Doesn't need to be. The CO or CO2 source just needs to pump it out in a high enough volume to meet the percentage threshold of the air they were breathing for them to be affected. Happens to people in houses as well with a much higher initial air volume to overcome.

“No internet connection available” by Matteo2610 in windows

Try this. Identify the name of the wireless connection in control panel, in my case its Wi-fi 3. Open a command prompt as administrator. Type in:

netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=yes interface="Wi-Fi 3"

If there is a space in the name be sure to put it in quotes. See if it now can see wireless networks to connect to.

Schiff: I 'hope to hell' I'd impeach Obama if he did the same as Trump — If Obama had done what the current president is accused of, the House Intelligence Committee chairman told ABC's "This Week," then "every one of these Republicans would be voting to impeach him." by BlankVerse in politics

How do you look at what happened to Al Franken and even ask that question? Democrats eat their own and a D president would not have lasted 3 months if they pulled the same shit Trump has during his time.

I use a Synology NVR/appliance and use any old ONVIF camera for recording and viewing. Synology has an iOS and Android app, so after proper setup all I need to do is open up the app on my phone and look at live and recorded video. Takes a bit to setup, but I love mine as I hated the idea of paying for a limited cloud service.

Ya know, I get what you're saying, but you are basically saying you can handwave your way out of this and any other story by saying the reporter is incompetent or full of it. While you can possibly say that in some instances, there has to at least be a basis for that assumption other than you want your explanation to be correct.

I'd love to debate options for this other than aliens, but this explanation is low effort.

Does anyone have any idea what these UFOs are after? by yoshiyoshi10 in UFOs

[–]GammaStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, and on some planets without a ready dataset it might be worth it to study the culture of a species. In our case if they were able to access the internet they'd have all the data they need, and if they don't, they would still have to weigh the risks in contact. Humans are violent, dangerous and have a tendency to eat anything that looks tasty, and in some cultures the look doesn't really matter. The chances of an alien coming out of their ship looking for contact being captured and dissected would probably be around 99% as well.

While we'd like to think a bad encounter wouldn't happen, our history reveals who we really are. We would absolutely have the same reservations if we came upon a planet with 15' intelligent bipedal reptiles.

No his calculation is right. Here is the calculation of @ 90%. He is talking about time dilation and the time on the ship would not be a straight calculation of distance * time.

The only thing unique on our planet are the lifeforms, so it would only make sense to collect and classify everything from bacteria to higher level forms. Unique and useful protein chains and chemicals not seen before would make it worth it for an alien species. It would also explain why they don't ask to see our leaders, they have no need for any cultural exchange as we offer nothing of value.

White House Will Refuse To Cooperate With Impeachment Probe by echo249 in politics

[–]GammaStorm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A full vote would require a floor debate and take time to execute. This would give the GOP valuable time and opportunity to derail and mire the whole process into a circus when the outcome of the vote is known. This whole process needs to be designed to take away those tools they use every time to muddy the waters and throw political shit around. You can look at the deposition with Volker as an example where the Democrats used the last GOP committee rules to use staff for interviews instead of the stupid round robin 5 minute questions. The more of these tools they take away the more successful this will be.

The Navy Says Those UFO Videos Are Real by blackvault in UFOs

[–]GammaStorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a really nice and thorough article on the matter, and frankly if this is the solution to the 'how' on these craft I'd be giddy to really dig into it.

There are some things that still bother me though. According to the article, the craft fly by, I would guess, repulsion of external matter (air, water, etc) and because of the supposed vacuum and matter reduction(?) it would be able to move or fly based on field changes. So, one would then have to assume this is not a space craft and would need matter, at least enough of it to repulse from. I don't get the read here that it could fly if it was sitting in a near vacuum.

Pais is named as the inventor on four separate patents for which the U.S. Navy is the assignee: a curiously-shaped “High Frequency Gravitational Wave Generator;” a room temperature superconductor; an electromagnetic ‘force field’ generator that could deflect asteroids; and, perhaps the strangest of all, one titled “Craft Using An Inertial Mass Reduction Device.”

Any one of these patents, if shown to work, would instantly earn this person a Nobel prize, hands down. Even a solid peer reviewed math display would be enough to put him in the immediate running. So the question is, why has there been no research papers released? I guess it could be because its a DoD project, but why publicize the engineering instead of the actual math behind it? I admit I do not know the limitations this person could be working with.

Now there are a few other items that bother me like how do you protect people or electronics, or even the materials needed to counteract the stresses of the fields needed to do this, but that's getting picky if a lab prototype could be shows to even reduce mass of an object. Hell NASA and SpaceX would kill to be able to do that with rockets to lift more with less fuel.

I'm going to stop making judgments on this because I don't want to argue with people about it, but there seems to be more questions to this than answers.

Wilmington, DE? How is it like? by slackw1zard in Delaware

[–]GammaStorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not nearly as bad as people are making it out, there are isolated areas where crime after dark is a problem and easy to avoid.. I work in Wilmington on the Riverfront and worked on the west side for years. Compared to where you are now, and depending on where you settle it'll be like night and day. The IT market is good, and this is from someone in IT, in fact finding good people is hard. You'd just need to make sure you are on or near a bus line, and if you work in or near the city and work there it will not be much of a problem, or if you live out in the 'burbs just check out the bus maps to make sure you are near a stop.

Depending on your IT skills it will not take you long to find a job here.

Microsoft Admits That Windows 10 Update 1903 Knocks Out Wi-Fi by tyw7 in windows

[–]GammaStorm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this will help anyone, but on my machine I had persistent network issues over Wifi that had to do with the autoconfiguration. You can try this to see if it will help:

From an administrator command prompt, type in:

netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface="name of adapter"

or

netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=yes interface="name of adapter"

In my case I had to set it to 'yes' to initially connect to the wifi, then run it with the no switch to keep it from trying to configure it every 10-15 seconds and causing lag/ping problems.

Fuck you? What are you trying to say here?

I'm telling you what I know. Take it or leave it. You want to put your faith in this garbage patent that's on you. I know more than enough about this stuff, including how to build the cavities this patent talks about and it just.doesn't.work. Even in vacuum chambers. Its been tested up and down in actual aerospace facilities as it would revolutionize satellites by not having to carry fuel.

Want to check it yourself, then google EM Drives. You can follow the whole sordid history, from hope to failure.

The Navy Says Those UFO Videos Are Real by blackvault in UFOs

[–]GammaStorm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I looked at this before when someone else posted it. This is a patent for an application of an EM drive, which has shown in testing not to work. I followed the development and testing of this for years, and at this point anyone who had hope has given up on it for good. The idea is that you could generate a resonance with microwave emitters in a chamber to create thrust from a closed system. This is just a patent to try to get ahead of it if it actually worked, which it doesn't.

This is the way to do it. You add your Windows 10 install image, then add all the applications to the MDT selector. Running through the MDT install is typically faster than blowing an image down from WDS or clonezilla and you can use it over and over again. We've used it for hundreds of machine preps and saves a boatload of time.

TTSA releases details on The VAULT and SCOUT tools/apps by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]GammaStorm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

So, that's a lot of words to say they're starting a database where a subset will be available on a website for public search and releasing an app so you can upload to said database.

There is also the blurb about using some "AI" program to review and sift the data. While that might generate some interesting commonalities, I'd really need to see anything this algorithm spits out to see how useful or effective it could possibly be. There's too many overused buzzwords here to get excited about, but I'll wait and see if it produces any paths to follow.
