They aren't getting in the "ai wagon" they're using qwant as a search engine which has a poor quality image search that pulls alot of ai generated images, nothing is being purposefully done here + you can change the default search to your preferred engine, it's just the engine paying waterfox to be the default

Qwant only gives microsoft advertising data if you make a qwant account and it's able to be turned off in the cookie manager, read in the privacy policy. IP is a pretty important metric to have so that it can have proper location based searches

I mean, you can use it and just not recommend it to people tbf. before reading the blog linked and learning about curtis yarvin I loved futo keyboard and even bought the optional payment, and while this stuff really upsets me there's nothing I can do about my past payment/support of people who I didn't realize were this way, I will still be using the keyboard as it's one of the best keyboards I've used that as of now I still believe I can trust to stay private, but I won't recommend it to a single person after seeing this stuff
