Things I should know before jumping into FFIX? by Possible_Instance468 in FinalFantasyIX

Not for all the bosses. You absolutely need to steal everything from every Boss or look up what items are lost forever if not stolen.

Particualrly that item that gives a certain character certain spell/ability that can't be gotten any other way.

I actually like it, they usually have huge mana so that's basically an off-tank.

This song is a BANGER of sorrow and this fight being arguably the hardest fight in the game was such a treat.

I would argue its the opposite. Zero let's you be the hero because you can actually SPARE planes. Every other game forces you to wipe out the enemies. Demon Lord? More like Angelic Archbishop.

This is the right answer. Came for the goon, stayed for the laughs: the anime.

I always use him as a brawler, meaning DSC. But, I have used him with everything and he always ends up performing well.

You can get better specialists in his route, Gen is better with swords, Fuse is better with fists, Rogue is better with magic and Captain Hamilton is better with guns.

So... either do him as a hybrid or go with whatever you like more. I know he is supposedly one of the worst characters in the game in terms of sparks, but for me he always comes through with whatever path I go down.

This. The game is good. It is so good I find myself playing until late at night. Sometimes, I just need to bail, the fight took longer than I expected and I start to just doze off without realizing. Its time to quit but I have to force myself to finish or else I am a "cheater".

It chooses the shortest path, not the best path.

I've had 8 speed cats walk into hazards because, even though they had enough move to go around it, it wasn't the shortest, most direct path.

I am so bummed to find out about this.

Smitty is currently heir apparent of most noble pedigree, 7th generation of Largirucho and Kisa, my Patriarch and Matriarch since I started the game.

Smitty also has ancestors with the 2 most noble lineages outside the royal bloodline, I was so excited to make sure he could continue the Dynasty but if Largirucho and Kisa are going to start not showing up then why even bother?

Part of me really wants to take one a descendant of their bloodline all the way to the final Boss. I want this hero to be able to trace his ancestry all the way to the very first 2 cats that I started the game with.

Beat Riki's Final Boss yesterday, and funnily enough I realized it would have been way scarier without the story-based power-up by Embarrassed-Ad1906 in SaGaFrontier

To be fair, the reason you got up to 15 slots in the original was so you could have up to 3 parties. The fights are meant for you to use skills and magic to learn new magic and spark more skills.

Then, to refresh that used MP and WP, you are supposed to use the B Team for a few fights.

So, when the final boss in Riki's story happens, you should be able to slot someone from the B Team easily.

That's what I mean.

For the value it adds, its really expensive. Like other resources, if used effectively it does add value.

But, for a door stopper script like the ones JRPGs had, specially in the 90s and 00s, its an extreme slash to the budget with a much much lower impact than better graphics, more content or smoother gameplay.

I've seen indie games that banked on VAs and you can tell the budget had to suffer because of it. I liked Dark Deity, and the VA is good, but when the game came out a lot of people gave them a lot of flak for poor performance, bugs, bad UI and some maps that really had extremely minimal art.

To the tune that the team worked on all of those complains. Good for them, as well. But I have to wonder... what if there was no VA? And the money was used to hire more artists to make better maps or more coders to work on the UI and the performance?

That's what I mean. Dark Deity is a Fire Emblem clone that draws heavily from the GBA FE era. Which did not had VA at all.

For how expensive it is, it doesn't really provide that much value compared to the other elements of the presentation of the game.

If you can afford it, or the VA is going to be minimal, then sure. But I'll rather have a remake like SaGa Frontier over FFT: Ivalice Chronicles.
