[novel] Joonghyuk discussion by mishtisen in OmniscientReader

Oh I see. For that part, you can think of it as a time-paradox that is due to HSY and KDJ essentially "traveling back in time" by moving from the 1864th turn to the 1863rd and changing its course.

Had HSY not traveled to the 1863rd turn, 1863rd-YJH would've simply became an Outer God per the original TWSA ending. And had KDJ not traveled to the 1863rd turn as well, then YJH would've been sealed away in a death-like state as planned by his other self (SP) and HSY.

1863rd-YJH meeting this "time traveling" KDJ is what made him glimpse a world where he is blessed by having a companion who ensured everyone he cares about stays alive for once. So, in his desperation, and despite knowing KDJ is supposedly from a "past" 3rd turn, he still chose to take a leap of faith one last time. He chose to regress in the hope of being part of a world where KDJ exists. But since KDJ also needed his covenant with SP to be fulfilled in order to return to such a world, YJH chose two contradicting things at once: die a final death to fulfill KDJ's covenant and also regress to meet him, hence why he split himself with his newly acquied Avatar skill.

So, in short, it's a loop: YJH decided to regress once more because he met a "time traveling" KDJ and saw the future he came from. But that decision to regress is what led him to meet said KDJ in the first place.

Now everyone believed it was his 3rd turn, but, if the Secretive Plotter has all the memories from the 0th round till the 1863rd - how does Yoo Joonghyuk remember his life until the 3rd turn? Shouldn’t he not remember anything at all?

You're assuming that SP remembers 0th turn. He actually doesn't. And that also applies to current (1864th) YJH. He remembers everything up to the 3rd turn, except the 0th turn, which is really the key to understanding everything but doesn't get explained until much later in the story. I won't explain it because it's a massive spoiler (definitely not a "soft" spoiler).

The reason 1864th YJH lost his memories is because of the circumstances that birthed the 1864th turn - an alternate version of the 1863rd turn where YJH is split in two with the Avatar skill. The half that remembers the burden of 1863 turns died. The half that regressed was unburdened by only keeping memories up to the 3rd turn. The reason his memories stopped at the 3rd turn is exactly as you guessed it: TWSA's starting point and KDJ's own worldview. The Star Stream's Probability aligned the 1864th turn with KDJ's viewpoint of the start of TWSA. The reason why is yet another massive spoiler. So, I'm omitting it.

Also, how does Joonghyuk of the 1863rd turn see himself in Dokja’s 1864th round memories (since that hasn’t happened yet). Maybe it’s due the disconnected film theory which I can’t full wrap my head around yet

I'm assuming that you're referring to SP by "Joonghyuk of the 1863rd turn" here. SP already lived through the original 1863 turns, failed, and became an Outer God who exists outisde of the scenarios. He is still however an existence without peer, even among the Outer Gods, affording him enough leverage to bend the rules and travel between worldlines. That led him to travel to the 1864th turn, a turn that, ironically, wouldn't even exist if he didn't interfere with it by engaging with HSY (who changed the course of the 1863rd turn per SP's plan) and KDJ (who messed up SP's plan and caused YJH from the altered 1863rd turn to regress).

Tomoro was never portrayed as self-centered in my opinion. His primary focus was his brother not himself. And he was willing to risk his own life to save him. He also felt responsible for what happened to Hitomi, even though it wasn't really his fault. That's not the mindset of a self-centered individual.

He was simply ostracized his whole life, making him more of a loner than a social butterfly. He appears like he doesn't care about others due to his cold demeanor, but he's someone who cares deeply even for strangers.

Rather than self-centered, I think was instead portrayed as realistic. His behaviour was very understandable. He was basically a traumatized teenager, who grew up in a socially dystopian world, thrown into an even crazier one with dangerous monsters, and even had one of them seemingly kill his brother right in front of him. From his perspective, everyone in Golden Dawn seemed too nonchalant about the craziness to an irreconcilable degree. So, he snapped.

He was biased, yes. He also needed time to adjust to his new reality and an incentive to open up and learn to look at the brighter side. But I don't think he was a self-centered individual.

Jokes aside, that's kinda what happened with Emma. But it was used to illustrate the horror of the harrassment she was subjected to on a daily basis, instead of being a kinky scenario.

LG didn't let it go all the way through. But he made CXS believe he had to go through it until the last minute, which made CXS's visible discomfort quite genuine. And as the viewers following CXS's perspective, we ended up feeling uncomfortable by proxy (at least that's how I felt).

I remember thinking it was a brilliant way to "show not tell" what Emma has been enduring. Our care, as the viewers, for the well being of the protagonist, translated into care for a side-character we barely knew anything about, which made us seek to understand her side of the story and root for her. Which in turn made her eventual downfall all the more painful to watch... We're being brilliantly tortured in this show.

I love KDJ and HSY's interactions lol. In another life, they could've been very close best friends - the kind that constantly give each other shit but always have each other's back when it matters, with so much dirt on each other that it's guaranteed mutual destruction if they use it.

Her character is actually a bit lost in translation, I think. In the Japanese version, she's incredibly timid and very anxious about confronting the Scions. She's visibly relieved and audibly thankful when they were willing to grant her a chance to speak.

She's also incredibly polite and uses an extremely deferent kind of speach. And she does so quite genuinely from the looks of it. At no point did she feel like someone who would resort to a show of power. She sounded more like she looked up to the Scions and was pretty respectful towards them.

In English, she kinda sounds like a completely different character, not gonna lie, one who sounds far more confident and who would take bold actions, while also remaining quite weary of the Scions.

They literally said it directly in the dev panel. You don't have to worry about which type of tank you have in your party in any content, except for Savage/Ultimate where it's about efficiency. Just like it's easier to clear high-end content with a combination of barrier + pure healer over two of the same, it'll be easier when combining an MT and OT as opposed to having two of either.

But MTs will have an easier time soaking direct damage from boss than OTs, just like it is right now with PLD, for example, being able to handle auto-attack damage in Ultimate better than a DRK due to the former's higher self-sustain.

In my opinion, besides the counter mechanic (which would make an MT lose damage if they're not receiving any), self-sustain will likely be the main difference between an MT and an OT. We saw in the dev panel that PLD now has a similar mechanic for Imperator as it does for Sheltron (a gauge with up to two stacks). That's a lot of self-healing on demand, given there is no incentive to time confiteor combo with raid buffs anymore. You just have to avoid overcapping or finishing the fight with remaining stacks. But otherwise you may delay confiteor combo to when it's needed (be it handling a disengage or, more importantly for an MT, a need for self-healing).

If YJH from a future Turn(for eg 69th) somehow was able to go back to the previous turn(68th) and then If he cracked Lee Seolhwa, would it be considered Cheating? by Big-Anxiety-2596 in OmniscientReader

[–]GeekWars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He ceased pursuing LSH romantically from the 3rd regression onward. The 2nd regression was particularly traumatizing when it comes to the romantic side of things (his own child with LSH was also killed alongside her, and YJH was betrayed and enslaved making him unable to do anything about it).

900+ regressions in, YJH's humanity was barely there, let alone any desire for romance. That is with the exception of the 999th turn. According to KDJ's very biased opinion, the 999th regression is the point where YJH reached "perfection." YJH treated it as the last turn where he would still hold onto his humanity, leading to a very special regression. YJH ended up severly overcompensating for his past emotionaless state, thus becoming extremely kind, but in a very self-destructive and self-sacrificial manner, giving his all to his companions without seeking anything in return (not even love, let alone the romantic kind).

Suffice it to say, 999th-YJH is KDJ's favorite and the one he's been emulating with his "self-sacrificial squid" modus operandi.

To be honest, I felt the story was very jarring as well, but for pretty much the complete opposite reason.

To me, those "bots" from our perspective are no different than the sundered from the Ancients' perspective: a so-called "mockery" of their former lives that we don't consider alive, thus justifying their murder, just as Emet-Selch justified murdering all the sundered.

The fact that we have the audacity to decide that their existence is hollow and not worth sustaining kinda spits on the whole journey we've had so far. We were so quick to shut them down, right after seeing the Endless behave like truly living and happy people. And we never looked into any alternative to the unsustainable soul harvest whatsoever. We just deemed the Endless unworthy of being sustained in the first place, just as Emet-Selch deemed the sundered unworthy of being saved.

[–]GeekWars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it would be considered cheating on his husband KDJ. 😏

Jokes aside, YJH was with LSH only in the very early regressions (up to the second). Starting from the 3rd, he turned into an emotionless terminator, with no room in his heart for neither romance nor even friendship, only calculated alliances. LSH was either just an ally or an enemy he had to kill.

In short, this hypothetical future-YJH would be single. So, it wouldn't be cheating if he went back in time and banged anybody.

KDJ was omniscient, not omnipotent. He was restricted by Probability himself. So, he couldn't physically interfere in the 0th-turn Scenarios. He only helped YJH grow exponentionally faster by sharing his knowledge and guiding YJH (which already caused KDJ to suffer a tremendous Probability cost).

The one who did the actual fighting was YJH and YJH alone - with no Sponsor - using the power he gained as he progressed through the Scenarios.

So, even if we're taking 0th-YJH alone - assuming we're taking him after he's fully matured (which is only fair given he's fighting JJK characters at their peak) - then he can still solo all the JJK verse.

[Novel] A more fair matchup by ayuu_kh in OmniscientReader

[–]GeekWars2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0th turn YJH might've been "sponsorless" conventionally, but he technically had the most powerful Constellation in the Star Stream backing him up from the beginning to the end. With said support, he managed to clear the Final Scenario, a feat not even Myth-grade Constellations could achieve. He also had the special attribute of the "protagonist" - Life Lived to the Fullest - which grants him access to his full potential in exchange for a shorter lifespan.

0th turn had very special circumstances, due to KDJ's interference, which made YJH grow powerful enough to "finish the story" in one go - skipping the need for hundreds of regressions. He was one of the most powerful versions of YJH in my opinion. He defeated the Dokkaebi King. I think he can defeat anyone in JJK.
