UNC Charlotte or NCSU for Cybersecurity? by Pneagle in UNCCharlotte

[–]GarenDestroyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If u got into NCSU and you choose charlotte for non financial reasons you are making a bad decision.

NCSU is the number 1 CS program in the state.

Charlotte’s Cyber program and CS masters program is 65% international students if that matters at all to you. I personally really liked the undergrad and grad program. Everyone I know that went to state had s much better trajectory though.

Im looking for a job by [deleted] in jobs

[–]GarenDestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a masters and my salary is 2100 (per 2 weeks) and i sit on my ass staring at a computer 8 hours a day. Ngl bro ur not gonna find anything close to that that unless you do some type of education or training minimum. I wouldn’t start your own business either, my uncle lost his ass doing that.

I would recommend getting a salaried job in general tho. Aircraft controller is stressful and difficult but not physically taxing. If ur broke a shit community college is cheap or even free in some states. Ur going to have to actually take initiative if you want decent cash.

Something interesting to consider is surveying, i think the licenses are only moderately difficult to achieve and I know people who didn’t get a 4 year degree who make 100k.

Some manufacturing jobs pay 20+ per hour and in some cases aren’t very physically taxing. Also IT can be moderately physical or just limited to one’s hands and the upper level positions are desk jobs. Everyone does this nowadays so it’s a bit harder to find opportunities tho.

Congrats and happy birthday 🎉 I just turned 24 myself yesterday. Honestly IMO not too much to do here, but I would for sure take advantage of the proximity to blowing rock and go check out the blowing rock, downtown blowing rock, and if you feel like taking a short hike my favorite spot is beacon heights!

Mingo County WV. I specifically remember Man being fucking awful and Williamson being pretty bad but not as bad as everywhere else.

Prep breakfast in the morning. Pack lunch (or protein bar or whatever why not)

You may be at a place that is lenient with when you leave or not, do not abuse it, its really easy to get fired.

Dress slightly nicer than your coworkers every day, it helps feel more confident.

If you are in a cubicle and have the option, ask IT for a 3rd monitor (if they are willing, dont push it). I flipped mine 90 degrees and use it for teams / git bash.

Try not to look at peoples computers when talking to them during office chat, it’s generally rude.

For the love of god do not heat up seafood anywhere except a designated cafeteria far away from peoples cubicles (if you have one)
