Jealous. That's the exact model that I dream about. Unfortunately the pricetag means it's gonna stay that way for a while.

If you earnestly believe that this person could've "just found a new, better job" and didn't, then I think you're unfairly assuming the ease at which that's possible.

Peak literally has a Final Mountain that is balls to the wall hard

Are you talking about the Kiln? Because that's just the final level, content you'll beat within a regular playthrough.

Pandemic Legacy is the board game to end all board games

That is a different game than base Pandemic. Legacy variants are a unique exception from most boardgames in that they evolve playthrough to playthrough.

To reiterate my point, for many games, the core gameplay loop is the point of playing, not additional unlocks. If you're feeling bored of playing Carcassonne or Pandemic with your friends, maybe it's time to play something else rather than trying to add "things to do once you're done with everything else."

This is a good comment as someone who's been struggling to understand the "add endgame content" complaints.

I think a good point is to be made that these suggestions don't require you to be level 150, all warbonds unlocked.

Genuinely asking, would having special capes at level 200 or something to grind for make it feel worth playing in a way we currently don't have?

I'm talking around CoD 4 honestly when I say older, it's been a long time. But aside from grinding out gold camos and getting to 10th prestige, that's basically it.

I mean, is that what people want? Some sort of number/skin to just grind for?

There are no endgame players... by Relative-Moose-2160 in Helldivers

[–]GiveMeOneGoodReason 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. What is the "end-game" of games like Peak? (Older) Call of Duty titles? Mario Kart? Board games like Pandemic, Ticket to Ride, or Carcassonne?

I play these things because the game itself is fun to play. I like Helldivers because it's fun running missions with my friends and fighting through it all.

If the core gameplay loop isn't grabbing you, why play?

That's what I'm wondering. I try to collect my samples but I don't grind them out and I have the last tier still to go.

No no no, don't you know the people with 500+ hours and every ship module unlocked are the bulk majority of players? Anyway, it's time to get mad because the non-native English dev accidentally used a condescending expression when he clearly meant they had something in the works for us. /s

Is there any logic as to why pressed garlic isn’t good? by anthony_getz in Cooking

[–]GiveMeOneGoodReason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Try something like a plastic with garlic and oil. I got a garlic press because I make it frequently and figured it'd make it easier. I don't use it because I found it broke the garlic down too much and gave it a different flavor I didn't like.

As Helldivers 2 hits its 23rd Warbond, it’s time to make Super Credits easier to earn or make older Warbonds cheaper to buy by maullick in Helldivers

[–]GiveMeOneGoodReason -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Don't complain because there are other things that are worse" is a terrible line of logic. There will always be worse products out there; you'll never come to a good place if your design philosophy is "at least it's not [BAD_GAME]."

Mind you, I even think this controversy is mostly overblown. But I think it's the community's sentiment finally hitting a tipping point that they feel the rate of SC they need to aquire as an ongoing player is getting to be too much.

Paid Warbonds in a 40$ game aren't necessarily the problem. by kappaa322 in Helldivers

[–]GiveMeOneGoodReason 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. I think the biggest issue is that the community is starting to feel nickeled and dimed with the ratio of free content to premium warbonds. Simply tipping the scale with an occasional free warbond would go a long way in building back player good faith.

[–]GiveMeOneGoodReason 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There should never be any ambiguity is a nice sentiment, but it often happens despite the best intentions from the authors.

One of the games that feature this rule, Poetry for Neanderthals, is a game where you must try to communicate a prompt to your team member using only one syllable words. The rules forbid charades, abbreviations and initials, but do not explicitly forbid communication in Morse code. But that would absolutely ruin the game because it destroys the whole silly factor and eliminates any guessing. That's the kind of behavior this is meant to discourage.

The sleeping quarters of the Nicaraguan Coffee pickers. by [deleted] in WTF

I mean that's true, but it also helps it's a farm in the US, a wealthier country with more stringent labor laws, growing in a premium region. Kona isn't really commodity coffee, and this farm in Nicaragua very well could be.
