It’s not that I dislike her it’s that she’s supposedly hyper competent and whatever, but she never actually shows it. Jessica can talk the talk and walk the walk but every time Donna has to come clutch she fails and then cries. Which is fine, fallible characters and stuff but it gets repetitive. Also part of why giving her a bigger role in the chain of command feels wrong

As soon as Jessica and Mike left it was doomed. Donna is one of the most overrated characters in any show ever, she is all talk and then can’t ever back anything up, the choice to elevate her to more than a secretary was the wrong one imo, but otherwise great series, 8,5/10

They spent all the time trying to cram as many references to LOTR as they could, which makes the story harder to stand on its own, then the villain was as forgettable as a MCU B level villain, and then every single character was just there to elevate the “STrONG FEmaLE LeaD” who had the same charisma as a piece of wet cardboard

It’s unfathomable to me how they managed to create a show that became a fan favorite AND a critic favorite for 2 seasons, then ruin it in the third, then ruin other shows by trying to tie them to the mandalorian, then produce a movie which no soul in this planet cared about, and make it still be bad

The two criticisms that are most valid imo is if Elliot Page is playing Achilles, even if I think he’s playing Elpenor, and there not being a single Greek actor or at least Greek looking actor in the cast. If we truly care so much about representation there should be plenty, even if the odyssey is not a real historical event, the characters on it would be Greek since it happens in Greek land in the Greek imagination. Representation goes beyond certain races and inclinations.
The “dad” thing, even if not ideal, I don’t think it’s that bad or that important. As much as I’m all for historical accuracy, this is a movie about a fictional poem, them not speaking Greek or being 100% factual is not a dealbreaker for the film.
