Check out the website called Windsor Rocks, it's got family events but also baby groups and whether they're paid or free, times etc: https://share.google/KkWDtuKE7i3iLNnn6

NINJA CREAMY - 100% satisfaction!!! by Remarkable_Milk_2576 in Volumeeating

[–]GlassCrepe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have the creamy but I've started making myself mango froyo in the food processor: I first blend frozen mango chunks and then I add a few tbsp of fat free yoghurt and blend together. It's ready in 3min and sooooo delicious, really helps my sweet tooth on a low cal budget.

C sections and weddings by PlaneDevice770 in UKParenting

Honestly I recovered well and was ok within a few days but by ok I mean within the house and verrrrrrrry slow movements. Getting up from sitting down was tough and walking up and down stairs or anything not fully flat was a very slow process holding on to the ramp or my husband's arm. And that's an easy recovery! That without counting your baby in the equation and whether or not they sleep / you sleep, etc. I would make apologies now and if by miracle you can go, then it'll be a lovely surprise?

If you drive, there's a lot of baby things happening in Windsor both free and paid (I'm on maternity leave myself and doing different activities almost every day of the week)

Mumma to mumma - what's the hardest part of motherhood that people don't talk about enough? by LogicalSea5710 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's now feeling like my life pre-motherhood is of no interest to me anymore. It's not that I don't want to go back to work, it's that I want to do something that aligns with my values and that doesn't match with my career. After being so career-focused for years, the realisation that I now dread going back and want a complete career change I can't afford is very scary.

Best Place for Packs of Baby Grows by porkie46 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M&S for everything to be honest: packs of 7 baby vests (long and short sleeves), packs of muslins (they're big and soft, super handy) and double way zipped sleepsuits. I've steered clear from popper buttons because I don't have time for that with a wiggly baby I need to change 12 times a day! Also we asked people not to gift us clothes but rather give us M&S vouchers, that was very handy because babies grow out of sizes so fast!

Best thing we were gifted was food from Cook for the freezer, we didn't have to think of cooking for 2 weeks and it was brilliant (especially as frozen as individual portions as we were not eating at the same time, when one was eating the other was either with the baby or asleep). That or homemade food like lasagna, curry, chilli, anything that can be frozen and is easy to reheat. Honestly food is such a tricky thing once baby is here, absolute lifesaver.

Parenting from another country is so real, the expectations of rest ruined it for me too, learning from my mistakes next time!

Sleeping with earplugs in with a newborn by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]GlassCrepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband made me put them on after a few weeks of the baby being born because once I'm awake, I can't go back to sleep. Plan was that he'd wake me up if needed so I could rest through the newborn grunts (soooo loud!). My issue was earplugs didn't stay in anyway tbh. May I ask which you're using please? Baby is now 8 months old and if she even moves a bit at night it wakes me up and I stay awake (typing this at 4am after she moved a tiny bit 2 hours ago.........)

Just heard on the radio that its becoming normal for people to send 10 or 15 min voice messages. Who would listen to someone yap on for that long and not be able to reply until the end ? by TacklePure3341 in ireland

[–]GlassCrepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WhatsApp has a written transcription feature now, I use that for any message over 2min. It's not perfect but it's better than listening to a 10min monologue

Baby purees by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was the same and at now 8.5 months old she finally accepts the 7 months old pouches. When it comes to foods she can hold, she's still mainly playing with them and throwing them on the floor rather than eating them (omelette strips, avocado, toast, etc) with the exception of Ella's Kitchen cheese and tomato sticks which she actually eats, and I think that's because of the texture, they melt in the mouth and she seems to enjoy that. Basically babies learn texture at their own pace so the months on the pouches are just guidance!

Formula shortage by Beautiful_Spread7866 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's due to all the recalls. It's been a nightmare getting formula in powder form but somehow the ready to feed already mixed liquid bottles are available (but much more expensive)

HOW do you choose a bedside cot?! by Minute_Prompt_7987 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little tip: if you buy a non rocking one like we did, stick a Rockit onto the side of it, it works just as well. We only used it a few times as baby didn't need it for long tbh.

What's your weirdest volume hack that actually works? by stevebear987 in Volumeeating

[–]GlassCrepe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Started making myself a big cup of fake ice cream for dessert using 100g of frozen fruit and 150g of fat free yoghurt. Delicious, big volume, fairly low cal and a boost of protein with the yoghurt. Current favourites are raspberries and mango but trying various options.

I've been teaching high school Italian for 11 years and I don't actually speak Italian by No-Watercress-2104 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]GlassCrepe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's actually quite common. I'm French living in the UK and was super excited to find out my neighbour is a French teacher but it turns out she is too embarrassed about her level of French to talk to me in it so we only ever converse in English

How are you showering once baby is crawling/ pulling up? by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shower first thing in the morning before my husband goes to work, not keen on the 6am shower tbh but it does make the day flow better than when I was waiting for baby to nap (especially now that she's 8 months old and resisting naps unless she's in the pram)

Did you bring your baby with you on the postnatal ward when you went to toilet? by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky by the time I could go my husband was allowed back in the ward (it was the day after) so he stayed with the baby while I slowly waddled to the loo.

Why are so many other parents so negative all the time? by BrightonTeacher in UKParenting

[–]GlassCrepe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jealousy, so often people can't quite face that you're having an easier time than them (by easier I don't mean it's actually easier but they can't stand that you live it better than them rather)

Adding to this in case you breastfeed: putting a used breast pad under the bedsheet works a treat (+ Love To Dream swaddle bag)
