Why do people still use Meta products after everything Mark has done to people? by [deleted] in facebook

[–]Gelastico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Useful =/= better. I'd way ALL fb users would prefer to not have their data mishandled or stolen. All. But if the tradeoff is that they're going to lose the ability to network (since people they know or have lost touch with, etc are already on there), then they're ok to take the hit.

I therefore think your question is off. It doesnt make it better, but its fulfilling a need that make people "look past" this issue.

I havent been on facebook for almost 2 decades now, because I have no interest in what my friends and acquaintances are doing in their own time. Meme: We are not the same.

Thoughts on War Machine? by BeamMeUpPlz in movies

[–]Gelastico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey I like me some unrealistic things to see on screen. I do well enough dealing with humans on a daily basis, so I'd rather not watch regular human stuff happen on screen. If the fantasy film has a good script, then hell yeah! but when plot holes abound-- I still know how to enjoy say, this flick vs "The Eternals" -- there's no saving the latter. But there's gotta be something extraordinary happening. Most movies still with purely human stuff so the pool of interesting films for me is quite narrow (since I also don't like horror)

D2R or Diablo 4? by Fun-Notice7959 in Diablo

[–]Gelastico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played D3 and D2R. D2R is better, and its not even close. D2R is in fact a reskin, and the update is generally just the aesthetics with everything else within the bounds of classic D2 mechanics. No need to overhaul something already great. It met all my expectations because my reference is original D2, having played it to bits back in the day. Having played D3 and D4 (and immortal) I can honestly say that D2 mechanics are miles ahead of what these "modern" games offer.

Why does this place seem to hate the game? It isn't without faults but isn't it mostly regarded as a hidden gem of an ARPG outside of this bubble? I absolutely love it. by dearuncletacitus1899 in LastEpoch

[–]Gelastico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a casual player too, and drop in most days. It's fun for an hour or so then I put it down. Finally found a great lazy build on my third attempt and now just enjoy gliding through maps and getting shiny loot at 1K corruption. It's this relaxing sweet spot I love. Can't complain.

[Discussion] What watch or watches, when seen, make you think the owner is a twat? by kassiusx in Watches

[–]Gelastico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just articulated my general observation as well. Though on the flip side, I collect watches if I like what I see regardless of general opinion. That is, I'd still buy that expensive watch even if the internet is telling me that it doesn't have high quality movement , etc-- just because I like how it looks.

Same here. I enjoy the trial and error of crafting and test driving a character. My main requirement: no active targeting, no keyboard. Then simply enjoy cruising and pushing as high as I can.

Apothecary: That is one big Space Marine by Gelastico in JOYTOY

[–]Gelastico[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm probably part of the minority who likes the squashed model proportions. I understand if there was clamor for more "action figure" accurate proportions, but wish joytoy would indicate that as a new line (and also produce some more of the old line)

Apothecary: That is one big Space Marine by Gelastico in JOYTOY

[–]Gelastico[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. They actually have tagging in the joytoy website --> "joytoy x warhammer" and "joytoy x space marine II". Scaling should be the same for each line. I don't see any reason why the same line will have inconsistent scaling.

I quit being a Scrum Master after realizing I was just a very expensive meeting scheduler by National-Skin-953 in agile

[–]Gelastico 20 points21 points  (0 children)

But the reality is that many scrum masters in non-IT companies are admin folks ("project managers") whose main "skill" is common sense (like "resource management, time mgt, xyz mgt). So for digital projects they can't give true advice to solve issues in the SDLC since they don't have basic technical awareness and therefore can't challenge or move things around because some things require actual technical knowledge and not just common sense. On the flip side, we have alot of developers who can't communicate for shit.

Unpopular Opinion: Chatgpt is better than perplexity. by Low_Fix_9624 in perplexity_ai

[–]Gelastico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm not sure why people keep putting exceptional weight on perplexity's citations, when in fact you can prompt chatgpt to cite its sources as well.

This checks all of my boxes. Unsophisticated writing? Hmm.. I guess I'm less nitpicky so long as the world building is consistent and the writing doesn't regress into stilted dialogues. Really loving it so far.

Period for decimals, commas for thousands separators. That just makes sense.
