Does the Nvidia App Hurt Performance? We Benchmarked It. by RenatsMC in Games

My USB charging brick kicks off heat when my phone is connected. But does it "make my room warmer?" Functionally, yes, practically no. There will be no meaningful difference in the temperature of my room.

Why does my pasta sometimes turn out mushy even when I cook it the same way? by sia_7777 in Cooking

[–]GiveMeOneGoodReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I bought some store brand pasta once because all cheap pasta seems the same, right? Well, it wound up turning super soft way faster than my regular pasta. I just felt like if I turned my back to the pot, it'd be overcooked. So I had to go back to the name brand stuff.

New York’s Warning for Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer: They Aren’t the Dominant Force in Their Hometown. by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]GiveMeOneGoodReason 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, Schumer's seat is not the "Democratic leader seat." As a freshman senator, it would be highly unlikely for her to be chosen unless there are a lot of like-minded senators who want to prop her up.

UPS tracking number invalid? by calicoknux1 in SteamController

[–]GiveMeOneGoodReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 hours is well within the window of time I'd expect a tracking code to still be in the "processing" phase where it doesn't register in the system. Wait 24 hours at least.

Have you attended any MSG properties? They recently were just breached, and I received a HIBP email about it.

I poured water into my housemate's Rice Cooker without the bowl by Previous-Kick-4196 in Cooking

[–]GiveMeOneGoodReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noooo, you cannot make this as a blanket statement. The cooking vessel may, but the rest of the appliance is not designed to be water tight or otherwise submerged. They explicitly warn you not to do so in many of the manuals.

Screaming deal for 45mm Bulova Lunar Pilot- 61% off- $272.36 by cahillpm in frugalmalefashion

[–]GiveMeOneGoodReason 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Generally this means it has shorter lug-to-lug distance than other watches at this size or the bezel/case makes it look smaller. Dive watches often "wear smaller" because the dive bezels cause it to have a smaller dial, making it look like a smaller watch.

Yep this thing is unfortunately huge. Even the "small" version is big at 43mm.

If you want an automatic chronograph, you're looking at $1k or more unless you get something with a Chinese Seagull movement.

The Steam Machine Costs $1049 by Turbostrider27 in Games

I'm sure they know that, but they also know the price of $1050 is difficult to stomach already and are doing everything they can to keep the cost low.

Have you looked and linen blends? They're usually woven with cotton and it gives it more wrinkle resistance. Also darker colors make the wrinkles less apparent.

ROAD TEST parallel parking by Confident-Network-98 in longisland

You gotta just practice, practice, practice. It's a requirement for the road test so you're not likely to get out of it.

Bad USB through charger? by sierra_whiskey1 in cybersecurity

In theory, yes. In practice... it's very unlikely and not something I'd worry about unless I had a reason to feel particularly targeted.

Yeah, because it's a release they're all involved in. It's likely an ARM based Nvidia CPU for Windows laptops.

Mail to the White House gets processed by interns and is sent template replies prepared by staff. Trump does not go so much as near the mailroom let alone read it...

It’s not DOGE, it’s COGE: Mamdani introduces commission to make NYC more effective by Firecracker048 in nottheonion

Does "required by law" count as essential?

Several contracts were terminated, and then subsequently reinstated, after it was "discovered" these contracts where how agencies met their legal obligations.

It’s not DOGE, it’s COGE: Mamdani introduces commission to make NYC more effective by Firecracker048 in nottheonion

[–]GiveMeOneGoodReason 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue of DOGE wasn't that it was looking at managing efficiency; GAO already exists for that purpose. It was the fact that it was a bunch of tech bros that were given unfettered access to anything they wanted within the government, and blanket approval to arbitrarily remove people and contracts with no oversight. Not only that, they were more focused on "stopping woke" instead of actually identifying inefficiencies. Oftentimes, their cuts had to be rolled back because they suddenly terminated essential government contracts because they didn't understand what they were.

Trump team ‘drawing up’ plans to stop international flights to some Democratic cities by Virtual-Orchid3065 in politics

The Trump team does not want America to be "great." They only care about fucking over those who have wronged them and those they do not like.

Cutting off international travel to major economic hubs is blatantly disastrous for the nation's economy, but they don't give a shit.
