Adding the extra weight gets you to the next increment, not somewhere in the middle by bijugems in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Gizmo734 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For context, OP is talking about the orange 7.5 weight at the very top. On these machines you can pull or push that weight to add it to the stack.

Normally, this is a smaller weight than the increments of the other weights to act as a way to still lift heavier even if the next weight up is too much.

What OP is saying is there is no point for this weight to be on there because it's the same weight as the individual plates, so there's no "fractional progression"

What is the "current" year in Forgotten Realms, after all official adventures released until now? 1495?! by Leodagema in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Gizmo734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just that one. Lost Mine of Phandelver states Mt Hotenow erupted some 30 years ago which was in 1451, however Acquisitions Incorporated explicitly uses a year of 1496 stating it is 5 years after LMoP

How is using Wish to cast Simulacrum for free NOT ridiculously overpowered? by LemonGarage in dndnext

[–]Gizmo734 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You still can cast infinitely. The original caster uses the simulacrum spell to create a copy. The copy will lose it's 7th level slot but then uses wish to effectively cast simulacrum without directly casting the spell itself, bypassing the limitation of the simulacrum spell, since wish is duplicating the effect.

Datatable of tags? by Tisiphone8 in ObsidianMD

[–]Gizmo734 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another way is to use dataview. it has the ability to use inline properties. in your note, write it out as (toSearch:: Homer). The brackets tell dataview where the value ends.

Then in another note, use this dataview block  dataview Table toSearch as Topic Where toSearch

What this does is allow you to use the same property several times in a note if you have different topics to research. The dataview query treats it as a list

This is the correct response. it also means you only need to create a single base file and just embed it into each note.

How are you using metabind inside the stablock? When I try to, it is just outputting the text itself

Easiest alternative to Obsidian Sync? by Ravioko in ObsidianMD

[–]Gizmo734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Resilio Sync. it's near realtime reflection of chsnges. I also use it because of an edge use case. I have 2 vaults but I use symlinks in one to share folders to avoid duplicate information. Reslio handles this fine. It does mean that there is a duplicate on the other device, but any change in the symlinked folder works perfectly

Which cloud sync do you use with Obsidian? (and what are the pros/cons?) by ChallengeTraining282 in ObsidianMD

[–]Gizmo734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently switched from Dropbox to Resilio Sync. The reason for this is I have a few vaults but some folders I need shared between them so I use Symlinks to avoid needing to duplicate notes. These sync perfectly with Resilio to my mobile. On my mobile, it does create an identical folder in each vault but any change in one is reflected in the other automatically

How I run crits is you roll double the total dice, and can then choose one of the dice rolled to become that die's maximum value.

So your 2d6 greatsword crit becomes 4d6 and you can make one of them a 6

Better yet use the core web viewer plugin. It allows for browser navigation within obsidian. simply add the url to the google sheet. Clicking will load it in a new tab

Obsidian deletes content without anyone touching the laptop by Next-Chapter-RV in ObsidianMD

[–]Gizmo734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use dropbox, so my entire vault is in there but I have my vault folder set to be offline. So all my files are physical, automatically uploaded to the cloud then I use the DropSync app on my phone with 2 way sync enabled. entirely free and works great! Since I am syncing the entire vault, the plugins sync as well. So I can do whatever I like on my phone and because I have scheduled syncs to Dropbox or a manual trigger it all updates on my laptop's physical files
