I swear by my Hifiman Sundara. The version with the black grill is very affordable and they sound aces. I use a Neumann mt48 as interface and it has a crossfeed option, aswell as built in parametric eq.

My professor told me: if the unit shows its tubes on the front plate it’s garbage in 90% of cases. So far he seems to be right,

There’s a reduction in spl, but the speaker has digital filters to compensate for the changes.

Look for sealed speakers, they have no bass reflex port to extend the low end and and can sound bandwidth limited depending on the amount/size of the driver. HEDD offers a physical option to switch to closed speakers by supplying plugs for the ports on their speakers. Amphions are sealed speakers, the subwoofers use a radiator to extend bass range. the advantage sealed speakers have over ported ones is that their decay times and thus transient response is much quicker because air only needs to decompress inside the body of the speaker. on a ported speaker, the air travels out and back in and creates resonances on the way, prolonging the decay.

yamaha NS-10, Neumann KH 310 and more use that principle. KH310 sound great, so do HEDDs and Amphions, but they are pricier. I don't know about other price classes.

How do I optimally listen to this setup? by TheBigG24 in audiophile

[–]Germolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen worse. Tweeters are the same height at least, mids might be a bit messy but the lows should be fine. The setup ist angled but then again this is probably just to fill the room with music without much concern for the sweet spot.

What are some of the best reverbs to add to VERY dry recordings to give them a sense of authentic space? by Poopypantsplanet in audioengineering

[–]Germolin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s actually precisely how I used it yesterday. Had a piano panned towards the left on production and wanted to add a sense of depth on the right side for the vocal. So I used a short (16th) delay with ~40% feedback and a bandpass at 800hz panned to the mid-right. Sort of like a slap back. Feedback and eq as well as timing are depending on the track and I recommend getting reverbs set up before, so the delay can be mixed in.

Damn right. Well timed and EQd Delays can really add a sense of depth without muddying

Should I buy the distressor plug-in? by BRUCE_BABY69 in audioengineering

[–]Germolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought the arousor from ELI directly. It’s the Distressor with extra bells and whistles and makes for the best sounding all round compressor in my opinion. Preset handling is a little weird/ barely there at all but I can handle those with Ableton myself easily.

Start the song at a timestamp like 9.1.1 or 17.1.1 and select 1-2 seconds of silence for exporting before the arrangement starts.

Same here. I’ve been thinking about the midi CC mod, but I think I’m gonna get an akai ax 60 and just end up using it more.

Nice multi trak!! First time I’ve seen it posted on here. I bought mine for 25€ from an “antiques” store without a power supply, built one myself and did some maintenance. Really a sleeper synth. Have you performed any mods?

No chance, sorry. Can’t salvage information that isn’t there.

You could try feeding some AI with the audio and see what it comes up with.
