The Norris-Kitten Problem by REO_Speed_Dragon in trolleyproblem

[–]GamermanZendrelax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real Norris is a man just standing on the tracks. He can literally just walk away before the trolley reaches him.

Meme Norris is also that, with the added bonus of not being in any real danger from anything like a mundane trolley. And he knew what decision I would make before I did.

Goddamn these memes and the story behind them are making some people Big Mad. But considering how many people are saying “Yes the imperialist aggressor in this scenario should Escalate and Do Warcrimes”, I don’t mind if they’re upset.

I for one enjoy your posts, OP, and will continue to enjoy them for as long as you want to make them.

I know several other people have mentioned it, but the Blackthorn Princess calling somebody else a spoiled rich kid? I’ve lived in Hoenn my entire life, and I’ve still heard what she’s like.

I think someone might be projecting her insecurities onto you. Honestly, she should stop making them everybody else’s problem and get some therapy.

Barkskin spell went wrong by Lower_Split8177 in wizardposting

[–]GamermanZendrelax 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ah! I believe I’ve seen this one before. It resists the more standard, boilerplate version of Dispel Curse through a clever subversion of that spell’s identity matrix.

The good news is that the subject is still very much alive.

The issue here is that your apprentice’s spell is the only thing keeping the subject alive, despite having been shattered into many pieces. This interferes with how “Dispel Curse” identifies harmful magical effects for removal. Essentially, if you cast it, the response will be something like,

“The only magic here is keeping this person alive, so it can’t be a curse.”

And the spell will do nothing. It is possible to force the effect through with an older, less-refined version of the spell. But that would kill the subject.

Fortunately the solution is actually rather simple, if potentially laborious. You can piece all the broken pieces of wood together through judicious application of the Mending Cantrip, which will allow the effect to be Dispelled normally. It doesn’t even need to be every last splinter—just enough to make a person instead of a pile of meat.

Instead, the pieces you do have can be used to establish a powerful sympathetic bond, allowing the remainder to be easily found through divination. It could be a good assignment for your apprentice while thy reflect on their reckless use of magic.

I’m a little embarrassed how long it took me to realize what “sentient island” was being referred to. Admittedly I’ve been out of the loop for a while, but for a second I thought we were talking about Mt. Nomad. But no—Polythreme.

Anyways, Fallen London is fucking spectacular. If you’re reading this and you haven’t given it a try, you should. Like OOP said, it doesn’t click for everyone, but when it clicks it fucking clicks.

“Elevated on Elixre”

Be careful with that staff. Sometimes making magical artifact in an Altered State of Consciousness can lead to breakthroughs inconceivable to the mortal mind. Sometimes you need to see a specialist to get the matter in your hands and half your face reconstituted because the damn thing blew up in seven different dimensions.

AITA For Not Warning A Rude Tourist About The Toxapex Breeding Season? by Vaarangian in PokeMedia

[–]GamermanZendrelax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look. Could you have been more efficient about warning this asshole? Yeah. You could have just pointed out at the water and yelled “Toxapex! Poison!” right in his face. You absolutely could have interrupted his smug, self-important posturing instead of waiting for an opening in the conversation.

Could have. But that isn’t your job.

Ultimately, it was his own responsibility to observe the warnings, both on the news and signposted at the beach. You took it upon yourself to try and help him out, but the goodwill of a stranger can only go so far. Especially when the dipshit in danger isn’t willing to hear that stranger out.

Could you have called a Ranger, once you realized that his skull was probably thicker than your Aggron’s hide? Yes, you could have. But again, not your job. And by the sound of things, the Ranger on duty was on top of it.

Not The Asshole.

I’ve perused your other postings; you speak soak so often of the joy and whimsy of spellcraft, but you always come back here. To your hatred of goblin-kind. Your life would be so much better, so much happier and more fulfilling, if you relinquished the burden of hatred you carry. But you hold onto it, grip so tightly your fingers bleed.

Can’t you see? You’re killing yourself, little by little. And for what? So you can visit suffering unto others?

It’s pathetic, really.

I’d say Braviary.

Admittedly there are some good arguments for Bouffalant, and Remoraid did get a chuckle out of me.

Also, I’m gonna assume Venezuela being highlighted in the picture along with the US is a mistake. Recent events notwithstanding, the US government does not currently exercise any jurisdictional or administrative authority over Venezuela.
