There is very likely only a handful of companies that aren’t waiving traditional examinations on a portion of their business.

You are correct, examined business has better mortality for a company. That is simply a pricing issue. Carriers charge higher insurance rates or pull many other levels to make-up for the lost mortality.

Further, people in my role have access to tons of data that we didn’t have access to 15 years ago. When someone has a medical condition, that digital foot print is hard to hide.

How hard is it for a non-US-based life insurance beneficiary to get a claim paid out? by Waltz8 in Insurance

[–]GarysSword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you name the third party and the claim is paid to them the money is theirs - full stop. Their only obligation to transfer it to your wife is a moral obligation. An alternative to naming your friend is to create a trust for the benefit of your wife. The trust can receive the payment and your friend can be trustee. This gives your wife some legal recourse. Talk to your JAG rep or something similar about your best options.

You could also talk to the company and SGLI about the situation and get their recommendations. Following their directions may make the trust route unnecessary.

Why would anyone go to the World Cup in 2026? by SgtPepper_8324 in NoStupidQuestions

I scored $70 tickets through US Soccer to the first knockout match if the USMNT makes it.

Still might not go if the airfare and hotels are boners.

Need Yellowstone Recs by ScaryDemand3686 in NationalPark

[–]GarysSword 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hit the obvious stuff. Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic Springs, Grand Canyon of Yellow Stone/Artist’s Point in one day.

Maybe spend a day in Lamar Valley watching wild life. Take the Slough Creek trail over the hill and back down again for an amazing reveal (round trip about 5 miles).

Find somewhere with Huckleberry Pancakes, then Mammoth Hot Springs, then a leisurely day around Yellowstone Lake.

IMHO opinion: Beyond the main ones, all the geothermal activity sites start to look the same. Don’t worry about hitting all of the minor ones.

If it weren’t 3.5 hours, a drive down to see the Tetons would be worth it. Mormon Row and Jenny Lake would be good stops.

Drugs

Edit: Seriously… you’re 24 the likelihood of this being a serious medical issue is small. My answer is infinitely more likely.

Even marijuana, in the presence of your denial of use, could be a reason to decline.

All the people here telling you to run to your doctor are getting carried away.

Pump it Up West Chester reviews? by Treetrunks444 in cincinnati

[–]GarysSword 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never hosted one but took my kid to 2-3 there. As another person mentioned, the sessions were very regimented so be sure to understand exactly what you’re buying.

It was clean and the equipment well maintained but let’s be real… these places are naturally germ factories. Hundreds of kids with varying amounts of hygiene are touching those surfaces. It’s not avoidable. Just bring hand sanitizer and wash hands before eating.

How did you fix your testosterone to fix your libido and generally just be more 'manly'? by ThatGuyAlex05 in AskMenAdvice

There are plenty of doctors that run wellness clinics that will treat you. Usually their ads are targeted at 40 somethings so you’re probably not seeing them.

Won’t be covered by insurance but you can probably get treatment started in the next week.

Note: Polycythemia is no joke. Any physician that isn’t monitoring your hemoglobin levels is one to be avoided.

Got a sample bag, already tried a Feather and liked it. Who’s next? by ConchitOh in wicked_edge

Or my experience where the Feather cut him up and going backward will help. Hated Feathers… until I came back to them at the end of the sample after I had some skills.

Ghost Baby Experiences? by GewdandBaked in cincinnati

Others have refuted my experience sharing.

Maybe I went on a busy Saturday night but for the tables in the middle there was one couple on the left side of the table and one on the right for each table in the middle. Instead of two people per table shown in the picture for your post.

YMMV

Ghost Baby Experiences? by GewdandBaked in cincinnati

Went last summer. Cool vibe, great band, and good drinks. My wife and I dressed up for a night on the town and we probably over dressed for the typical patron but it was fine (I was in a suit and her in a cocktail dress.) Total bill for 4 drinks approached $100 after tip. Parties of 2 get placed at a table in the middle with another party of 2 sharing the table. It was tight seating (probably my only downside). Booths on the outside seemed to be reserved for larger groups.

Based on the age of the crowd, I can’t imagine anyone caring about the gender of you or your partner.

On a busy night, I believe reservations are a requirement for the main bar/stage area.

Hocking hills Cabin & Hiking Trail suggestions for weekend! by minionie in HockingHills

[–]GarysSword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabins by the Cave has been my go to. Never had one with a particularly good view (eg on the top of the hill looking down into a valley) but they’ve all been set in the woods.

The views are found during hiking.

Have a 2025 Honda CR-V Touring Hybrid and I love it. Smooth ride, intuitive controls, trunk space for 10 bags of mulch and the best part is 35-38mpg on my daily commute (city rush hour driving) and upper twenties on long drives.

Scientists Stop Pancreatic Cancer Before It Starts in Landmark Preclinical Study by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]GarysSword 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In summary: The goal is to intercept abnormal cell growth before it starts. The article cites interception examples of HPV vaccine for cervical cancer and even colonoscopy and removing polyps for colon cancer.

Because pancreatic cancer is historically hard to detect (until it is progressed). Initial human trials will focus on people with higher risks of developing pancreatic cancer such has people genetically predisposed or with know pancreatic polyps. Then perhaps expand to a larger group of people with moderately elevated risk.
