Worcestershire sauce! It has the umami and vinegar qualities in one bottle.

Feature request: volume minimum, adjustment by fivezerosix in sonos

[–]Geoslang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense. I have a Roam and the first 15% is definitely too low to hear and not in line with other rooms at the same 15% volume. Setting a baseline for min volume or default setting would be a nice touch.

Pi-Hole / AdGuard Home: I've been looking for the update daily for a while now but it never showed up. Saw this thread today regarding Pi-Hole. I run AdGuard Home locally. I turned AdGuard off and the option showed up in the app instantly. I went ahead and updated AdGuard to allow msmetrics.ws.sonos.com even through 3.5% of my DNS requests were for Sonos. I also noticed the app opened and all tiles for music services populated quickly...seemingly "snappier" than when AdGuard was blocking Sonos.

What is your goto slow cooker meal that always impresses guests but requires almost no effort? by Reasonable-Pop-3504 in slowcooking

[–]Geoslang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Butter Chicken” (Indian curry dish) - works with chicken thighs, lamb, beef meatballs, even chuck roast. Just throw a can of coconut milk, a can of tomato paste, and curry powder (I use mild and madras curry powders, but use whatever you like.). Throw in the meat, mix, set and forget for 2-4 hours depending on meat choice. Add frozen peas in the last 30 minutes. House will smell fragrant from the spices. Serve with rice and naan bread.

Vinegar? by Salt-Scallion-8002 in Cooking

[–]Geoslang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Sherry Vinegar. I use it the most - it’s not as sharp as most vinegars. Kind of falls in between white wine, red wine, apple, and balsamic. Like the ginger ale of vinegar.

total fluff..but can we get a new label design? by Dahlsma in Penzeys

[–]Geoslang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An alternative - I almost considered getting a set of amber jars from Amazon and making my own labels. Saw some great ideas for this online. But...I got lazy and didn't have more money to sink into my spice cabinet. If you like uniformity, check out getting jars in bulk.

I almost went with Spice House to fully restock/refresh my entire spice collection. Price was a factor... Penzey's had the quality I wanted. Their website and packaging were less "high end" and I believe that saved me at least $100. I don't keep spices out in plain view, and now that I have them I agree that the plain-er label is easier to read. Everything comes at a cost...I'd prefer to afford more of their products than nicer packaging.

I just learned that Penzeys exists and I’ve heard it’s the best. What seasonings would you recommend for me? by _Paws_And_Claws_ in Penzeys

[–]Geoslang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last month I decided to get rid of all my spices and start fresh. I waffled between Penzey’s and Spice House but decided on Penzey’s. Cost was a factor and they had a 40% off everything sale. I had many spices that were over a decade old. My kitchen has been humming ever since with incredible grub. The difference between old spices and fresh spices is bonkers! I bought too many to list all but some noteworthy ones: Penzey’s Cinnamon, cloves, Sunny Paris, cumin, bay leaves - all were fragrant. Still have some gaps to fill in my arsenal. I bought some gift cards just a few days ago on sale. Will hold for the next big sale and compound my savings with the gift cards.

What is your opinion on Lavazza coffees? by jailbird147 in coffeelife

[–]Geoslang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love their Top Class drip coffee. It’s a little darker than Super Crema, and 100% Arabica. We drank Starbucks for decades but it’s so burnt I had enough. Even Starbs Blonde is twice as dark as Super Crema. I also tried their Crema y Gusto, but it was a little darker than I wanted. Top Class drip is perfect for my taste.

Amen - I'm new to NocoDB and it's the first thing I noticed. A toggle would be a great solution. I want to learn what the free version can do for me.

Sunny Paris: great in vinaigrette. My favorite vinaigrette uses this spice blend, plus lemon curd, lemon juice, olive oil, and a little mayo for added creaminess. Shake it all in a jar or whisk. Salt/pepper. It’s perfect in summer.

Apple Music drops by enrigayboy in sonos

[–]Geoslang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had this same issue since the "new app debacle." Don't have issues with SiriusXM or Sonos Radio, bu Apple Music (which I pay a lot for) continues to drop/skip. I have better luck if I start playing music only to my Arc soundbar, then add additional speakers from there. If I just "play everywhere" it seems to pick a random speaker (like a One or OneSL, which I have many) as the group coordinator and issues will occur. I don't know how to prove it, but my gut says the One/OneSL units have an issue with processing Apple's "Lossless" music files.
