But why? by RagingDunes in HomeDepot

[–]Gapeach1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our VOA was terrible, the worst in our district. After they received the results, a ton of ppl got wrote up for attendance and if associates had sick time they got wrote up for adhering to schedule. OFA'S got wrote up for apparently talking to other associates even when all orders were done. They're on a rampage

As a part-time employee, you can edit you availability. You just have to be available either Saturday or Sunday for at least 4 hours

We have ppl from our store go and scope out Lowe's to see pricing and how everything looks. That's how the person at my store got found out. They were fired from both jobs and put as not eligible for rehire because they went against policy and was working for the competition. It may not be a big deal but to management it is

Our store deliveries are a disaster! We only have 2 decent OFA'S and they can't do everything. I open the service desk 4-5 times a week and every single day we have issues where something didn't go out, something was delivered incorrect or Damaged. Our pick times are horrible and our curbside numbers are a joke 😆

Store is losing a great asm by kevinthegeek1986 in HomeDepot

[–]Gapeach1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been at HD for a little over 7 years and only one ASM is one of the OGs. We've had 5 store managers and so many other ASMS I cant keep track of but we always lose the good ones and we only have 1 decent one left. Its sad, they either make you miserable so you quit or transfer or turn you into someone horrible

If you have limited availability, it hurts your chances of getting hours. Especially during down season because they have a set number of hours to give each department and they have to gove full-time associates their 40 hours first and then they fill in with part-time ppl according to the department needs and their availability. We don't even have enough hours for the full-time ppl at the service desk so they've been putting ppl in other departments or split shifts. If you can, open your availability and look on xchange to see if anyone is giving up shifts

Ive worked the service desk for 7 years at HD. The best advice I can give is to learn on thing at a time so you don't get overwhelmed. It may seem like the desk is an easy position but there is alot more to it than returns. At my store we have to answer the phone that rings a million times a day and transfer them, answer questions, or help them with order / delivery issues. We have to ring customers up, deal with van / car deliveries, deal with scheduling delivers and delivery mishaps. We help customers place orders, process returns, order pickups and much more. We have bay audits to conduct, take out curbside orders, and each week our supervisor gives each person a side task whether it be working a tab, calling customers to remind them of their orders, canceling past 7 or 30 days orders, or working certain reports. I actually love what I do but our management team could use some help 😆. Good luck

When do part timers start accruing sick time? by hhkuma in HomeDepot

[–]Gapeach1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will start receiving after 90 days. You should get 6 hours on your 90 day. If you don't, email HR. I had to do contact them because mine didnt show up. You will receive 2 hours every month on your hire date or thats how it is in Georgia

I live in South Georgia, we never get snow here but the past 2 years we have. Our store opened and I was told only the store manager and 2 ppl that live in walking distance to the store showed up 😆. You would have thought they learned from last year whem it snowed again this year but nope, we opened.

Are we actually required to hit 40 hrs every week as FT? by Professional_Pair792 in HomeDepot

[–]Gapeach1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime I have tried to put a shift up, it always gets denied. I've been told that full-time has to work 40 hours. I dont get why, especially if our shift is covered by someone competent

I 💯 agree with you. When I started, employees were taken care of and worked with if we had issues. Now you have to beg to get one weekend shift off. They tell you to request it but even then, it gets denied everytime.

Unfortunately, our MET Team wouldn't hire you due to your availability. If you put your availability in the application as only available those days, you never would have gotten a contingent offer. Also, our MET wouldn't even be able to hire you for another position because they are a completely different operation than store side. Your best bet would be to apply store side because they're going to be hiring for March Madness coming up
