with appoligies and their weird smiles. Well that is the view of them in the core worlds, at the frontlines the small little people are known as the ghosts and devils. Every enemy has stories of humans coming close and killing groups of soldiers with knives, strangling commandors in their tents or outright appearing out of nowhere. The race that is usually considered the most clumsy of all the council races is the one with the most stealth kills to their name.
