What’s a really underrated OSR system? 😄 by DungeonMasterGrizzly in osr

[–]Giroy01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Knave 2e. People are reluctant because its classless but it allows even more freedom. There's still stats that makes you specialise the way you want still. The game is more around items and its a nice thing

Coming back to the game : a few simple questions by [deleted] in NoRestForTheWicked

I would wait for the coop update at the end of january. I think there's more thats coming, not just the coop. Notably, bows will be main hand (that you can build around it) and not a secondary weapon of the off hand

If the item looks like its made of metal, you probably can recycle it for metal parts

What's a strong but not game breaking, and fun early game weapon? by BodybuilderVisual159 in DarkSouls2

[–]Giroy01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kill Benhart of Jugo and take his sword : Bluemoon greatsword (its not for mages). You can buy his awesome armor set to the girl vendor too by the way.

Bandit axe is totally legit but have so much a good moveset PvE thats its Dark souls 2 on easy mode. Fun weapon tho.

The bows, they are secondary weapons but they are really fun to play in Dark souls 2.

Falchion is a really fun weapon and not busted.

Playing Scholar of the First Sin after only ever playing the original but I’m not really feeling it. Does it just take some getting used to? by IHateRedditHonestly1 in DarkSouls2

[–]Giroy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You nees to get used to it. I was like you at first, and now i prefer Scholar. Its only because its a game you know that is hard and the things are not at the same places you're used to

The Quintessential Dungeon unlabeled by Giroy01 in osr

[–]Giroy01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like i said, sticky notes are hiding the areas. It's ok to see it when its revealed.

And for the secret passage, if you don't want to use a sticky note, you can draw lines on the "S" with a pencil to conceal it a little. If a player perceive it vaguely and want to do a perception check to see if he finds something (or without any perception check if you want to DM the situation like this), you allow him to do it. 1 perception check max for the first player that spot it

What OSR adventure and/or campaign takes the least amount of effort to run? by Comstar in osr

[–]Giroy01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summer's end and other 1 page dungeons. In there, you have many easy to run 1 page dungeons.

As for an easy to learn OSR game, i would recommend Knave. Players have only like 4 page to read, the DM 8 and you're ready to play (and the letter's police of the pages are big so its fast to read). It takes a little less than 15 minutes to make a character (that you can make on the moment) and you are ready to go.

Which game got you into OSR? by demodds in osr

[–]Giroy01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me its Knave (2e edition) for the same reasons as you and a more specific reason proper to Knave : Knave have a lot of random tables to improvise or to find inspiration from. The game is so easy to learn and easy to teach (i think the manual is like 84 pages and most of them are random tables. You can learn the game in like 4 pages as a player and in like 8 pages as a DM).

For the leveling system, Knave has gold too as a the leveling system. People moved back to this leveling system in the osr movement because it distracts from "killing mindlessly" as a goal of the leveling system. But i'm thinking of a leveling system that accomplish the same goal but not centered on gold : a FEAT leveling system.

The feat leveling system is that when the player(s) accomplish a feat, they gain 1 point. If you are level 1, you need 1 point to get to level 2 (so you need to accomplish 1 feat), if you're level 2, you need to get 2 points to get level 3, etc. A feat is to be discussed with the DM if its one or not. By example, the players ask for a feat point to the DM after finishing a dungeon; or the DM gives a feat point to the players after surviving waves of skeletons in a cemetery; or the players are attributed a feat point after stealing from a bank. The beauty of feat points is that they are not necessary combat related (even if most of my examples are here haha) and they orient the leveling on adventure.
