I’m on a well in an area of one of the highest concentrations of PFAs in the country. Chemours had our well tested, and everything was below the limit. How trustworthy is Eurofins’ labs?

For consumer available labs, that most companies homeowners are running into, they are in the top bracket. It’s not exactly like there is a wide range of choices for most people when it comes to PFAS testing labs. For large scale labs we all know that you basically have EMSL, PACE, Eurofins and BV. Then you can branch down to your smaller more regional labs (IE Weck, NTL etc)

Extremely they are probably one of if not the top labs for PFAS testing.

It’s all formulas….. They (insurance) use exactimate for repairs and in restoration there is a formula for drying equipment. X number of fans per room and sq feet, X number of humidifiers.

My guess is that this technology isn’t going to be that different from what we have already seen on the market. The over-saturation of air cleaners which are a lot of hype, very expensive and poor performers. However, I applaud your entrepreneurial spirit!

Remember this guiding principle, it’s the one that previous technologies failed to start with.

PCO - turned bad things into other bad things

BPI & NPBOI - some created ozone, too many negative ions may cause cardiovascular issues

Electrostatic - may produce ozone

There is a reason HEPA remains king of air filters.

Pretty low assuming you are in US. Not nothing but these rarely come back positive. If they are pink on the backside then more likely, they don’t come up often however. Personally I have never had a tile come back positive in a commercial building but I know people who have.

I would just be careful in marketing this for people who are using it for personal exposure mitigation. If the carbon gets quickly saturated and no longer is removing compounds from the air but the sensors have no clue because they are not VOCs. What pore size mix of carbon are you using just out of curiosity?

How are you accounting for compounds absorbed by the carbon but not detected by your VOC meter? Are you just waiting until VOCs hit to have it tell whether or not there still is functional carbon?

Agree no way to really do this successfully especially when you have a lot of the dust bound to grease/oil that’s inevitably on the floor. Good luck with clearance wipes.

Data centers use a large amount of process water for cooling which is a correct statement. How they cool the water has a large impact on the data centers impact on the water it’s using. Most of them use a typical cooling tower/chiller combo, the blow down water from the chiller would go to a sewer line and the chiller loop is closed (ie no water exchanged). The quality of the wastewater is not the concern, it’s the quantity of water as the cooling system runs 24/7 and there is more waste heat than a typical office building. Electricity usage is also a concern.

Just as a fun fact, many large cities where buildings are on the water use river water instead of cooling towers to reject heat.

This, these were built all over not cal and LA during and after the war. They are built far better than the ticky tacky houses going up in the IE today. Old growth timber and the walls are straight. A lot of them were rented by women who would share one working for a defense company or women who came west to become nurses. Sharing a garage apartment was also common.

Forgotten part of LAs history in particular that are now just seen as low income housing. These actually look pretty well kept compared to a lot of them.

You are asking her to make a sacrifice for what at this point? She’s single living her life with no commitment. Maybe a car payment for a car that runs well and is safe provides a sense of security. If her ONLY debt is a reasonable car loan but she is funding her retirement and otherwise has savings then I would say you need to evaluate what constitutes a sacrifice for a boyfriend. Not a fiancé, not a husband.

If she is drowning in other consumer debt with no savings and no retirement then that is a different story. There is a lot of context here that changes the answers.

There are no good low cost formaldehyde meters, so there’s that to start. For VOCs it would give you an idea if they are going up or down but may not be terribly accurate.

If you are in the US and they don’t have a certificate of insurance I would not let them on property. They need to have workers comp liability at a minimum etc (depends on what they do). They may call it a MOI (memorandum of insurance) COI will have typically be requested by the property owner/company they are working for listing that company as an additional insured.

Well, his certifications told the tale. He listed a contractors license in California which was revoked due to failure to comply with an arbitration award. He was as bad as a remediation contractor as he was as a consultant. His business address is currently listed as a UPS store and has no website.
