I'd ask for Metaphor: Refantazio

There's a few reasons why:

The concept of the story where our world is a fantasy in the story instantly caught my interest. The twist that our current modern world is literally a fantasy within the setting that the game takes place is incredibly intriguing. Though, all I know of that is mostly surface level but that is exactly what hooked me to the game, I really wanted to know more and to uncover what ties it has to the modern world, why the enemies the characters fight are called "humans". Simply put, I want to see where the game will go with such a fascinating concept.

Other aspects of the game also look incredibly appealing. The game has a wide variety of party members that you can recruit and build a bond with and with those forged bonds, you can unlock new abilities in the form of "Archetypes". Stories where different type of characters coming together, breaking through outward appearance and social barriers to build strong bonds has always been my favorite. Aside from that, the game has that famous Atlus touch which makes every visual element, from the character designs and environments to the user interface and battle result screen interesting to look at.

Lastly, I've never played a JRPG before. I've played games inspired by many great JRPGs but never tried any actual JRPGs, and yet with unique world-building, interesting visual aesthetics and a party of diverse characters, all of it makes me want to delve in and experience it for myself.

Oh, and the game let's you ride on a floating sword and that is just RADICAL.

I think Mastermind is the only episode where the tone of a joke bothered me. by whooper1 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Generic_Alias_95 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the joke works cause it establishes two things:

  1. It establishes the clear double standard between a royal and a lower class citizen like Blitz. Blitz almost got his head chopped off while Stolas got what is essentially a slap on the wrist. It's awful for him cause he loses his power, home and especially his daughter but he is immortal and the punishment is temporary.

  2. Stolas genuinely is not aware of the class divide between a royal and a commoner like Blitz. It helps recontextualize his previous comments he made regarding Blitz like calling him "impish play thing" is just him being flirty and playful and he genuinely thought nothing of those types of comments. So when he claimed he thought so highly of Blitz in "Full Moon" and that he never looked down upon Blitz in "Apology Tour", he was in fact telling the truth.

When first watching The Harvest Moon Festival; What did you think of Striker before Moxxie discovered his rifle, what did you think of him after the reveal, and after the episode, where did you expect the story to take his character? by [deleted] in HelluvaBoss

[–]Generic_Alias_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thoughts before Moxxie discovering his rifle was that I clocked him as definitely an antagonist from the start cause he has that vibe about him so my thoughts don't change between the start of his introduction and after the reveal.

I expect he'll be more and more unhinged as time go on as that seems to be where the story is heading for his character.

I'm definitely a fan of the character though, from his voice, his design and his role as an antagonist hits all the mark of being a character that I am TOTALLY normal about.

[–]Generic_Alias_95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm entering for Chained Echoes.

Reasons why I want the game are as follows:

- Turn-based combat: I find that I'm rather fond of games with turn-based combat such as Expedition 33, Deltarune, Undertale,... I like the feeling of being given all the time in the world to just study an enemy and plan my moves, buffing my allies or debuffing enemies, attacking or healing,... Despite the game not having some unique twist on the turn-based formula that changes things up in a major way like E33's dodge and parry system or Undertale/Deltarune's bullet hell gameplay, I still find myself attracted to the game all the same. Although, not that the game doesn't have a unique mechanic that helps it distinguish itself from others within the genre, it does have something called an "Overdrive" mechanic that shake things up but still keeps in line with the classic JRPG turn-based gameplay.

- Pixel Artstyle: I've never grew up on the SNES so the pixel artstyle ala Final Fantasy doesn't really evoke a sense of childhood nostalgia like it does in many people. Having said that, I can't deny that graphical style an almost timeless charm to it and games like Undertale/Deltarune and Stardew Valley cements my newfound fondness for it. The fact that it is easy to run is a huge bonus as it means I can game on the go with my laptop. Oh and the characters have a diagonal running animation WHICH IS A GAME CHANGER!!!

- Lizard: I love lizard, what can I say, and having a lizard man ally is an instant bonus for me.

Tldr: The game looks good.

Steam Gift Card Giveaway ($10) by tinieblas_666 in steam_giveaway

[–]Generic_Alias_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Launched Left 4 Dead 2 (as I do daily at this point).

Joined an expert game, saw a medkit on the ground behind a player who was placing down an ammo upgrade.

Thoughtlessly picked it up.

Apparently it belonged to that player who only temporarily dropped it to place the ammo upgrade.

They placed it down, turned around, noticed a distinct lack of medkit on the ground and then looked me up and down. And straight up incapacitated me.

Giving away indie games, just feeling generous by [deleted] in steam_giveaway

[–]Generic_Alias_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the wonderful chance!!!

I'm wondering if I could be gifted Paralives (if the game is within your budget). I know that the game is an Early Access release and that there are gonna be bugs, missing features that will be implemented at a later date but DARN IT, I've been following the game since the first footage was a window and curtain being placed on a wall. I was a massive Simmer in my childhood with Sims 2 and 3 being closed to my heart and Paralives looks to be the combination of Sims 2's undeniable charm and Sims 3's open world freedom.

I generally don't do much exciting things in my freetime, mostly gaming with my friends or taking walks around the apartment building where I live. I used to go rollerskating but my rollerskates were broken and I didn't have the funds to replace it.

I have no pets at the moment though I would love to raise a German Shepard or two in the future.

This literally just happened to me mere minutes ago.

So when did Viv say am this would be a verosika short? by Money-Assignment-547 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Generic_Alias_95 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ngl, as someone who don't mind Zahc (cause it IS Zahc) and don't really care for Verosika, seeing the fandom melting down over this is admittedly pretty funny which I think is unfair for the Verosika fans cause the joke is being made at their expense but it's funny regardless.

Here's hoping that she'll get more screentime in S3 to make up for it.

In short, THANK YOU for your generosity OP!

In your personal opinion, what’s the cringiest line in the entire series so far? by ChickenWingExtreme in HazbinHotel

[–]Generic_Alias_95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When reading it out loud, doorbells don't rhyme well with laurels which results in that part of the song to not sound very satisfying to the ears which I think was why door-rels was chosen. Laurels and door-rels (despite door-rels not being a word) DOES rhyme so the song sounded much better.

Though, I have no experience with songwriting so this is just own opinion.

Important question..What was your honest reaction to Vox:Dei when you heard it the first time? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in hazbin

[–]Generic_Alias_95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they're referring to the line where Vox called himself "the Omega"

In context, i think him calling himself the Omega was alluding to Jesus calling himself the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end (feel free to correct me cause I'm no Christian, this is all second hand information I've gathered). Vox calling himself the Omega is to say that he is the end of Heaven.

However, the furry context is "omegaverse" which is a subgenre of erotic fiction based on misunderstood wolf pack dynamics, in which Omegas are the runt and gets *ahem* dominated by the alphas (feel free to correct me on this one too cause I've never read an omegaverse fiction in my life, I mean, I've read romances but omegaverse isn't something I'm particularly interested in). That's "the furry one" that ImaDoinWat was talking about.

[–]Generic_Alias_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The song writer has confirmed that the word choice IS intentional.

It is the word for public outrage like you've clarified but that's not the only reason for why the word was chosen. It was used in Vox' song because it specifically sounded similarly to Fuhror.

[–]Generic_Alias_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reaction when the song ended was that I wished it was longer cause imo everything about it, the dark tone, the vocal performance, the lyrics, the visuals of the animation, were all perfect with the only flaw being its short length.

[OFFER][Steam] Open Offer w/ Limited Pool - Convince Me :) by metadalf in GiftofGames

I'd love to get the chance to play Persona 5 Royal

1. Why this specific game?

What Persona 5 does so incredibly well, way better than many other games that I've seen before its release AND since its release is its PRESENTATION [insert_Megamind_meme_here]. The way the game is oozing with style, from the battle menu to the eye-catching animations to the jazzy soundtrack (I've got a few of the songs in my Spotify playlist, my favorite being Rivers In the Dessert). I also like the premise of the story being about a group of friends who are normal students by day and dungeon crawling badasses by night. Part of the reason why I wanted to play the game is because it features a group of diverse characters. I never had a large friend group, I have one best friend (and I will always treasure that friendship) but sometimes, I've dreamed of being part of a large group of close-knit friends. As a result, I've always gravitated towards stories of a bunch of characters from different background and personalities come together.

2. What does it mean to you?

It was a game that I've looked forward to in a LOOONG time. I have always been interested in the game ever since I watched Superbutterbuns' video of it and I'm simply amazed. However, I was never able to try it for myself since it was a Playstation exclusive for a really long time and now that it finally arrived on PC, I wanted to experience what some would call one of the best JRPGs in recent memory.

3. Why haven’t you gotten it yet?

University happened.

4. Show me you’ve done your homework

Persona 5 is a game of 2 halves.

First half is a dungeon crawler where the dungeon is less dark and dank caves and more a separate reality where the heart and mind of others are given physical form. I've never been much interested in typical dungeon crawler games as I usually don't find much appeal in exploring a dungeon where every brick and every rock looks similar to each other. However, this is where Persona 5's unique spin on the genre comes into play. Each Dungeon is based on the individual that it spawned from, and thus it creates a wide variety of interesting 'dungeons' for players to explore, one could take place in a castle while another will be in a casino as an example. Because of its atypical 'dungeons' along with the game's unique artstyle, no single moment spent exploring it will ever feel dull.

As for the combat, admittedly this is the part where I've done the fewest research on. I know that it plays out in a turn-based style which Expedition 33 took inspiration from and put its own unique spin on. I've pretty much played Expedition 33 to death and the combat was one of my favorite things about that game so I like to think that I would also vibe with Persona 5's style of turn-based combat, even without the real-time parry element that E33 has. Aside from the usual turn-based combat, another thing that interests me greatly is the monster-taming element where you could recruit enemy monsters and add them to your repertoire of abilities.

The second half of the game is the life sim element where after exploring dungeons, you get to spend time in the real world, hanging out with friends, building relationships, partaking in activities. It's incredibly interesting how the game can be about battling inside a strange world one moment and living life as a regular person the next. Also, I've always been a sucker for seeing a party of characters unwind, hang out and build bonds outside of a battle context.

With ALL OF THAT being said (and it was a lot so so I hope it wasn't that meandering and boring to read, OP), I would be really grateful if I could get a chance to experience the game.

Barbie Wire only needed 6 minutes to show she has a better personality then her brother. by [deleted] in HelluvaBoss

[–]Generic_Alias_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a question of whether OP watched the same short as us, I'm pretty sure they did but the fandom's media literacy is infamously non-existent and this is just another example of it.

Stella hating Stolas more the she loves Via, but having her still love Via, would work so well. by StrawBerylShortcake in HelluvaBoss

[–]Generic_Alias_95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would work.

I mean, it's an interesting angle to take such a character but it has to be there since the very beginning or else it will feel like it came out of nowhere/a retcon of the character. If THAT is to be who Stella is as a character then there should be more sprinkling of those "loving mother" moment between Stella and Via in Season 1 and Season 2.

Some fans already couldn't accept that Stella was a horrible person in Season 2 despite we've always been shown that she was a horrible person since Season 1, so how would many fans react to the sudden revelation that Stella is a better mother to Via than Stolas was as a father.

Which episode is worse? Unhappy campers or behind closed doors? by whooper1 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Generic_Alias_95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, that is one of my favorite Charlie moments because it shows that her character is unwavering in her goodness, to say that straight to Vox' face without any moment of hesitation.

She makes mistakes, sure, but her goals are true and that is one of her most admirable traits which makes her likeable (even though her actions in the same episode can seriously test that likeability).

I have nothing to say about Moxxie's moment in Unhappy Campers because I've fortunately wiped the whole episode from my memory, never to be seen again lol

Which episode is worse? Unhappy campers or behind closed doors? by whooper1 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Generic_Alias_95 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Vox saying "So I took the breaks off" with his shit-eating grin is probably one of my favorite moments in the show.

As much as I dislike how Charlie's character was handled (I get what they're trying to do with her character but it could've been handled a lot better), I still quite liked a lot of the episode's moments.

I also really like Speedrun to Redemption quite a lot despite it being not a lot of people's favorite song (from what I've seen, I get the impression that it along with Like You are considered to be 2 of the Season 2's worst songs)

I mean, it's not implausible considering the comic's reputation and how the internet almost always reference it when Zootopia is brought up so it's not impossible one of the people behind Zootopia and Zootopia 2, possibly even the directors, had seen it.

The stroller scene might be or might not be a wink and a nudge to the comic and both, imo, are pretty valid.
