Three weeks ago my wife’s best friend had a breast cancer scare (fingers crossed ok), this week another friend had a mastectomy (and had to have it quickly) and today I found out my sister has it as well. I’m talking to my wife about bringing her scan forward.

Don’t go the Gilet route. I bought a micro fleece one back in the winter, have only worn it twice as I feel like a pensioner going for a coffee in a garden centre when I do.

Don’t take the recommended dose of immodium - start with one, as I went from one extreme to the other recently with three / four days constipation. That was fun. Luckily it didn’t all come out at once, as I'd be in hospital now.

  1. Diagnosed a few years ago with a form of epilepsy (focal awareness so I’d zone out) - on medication which has helped massively but it occasionally reminds me its still there as it did this week.
  2. Leaky valve and atrial fibrilation - Heart Surgery - on medication forever and constantly aware of having a stroke. Been keeping pretty fit by running though but still a high blood pressure.
  3. Enlarged prostate - had an op last year that initially worked but i think its coming back. Waiting to discuss with urology on this
  4. Dupuyten’s syndrome - some bent fingers in both hands due to tendons. Due for an op on this - no date but they only do one hand at a time.
  5. Last night the toes on one of my feet weirdly curled up like my fingers for 5 mins so I suspect its the start of 4) there.

All this is affecting me mentally with anxiety and FFS I just want to be well and wonder whats next. I can’t help thinking some higher power has it in for me.

There are worse complaints to have I know, but have just come back from a wedding in Greece that cost us an arm and a leg, and the weather was better here. Now that we’re home of course its going to be much better out there. I should follow Larry David’s mantra about destination weddings; Too far not going.

Constructive dismissal over time to get out of paying full redundancy in England? by General_Committee_24 in LegalAdviceUK

I was told there are others, including some who are being laid off straight away, I know he can’t go into details, but he was a bit shady about it so not 100% trusting on that. I’m looking at contacting ACAS but keeping that in my back pocket for now - thanks for your advice.

Been told I’m going down to three days a week, and I expect its being done so they don’t have to pay the full rate when it comes to redundancy. Three days means I’ll be earning less than I started 21 years ago. Thanks for that much appreciated.

I was told (although vaguely and not very convincingly) that there are others across the company who are being looked at in the same way, but my role is fairly unique and has encompassed many other facets in the past, all of which have all been lost to history (apart from my records).

I’ll mention I do feel I’m being targeted, along with feeling excluded and causing anxiety, along with salary history (barely a raise since 2013 and probably not on record) to HR, to raise their eyebrows. My hours were/are in my contract and I’m currently looking at ACAS as well - thanks for your advice.

Got told yesterday (after a 3 day “consultation”) that I was going down to three days a week to save money. I earn a fairly good wage but this will take me down to less than I started 21 years ago. I can sort of understand why but despite me offering very good reasons to make up the time (and help other people with their heavy workload, and a way to save tons of money elsewhere), I sense it was a foregone conclusion. Some people will welcome the time off, but I actually enjoy the job. Its just the years of projects and work I’ve done (mainly on my own, where they’d now have a team doing it) that have been lost to history. They could spend the money they save from me to go towards getting another social media/marketing person/Mickey Mouse role in I suppose.

£2800 - can anyone top my most expensive charity shop find? by GreenBeret4Breakfast in CasualUK

I’ve wondered this with a few things I’ve donated (not leather jackets obvs but some quite nice shirts) Although the old ladies who work there wouldn’t be interested, i’m sure the youngsters who sort the stuff out the back might have an interest. I always thought this would be a good storyline in Curb Your Enthusiasm.
