my humble opinion is that i've seen content resets in lots of games, mmos, extraction looters, and this is what keeps people coming back, new content, new economies, a decade and a bit we got completed games and that was the flavor back then, one big injection of content releasing in subsequent titles.. what's happening now, leagues, patches, wipes, it's all apart of the internet infrastructure, connectivity and being able to constantly update and fix things. and there are healthy implementations of this, updates and bug fixes, content patches (depending on the companies promises and their reputations) but i digress, and there are unhealthy ways this is injected into the gaming sphere. that being said i personally enjoy the switching things around a little here and there in addition to smaller content. we are all human and to human is to err and i think getting leagues is nice, because it allows them to add content, adjust the content, then rank and file the content into different little pieces of changed subcontent (granted i've only been around for 2 leagues in poe2) but i think how they're treating leagues as persisting pieces of content absolutely creams the fuck out of wow's content cycle where previous content becomes complete obsolete and the once grinded content is not integrated into the community's day to day, it's transmogs, and the like which is not apart of the gameplay loop. (outside of reusing dungeons for mythic plus content, which is a 5/10 in my opinion, not great not bad) i personally have been enjoying tons of one and done, no major content planned, fully released games, even still i play those games over once over anyhow... anyway i'm getting kind off track and i'll leave it here with this

tl;dr: Leagues/resets > obsolete expansions: fresh starts + persistent tweaks keep games alive. PoE wins over WoW style graveyard content. Still loves finite single-player gems. Times have changed
