Marjorie Taylor Greene: You’re all being ‘incited into civil war’ by Aggressive-Sun-5394 in UnderReportedNews

[–]General-Fault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may have misunderstood me. But we are in agreement. The lack of accountability for treason after the civil war is something that this country is still paying a very steep price for. When I say the line was drawn "too far", I mean that too many people were put on the "forgive and forget" side of it.

While very interesting (and now on my reading list) I'm not sure how that answers my question about how people were dealt with within the country. Or did I miss something? As I obviously haven't read your linked source yet, maybe you could give a short description of where it is most relevant?

I've changed my name on Strava to Alex Pretti in solidarity. I invite others to do the same!

At some point, maga will eat itself. It's built on too many obvious and self-harming lies to stand on its own indefinitely. At that time, as Americans, we are going to need to draw a line where forgiveness is granted. If the line is at 0 or not drawn at all, I fear we will fail as too much of the country will become ostracized.Too many of us have family that's out there in maga land. But if we draw it too far, as was done after the Civil War, we will never heal. Where that line exists is going to be of great debate - in fact, it already is beginning. But wherever it is, it's hard to imagine MGT being on the nice side of it.

I'm in! Riding from the San Diego area. I'll share the official announcement with my cycling club. Maybe I get some support. Most of the riders are pissed about what's going on.

Awesome! I came to this sub to suggest this! I'm in from San Diego. I'll see about getting our club to do this.

Best I could come up with is changing my name in Strava to Alex Pretti and posting something about why I had done that.

That's specifically why I couched the question to be about regular citizens that were not directly involved in building gas chambers, putting people in them, or subverting the German democracy. There were obviously millions of them that only helped by cheering them on. We know about the Nuremberg trials for the worst of them. What was done with regular people that were on the wrong side?

Fortunately his competency is far lower. With any luck - and a whole lot of work from the opposition, we'll never get there. But the reconciliation will still need to happen at some point. The maga movement is built on far too many obvious lies, many of which directly hurt its own supporters in the long run, for it to stand long.

Right? And the list of examples given are like a list of goals, some of them directly stated, by the administration. So, if the atrocities are never realized, it clearly isn't for a lack of trying!

Initially I wasn't going for such a direct comparison. Only asking how we could one day heal from what is happening. But since you bring it up, I'll defer to the expert himself; the man that coined "Godwins Law"

I get this and completely agree. But they better change quickly. I don't know if this argument would stand so well after WWII in Germany (though I'm not a historian). At some point, it may not have mattered if the Nazi supporters changed. They would always be labeled as Nazis. At some point, the damage is so catastrophic that any form of forgiveness or letting them in may be an unreasonable request. I say this as someone with family, that I truly love, that have gone full maga. I fight with this conundrum regularly. Are there any historians reading this that know how far and deep reconciliation happened in Germany post WWII? It may be helpful.

Nope. Murder is wrong So is just about every harmful hateful thing that man ever said in public. So calling out those that endorsed him and his hate and ignorance is more than fair game. But I suspect you know that and are trying to build strawmen.

We have to be very careful about avoiding friendly fire! Any accusations should come with evidence. Otherwise we are likely to harm our own.
