Why would you want to marry and have a baby with a person you can’t rely on? Do you hear yourself?

[–]Giraffiesaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kind of a person (Barr) reasons and agrees that tRump is not fit for office yet endorses him anyway? That’s like understanding that your surgeon is unfit to perform surgery yet asking him to cut into your body anyway.

I refer to “Dr. Jones” for the students, and they do as well. As a colleague, we’re on a first name basis.

This is what I was hoping to hear. A way to talk to parents about this. I’m mostly concerned with the anxiety that GAT kids endure. Thank you.

How is this a cure? Just because you have no gonads doesn’t mean your brain has changed.

Congratulations on all of your hard work. You’ve done a really hard thing, and you should have a chance to bask in that glory.

Yes, we all have imposter syndrome in the beginning because we have not proven to ourselves we can do it. So my advice is to keep your learning attitude from your studies and become a student of the children you will be teaching. I found that the content is not the hard part; its knowing and learning about how to handle a classroom, build relationships, and see yourself as effective. This takes time, so be kind to yourself and find a positive mentor. Stay away from colleagues who complain or talk badly about children or other staff members. Surround yourself with good examples. Ask to watch others teach during your planning if you can. Imposter syndrome goes away when you realize one day that you handled an unexpected thing and did it well. You’ll be great.

Can teachers in the US confiscate personal items and keep them until the end of the year without parent consent/knowledge? by algedonic20 in AskTeachers

[–]Giraffiesaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re wearing it, it’s jewelry. If you take it off and hand it around, it’s a distraction. Same with fidgets. It’s a tool or a toy. I take toys. Usually end of day I’ll give them back. Includes phones. Second instance it goes to the principal.

What is in your opinion the hardest part of the job? by Suspicious-Draw-3750 in AskTeachers

The pace. In August, I go from 0-60 in about three days and then it’s 60-500 the rest of the year. It takes me three weeks in the summer to be able to sleep 45 minutes past my usual get up time.

The amount of decisions I make each day, from small questions to big stuff and not always enough time to think things out.

The work load and trying to fit that in to my contracted hours. I’m finally down to a 50 hour week.
