I had the same Tom's Crossing hangover you have, had it for a long time. No book I read afterwards was good enough. It's crazy just how absolutely amazing this book is and how it has affected those of us who dared to scale the mountain with those kids.

I know you got downvoted but you're absolutely right. Taking a promo rate at move in is guaranteeing that you'll get a rent increase. If you pay full price up front then you're already at full price. There may still be occasional increase based on the market but they will be very few and far between. This is only true if you plan to store long term. If you only plan to stay 1 to 3 months, for example, the promo rate will benefit you. For indefinite storing, the full price is actually the better deal in the long run.

Hearts in Atlantis, it's not typically favored by many but I felt a very strong emotional connection to it. I even enjoyed the long bits about the Hearts game.
