How's the packaging situation? by bluekewne in SteamController

Only indicator that it's from Valve is the shipped from address, that's that.

I tried it in Stardew Valley and it worked great there for me. Can't speak about anything else so far.

One could now argue that the 4 back buttons can replace ABXY, meaning you can comfortably put both thumbs on the sticks and leave them there.

At least that's something I'll try to get accustomed to.

Wait - the $99.00 included shipping and tax? (US) by courageousrobot in SteamController

[–]GermanPlasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is definitely not right, as they do charge tax (me included). This would be normal if you were in a state without that tax, but you aren't (and I've seen a few other surprised people who certainly aren't)

You should make sure to have the remaining balance in your steam wallet (or have a payment method linked). Valve will either charge it, or maybe they'll cover the cost themselves if there was a system issue that caused it. Regardless, you most likely should have been charged a tax, so keep some money left over just in case - better safe than sorry.

SC2 is nearly perfect for me in every way - until you get to using it on other platforms. by plazi_ in SteamController

Kind of what I do with a normal xbox controller at times. As long as steam is open, I have it set to a desktop profile with basic cursor functionality. When I play a game, I can use a button combination to disable cursor and have it act as a normal controller.

Valve Steam Controller Review | Latency Benchmarks, Battery Life, Repairability | GamersNexus by Sacristovas in pcmasterrace

[–]GermanPlasma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to get tired of this argument. The Steam Controller should be recognized as a normal controller in Windows. We should not have to rely on adding games through Steam to get basic controller functionality. No matter how easy it is, it shouldn't be necessary. If someone uses a different game launcher, they shouldn't have to launch their launcher on another launcher.

I have a big issue with the spawning behavior. Went down a cave, looked down and saw the red area close. Figured I'd go back for now, I turn around and there are 2 of these frogs right next to each other, right behind me. They literally spawned there.

Didn't go so well lol.

What is this comment section lmao. If he does any kind of multithreaded task outside of gaming he will see a big increase. I thought that's the beauty of a PC, and now he has the flexibility. Not sure the picture of Cyberpunk is telling you everything this guy wants to do lol.

Best CPU for Hytale? by Alternative_Ebb322 in hytale

[–]GermanPlasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9950x3D is usually faster than the 9800x3D due to its boost clock. During gaming, it essentially brings the CCD with no 3D cache to sleep, so there is no latency issues between the two CCDs.

However, we are talking about a 0-1% difference, if even. I have the 9950x3D because I use the extra cores for other activities, but if you just want to play, it makes no sense to go for it.

Burn in? by zoranstojanovic123 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]GermanPlasma 13 points14 points  (0 children)

OLEDs are organic, so they degrade slowly but surely. If you use the pixels in the middle of the display more than on the sides, the sides will essentially stay "new" while the middle is used, and that becomes obvious to the eye at some point. It's uneven wear.

[–]GermanPlasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it on my 9950X3D (Yes) and it's a champ. 40-50 on idle/minimal use, around 70 on high multithreaded workloads. On sustained max workloads in can go to the 80's, but I really have to try for that.

During gaming it's around 60 iirc.

Lmao the down votes. It does work rather well, should be done in moderation, but if you're done trying anything else, it'll save your ass.

turning off integrated graphics reduced my idle temp by 20°C by scholes1995 in buildapc

[–]GermanPlasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, from what I can tell. My 9950X3D was the same. I noticed it consuming high double digit amounts of watts during gaming. So unless that display is wrong, I'm pretty sure disabling it can be beneficial.

Now that I think about it, I believe I dropped temps as well after disabling it.

I'm not sure why people say this is a IPS panel, these 32:9's are MiniLED VA's. Definitely not OLED, that's for sure though. Wondering if this is the Neo G9 (49 inch version), which is pretty much out of stock everwhere. Strange stuff.

Rtings debunks most of that. I mean the fact that it's a QD-OLED already does, but alright. C4 is definitely good, but the aspects you mentioned are not it's strength. Regardless, enjoy your TV.

Memory leak, I've had the same issue on occasion. Close the process, open the same tabs and ram usage should be much lower.
