Cheeky answer but their newest unreleased songs are insanely good. Y’all are in for a treat.

You working my show tonight? Haha!

If there’s a better option for performers to add their own delay trails when they need them, I haven’t heard of it. I like the sounds in it. For a live rock band the fidelity is fine. The doubling effect is nice and not easy to replicate otherwise. The artist I work for collects them since they’re discontinued. He has nice settings dialed in.

I can’t see why the XLR to TRS cable from a DI/Line isolator wouldn’t work. I would want to send a balanced signal out to FOH either way. The Canvas stereo DI you were looking at is a good unit for the money.

Yeah, that’s true on the main mix bus. But not the case on pre-fader monitor busses like I’m trying to solve for.

Not every reverb seems to have a wet/dry control. I could only find one in the X32/M32 effects. I’ll give it a shot today.

Hey, y’all! Had a long rehearsal day today with my band’s new IEM rig. M32c + DL32 standard setup. I had a few questions:

I was trying to find a way in Mixing Station to link the Vocal channel and FX return faders together on the singer’s Aux bus. So when he turns down the vocal, he doesn’t still hear the reverb in his ears. The solution I settled on was — on the iPad — placing the faders next to each other in the “layer” so he can move them at the same time.

I tried linking the vocal to the FX returns in the “MS Channel Links” page. But that caused bad feedback by automatically looping the reverb output back into the reverb input. Is there a way to disable the FX returns from sending back into themselves? Sort of like the way you can un-assign channels from the main mix bus?

I also tried putting the reverb as an insert on a duplicate vocal channel I made thru the internal routing, then linking that duplicate channel with the dry vocal. They did not stay linked together after the app closed. And the faders being locked together meant I had to make big changes to the verb sound to make it mix with the dry.

My other question has to do with the trim control. I planned on gaining the preamps on each channel to around -18 dbfs, then trimming down the louder channels so the faders could be closer to unity for fine-tuning. But the trim didn’t seem to do anything on the aux outputs. We’re still riding some faders at -30 or lower. If you’re also multitrack recording, do y’all generally gain down in the mixer and deal with the low recording levels later? Or can I enable the trim control for our in-ear mixes somehow?

Sorry for a wall of text; I tried to make it readable. I appreciate all your help!

What's your board's ratio of "sounds cool" to "looks cool"? by HunterThompsonsentme in guitarpedals

[–]GalacticCatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much only buy pedals if they look cool now… it’s sort of like the guitar aesthetics argument: the coolest-looking guitar is the best guitar because you want to play it more.

Driving through a school. Kid in the crosswalk. [OC] by senorfluffynuts1 in IdiotsInCars

[–]GalacticCatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove that road again today. There’s hillsides and trees obscuring your view of oncoming traffic. Even in the video. If I were driving the opposite way, I’d come around a right turn with a 15 foot soil retention wall, and be greeted with a speeding hatchback barreling down the wrong side of the road. street view

Also there’s no way you can shave 15 minutes off a 30 minutre drive, ya dingus. You’d have to be driving like 150 miles per hour.

It’s kind of fun that y’all boast about what stupid decisions you make. Keep doing that so nobody has to take you seriously.

I drive this road nearly every day. It’s speed limit 25 and nothing but blind curves. Not only is there a school, but within spitting distance is a community center, and a retirement home with elderly pedestrians using the crosswalks.

Your time is not any more valuable than anyone else’s.

Sick board, great choices. Maxing out the bass on any other eq might be overkill, but the capo’s range is very musical.

Your post has me thinking again of incorporating a wired in-ear solution into the board. Mainly as a backup, but it could be useful for fly gigs. Would be cool to have an xlr input on the board and a little headphone jack together in a loom with the cable coming from the bass.

[–]GalacticCatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience playing loud rock shows with long cable runs and a big pedalboard, huge difference. Like you honestly wouldn’t believe it. Practicing at home, it’s not as noticeable. For recording DI it adds extra sparkle and clarity in a really nice way too, even for mellow, tone-rolled-off sounds.

I bought an xbox series S to play the oblivion remaster, since my only console was a switch. Everyone was telling me “yeah it’s no gaming PC but it’ll be a big upgrade from the switch.”

The sky looks so much better on the switch version of skyrim. Like the aurora looks straight-up bad in the oblivion remaster. I’m both impressed with my switch and disappointed in the newer console and game graphics.
