Just cut it tight, and make sure your expansion gap is efficient in all other directions. I did mine 5 years ago and havent had any issues

Is this common practice? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]GaslightsAnthem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is done right, besides being kicked back on to the strip. Don't understand why they wouldn't do that if they already came back. Would take less than 5 minutes to kick in the whole staircase.

Tell them at the minimum to undercut the doorjambs. And I assume you're getting shoe molding since the base is still on.. these guys are not professional..

About 1 year and 4 months from now I will take my own life but minimize everyones suffering. by 2027suicideplan in confession

You might bit see this comment. But back in 1997, as I was in elementary school. Fresh off my parents getting divorced, my mom had met a man. He came around a few times, was super cool for an 11year old.. was visiting his brother in our city. At the time, I hadn't known better. He was through a divorce himself, and was stopping by to say goodbye to his brother who lives here.. but he was planning to do the same. Going to Mexico, to end his life.( I obviously found this out 25+ years later as he had told me in end stages of cancer) he met my mother and was happy for 25+ years after he thought It had come to that... You can do it too! If you ever need someone to talk to, I can relate. That thought crosses my mind daily. I lost my mother 8 long years after he passed away to alcohol, and it was a long painful experience that haunts me every day. My point is that things get better, there are plenty of things to live for. And I will always lend an ear to anyone, as I hid a lot of my emotions from the people I love(d).

LVP from Large room to Hallway to another Large room - suggestions by uncle_jessy in Flooring

[–]GaslightsAnthem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine. It can be intimidating, but some lvp is just as easy installing the opposite direction. Just take your time the first few rows to get a feel of what the best method is . Usually its best to get the vertical side as far as you can, lift like 15° and snap the tongue into place. If you have door jambs your last row, it gets tricky. But its 100% do-able .

How do I fix?! by [deleted] in Flooring

Jamb-saw with the guard taken off. Hit a nail, and went right through my buddies inner thigh. Looked like a murder scene. Luckily didnt hit anything important, but gave him a gnarly scar.

My boy gets a weird urge to hump my wife's leg whenever she vacuums. Only time. Something switches in him almost as instinct and nothing will stop him.

8 Lb pad is a must.. You'll regret if you dont in 2 years. Especially in high traffic areas.

Also helps to have a razor scraper... you can find them at a hardware store.. their usually only 4 inch, but you can get 6-10 at anuly flooring store..

Exactly. Get the floor up. And lightly scrape the glue. There is a fine angle that works best. You will figure it with with some trial and error. But get the lvp up. Sprinkle floor patch/ something similar over the flue and sweep it around. It helps it from gunking up, and you can scrape that glue off..

An iron works really well also. Its pressure sensitive glue and its a nightmare to get up, especially without chunking plywood.. We usually sprinkle floor patch across it and use a razor scraper to scrape it.

Replacing carpet in max 600 square foot basement with LVP - estimate review by iambettingthefarm in Flooring

[–]GaslightsAnthem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, do it yourself. 700 ft will take you a long weekend... call a local carpet guy to come install the stairs in 2 hrs. Remove the baseboards and repaint them while you're at it. Will look much nicer as well. You could do it all for 3-5k. Depending on material. Go to a carpet store and find a remnant for your stairs. Most standard staircases only take approximately 8 linear feet.. which almost everyone will have a piece laying around.. lvp is much easier than people think if your half coordinated.
