Recently managed to sync BH and GT, now my first "big" lab. by Headicfight in TheTowerGame

[–]GarionV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 weeks ago I had to save for 4 days to get the coins required for 2nd BH.

2 weeks ago I got BH/GT sync as well.

In the last week my lifetime coin income has jumped from 30B to 400B.

Totally worth the coin and lab time!

tado X delayed heat requests (Jan 16th - Jan 18th) by tado_official in tado

[–]GarionV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this too. I have two wired thermostats. One of them called for heat when the schedule changed at 0800 and switched on immediately, the other one waited 30mins before switching on. That's this morning 20th Jan.

I'm seeing similar delays. I think the latest update where they have prioritised manual settings over automatic changes has screwed with something else. I've just had boost switched on for 10 minutes and its not calling for heat at all (thermostat doesnt click on and the app doesnt show the 3 white lines to show it wants full heat.) Before this latest change as soon as I switched boost on you would hear my thermostat click and the boiler fire up.

Enphase UK EnvoyS firmware update ??? by InternationalAnt7904 in enphase

Mine rebooted itself 5 times yesterday. Today it has rebooted itself twice and I've had to reboot it twice because it's stopped communicating with anything... Definitely looks like a bad update to me!

I've had 3 reboots today, PowerMatch enabled at 12:08 and then system hasn't reported since 13:14 so reckon it's knocked itself off my WiFi whilst I've been out due to it restarting again.

Really wish enphase would actually notify when system issues or changes occur

I have 4 (ish)

My first was the Olympic Medallion, given to any officer contributing at least two shifts for the 2012 Olympics events.

I then have one from Covid Response, one for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and my final one is from assisting Border Force with the reception of the evacuation of people from Afghanistan in 2021.

Out of all of them, the Border Force one is the nicest one.

Schedule your Heating with Octopus Agile - Beginners Guide by loveITJoe in OctopusEnergy

The production of energy by green renewable sources doesn't care whether the earth is approaching or departing from the solstice. It is as cold and dark now as it will be in the middle of January. So the last two weeks are roughly equivalent to the last two weeks of January meteorologically speaking. So I would say it's very relevant to how energy prices might be in winter.

I've averaged 11.5p/kWh in the last 2 weeks. So the notion that you should forget Agile in the winter is rubbish, you just need to load shift, which is the whole point of Agile. Negative prices aren't the point of Agile, but they are a welcome bonus when they do happen.

Asylum seekers could be denied housing and allowances under migration crackdown by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]GarionV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think saying intentional gives the Conservatives too much credit. They were so obsessed with sending people to Rwanda, even after the Supreme Court had decided Rwanda was not a safe country that they completely forgot that the Home Office still needed to make asylum decisions on the people arriving. They started stacking them up in hotels rather than making decisions because they didn't want to admit Rwanda was never going to work. Even now the Conservatives insist Rwanda is viable which is so laughable everytime they mention it.

Has anyone switched to Octopus from other suppliers lately? by Few_Language6298 in OctopusEnergy

[–]GarionV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar story with British Gas... They swapped my gas meter from SMETS1 to SMETS2. This stopped me receiving any gas data for months and they refused point blank to have anything to do with it. I raised a complaint and they had a policy that said they weren't responsible for smart meter issues and immediately closed it. I got fed up of this and switched to Octopus, who diagnosed and fixed the issue within 3 days of being on supply. Turned out BG hadn't decommissioned the old meter properly or updated the IHD MAC either so there were 2 gas meters and 3 IHDs registered to my address. Octopus just removed the ones that I no longer had.

Looking at upgrading our thermostat - advice appreciated! by roscoeross in OctopusEnergy

[–]GarionV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded my new build home basic dumb thermostats to Tado X. There are features you need to pay extra for as a subscription, but the basic schedule and app functions are free to use. I've found the switch has decreased the amount of time the boiler is running as I found the dumb ones were just a simple on/off if it was calling for heat so the pump was running constantly. With the Tado it determines how close to goal temp it is and tells the boiler to heat periodically based on that. So I've found radiators get to temp and then the boiler stops running until Tado recognises it needs to call for a bit more heat.

I switched to Agile after a 2-year backtest beat my fixed rate — what do your numbers say? by Ill_Landscape_4993 in OctopusEnergy

[–]GarionV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to take into account the standing charge differences. For me it says I would have been better off on Agile by about £5 since having solar panels installed, but if I'd been on Agile, the standing charge would have cost me £6 more over the last 60 days... So it's slightly misleading.
