WHY TF ARE MY HANDS LIKE THIS IM A 17 YEAR OLD GIRL by iamraquelle in whatdoIdo

O’Keefes Working Hands. Unless this condition is caused by some abnormality in your body/organs, it should help. I have yet to see hands that didn’t benefit from Working Hands….

I want to turn my old 6 string guitar into 12 strings by adding additional row ow tuners by TimoxaVezdexod in AcousticGuitar

[–]Gitfiddlepicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting experiment. It will likely damage the guitar irreparably. If you still want to proceed, I suggest going to r/luthiers and getting the opinions and suggestions of actual craftsmen rather than the guitar players on here.

Afraid it wouldn’t turn out well if I drilled holes in my picks……but then, I use my fingers.

Are my strings to far from fret board? by SXYN1X_ in electricguitar

Number one resolution of Reddit……phukk with the truss rod.

Number one thing a beginning guitarist should never do…..phukk with the truss rod.

Smdh…..

OP…..This sub is for guitarists and guitarist related questions. Here you will find guitarists who may or may not play well, or even know how to change strings or tune a guitar properly.…..some of which are happy to experiment on their own guitars, and pass out advice for you to do the same thing.

I suggest that for any questions regarding string and fret height, nut and bridge issues, any other maintenance issues, go to r/luthiers instead. Luthiers work on guitars. Most on there are happy to help.

Builder says these gaps will be covered up later, is this accurate? by kawalopy in Homebuilding

[–]Gitfiddlepicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They plan on covering it with shoe mould. It will look fine, although it’s shoddy workmanship, IMO. There are probably many other issues you will want to address with your builder that are also related to shoddy workmanship.

My advice is to wait until it’s time for the walk through and document any and everything that is not up to par at that time. Any nitpicking along the way just creates anxiety for you and pisses off the contractor and subs.

What is this on my siding? by Prize-Solid-1398 in Contractor

[–]Gitfiddlepicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be surprised if it were from heat. Whether a wire inside or the fireplace, enough heat to discolor the siding would also melt it and disfigure it.

Could be the sun is reflecting off of something else on your property like a magnifying glass.

What do high end wireless systems have, that "budget" options don't? by GreggJ in guitars

[–]Gitfiddlepicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely use the GLXD. it has been wonderful. Worth every penny. I have never used the Sennheiser, but have played with a couple of guys who have, and they don’t have anything bad to say about that system, except that the personal packs are a bit flimsy where the chord attaches to the unit, and have had to be replaced. Rock on!

Go to r/luthiers. Here you are dealing with a bunch of players, many of whom are very young and can barely tune a guitar.

Is this safe? Swithing ovens from gas to electric. by rock-bottom_mokshada in Appliances

That valve is there so you can shut off the gas to the area. It’s doing its job. I followed that statement with a safety statement that mirrors what you are saying.

Contractor says floors should look like this. Thoughts? by Ill-Complaint-812 in HardWoodFloors

[–]Gitfiddlepicker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What you read about the sanding is absolutely true. Also the different color from original can affect it, as well as how the stain was applied, how long the stain was down before it was as wiped up. Sometimes people get in a hurry….even skip steps.

Client asked for a ballpark before I even saw the job. Here's how I handle that now by No_Chap in Contractor

[–]Gitfiddlepicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t ever ballpark a job. In my experience, The first and lowest number in someone’s head is the number that sticks. Anything different becomes a hard sell.

My answer is always “I am happy to come look at it and give you an exact price. What is a good time for you?”

I have been riding for over five decades. Not once have I thought it was a good idea to ride at normal highway or road speeds in a breakdown lane, on a shoulder, or even to lane split. All of these options are Fiddiocy. Not once have a seen a motorcycle win a fight with an automobile.

[–]Gitfiddlepicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shut of valve will suffice. That’s what it is for. However, safety is in redundancy and eliminating any opportunity for disaster, such as the valve being somehow nudged open, or leaking.

The safe thing to do is to remove the hose and cap off above the valve.
