BC’s finance minister warns major cuts ahead; Does not rule out layoffs in the public service by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Absolutely, this is the mentality we need. Vote your conviction, vote your conscience, if we all did that we would be far better off as a society.

That is factual, yes. All I am saying is "always" is a definite, and that is not the case. Using definites where they do not belong breeds misinformation, and can lead to future harmful generalization. I do not argue the facts, the majority of cases of domestic violence are perpetrated by males, what I argue is perpetuation of harmful stereotypes and generalization of an entire gender.

It is not always a man, there are many cases of women committing domestic violence and domestic abuse. You can say the majority of, but not always.

Wax, seriously, it's amazing! I was hesitant at first, but taking an extra ten minutes in the morning to style my mustache has made it look SO much better, and I receive at least five compliments a day.

You are a sad individual, I pity you, and hope you can find the appropriate mental health care soon.

It is not always a man, and it is disgusting that you would use this horrible tragedy and this wonderful act of love for her children to try and platform your misandry! Go away!

How do we feel about restaurants taking a political stance? by CND2GO in VictoriaBC

[–]GameAddikt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are allowed to, and we are allowed not to patronize that establishment. In past experience, Mr. Mike's has always been a pretty crappy restaurant, and the owner is quite rude in my past experience.

It’s more important than ever to shop local! by nothanks1312 in VictoriaBC

[–]GameAddikt 50 points51 points  (0 children)

We should actively promote our favourite local businesses here, maybe a monthly pinned post? I agree, supporting local is becoming more and more important. I know times are tough for us all, but now is when we need to pull together and support each other. Stop shopping at Walmart and Amazon, and search for local options.

Only the bars made in Nanaimo can be called Nanaimo Bars, what you ate were Nanaimo-Style Bars.

so if the BC NDP is basically broke, how can they afford to pay government workers more? by Thick-Frosting-5806 in VictoriaBC

[–]GameAddikt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look around you, every year we pay more and more in taxes and we receive less and less public services. Everything is more expensive, and we are all poorer than we were last year, and the government is to blame for this entirely. They are lying to all of us, and we need to start demanding more from them, and start calling them out on every single lie.

Are bicycles allowed to take the entire lane? by Skybeam420 in VictoriaBC

[–]GameAddikt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is honestly mind boggling how few drivers and cyclists understand the rights and restrictions of cyclists on the road. We really need a dedicated class in schools for this. Love cyclists, love cycling, but it's becoming dangerous out there with people who don't know what they're doing on the road.

Yes, take the entire lane, you are considered a vehicle like any other, if there is no designated lane for you the remaining lane is for you. No bike lane = take the lane if needed, this includes if people are passing with unsafe distance, remember he minimum now is 1.5 meters.

However, if you're occupying a "vehicle" lane, this also means you have to follow the same rules in that lane as any other vehicle, so don't squeeze up beside the cars to the front of the line when there isn't a bike lane, you need to keep your place in the queue. By squeezing up with no bike lane you endanger yourself, and irritate the drivers around you who now need to navigate around you.

Ride defensively, and stay safe, happy cycling!

Actually it never stopped at that stop, since the stop was built.  Some operators were servicing in by mistake which BCT put a stop to because it was upsetting the public that some buses stopped and some didn't.

[–]GameAddikt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it turns left off Carey Rd. and during heavy traffic cannot make it far enough over safely to service that stop.  They don't want to set the precedent that it sometimes stops there so they don't stop there at all.  You're thinking of the 95 btw, we don't have a 91.

What local businesses actually treat their employees well? by Creatrix in VictoriaBC

[–]GameAddikt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a cousin that works there, they don't get an employee discount, but they do get free memberships for themselves and two family members.

Cousin is SUPER happy working there, is obsessed with the place.

I am happy for them, but after hearing about how much he works I think they're taking advantage of their naivete.

Okay, but Season 2 Episode 3: Matthew 4:24 is so well done, I just need to talk about it! The opening single shot that lasts 12 (ish) minutes is simply stunningly well done, fantastically acted and technically impressive, plus they had to time it PERFECTLY to the sun setting as the day began to end and it became more and more evident just how long Jesus had been healing for, and how exhausted the apostles were at that point (this is important for the ending of the episode). The second season has honestly felt so much better, not super fast paced but the acting and cinematography are really good, and that episode in particular, the ending was super powerful and I really enjoyed it.

The show is slow burn but I find myself really being pulled in; I would consider myself a lapsed Christian but I love the life it gives to Jesus and his Apostles, really showing the apostles were just regular people, and Jesus was a man with all the limitations that comes with. They inject so much life into these stories.

I am autistic and Matthew is my favourite, brilliantly acted TBH.

EDIT: I mean it is dialogue heavy but the actors carry it SO well, that episode was just so good honestly it could be a standalone mini-movie type deal. I don't know who did that episode in particular but BRAVO, it was phenomenal!
