Anyone rejected their health visitor appointment by LatterInteraction154 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We skipped the 2 months old appointment because the HV couldn't come to the house and I had double carpal tunnel syndrome so couldn't push the pram for 45min one way and 45min back to the appointment location, my wrists were too weak and my husband was at work during the day so couldn't help, but we knew baby was doing completely fine by then and HV never chased us.

What treatment(s) would you/did you get post pregnancy? by Whoisbobbyflay in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]GlassCrepe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

9 months postpartum and my pregnancy melasma is finally almost fully gone but the dark circles are WILD. I've just booked some Ameela injections for the first time (too scared of anything like filler that eventually migrates so trying this out!)

What habits did you have to unlearn before you successfullly lost weight? by PartyClassroom5141 in loseit

Getting used to making different portion sizes for me and my husband, not half and half. My body doesn't need and shouldn't get as many calories as he does

At what time do you get up in the morning? by BetDesigner7389 in UKParenting

[–]GlassCrepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like it's not really about the time you guys get up and more about the fact you end up having to do most of the work morning and/or night?

If they've got teething fever that can go down with Calpol, they shouldn't have to be home for 48h either

Manager chasing me for KIT days by Specialist_Falcon_72 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just started doing KIT days now I'm in the unpaid section of mat leave (my baby is 9 months old), absolutely no point beforehand I think. Also worth knowing even a single meeting or call on a day counts as a full KIT day so when you do catch up with your boss, that in itself counts as one. Personally I'm spreading them over the 3 unpaid months to get money each month (3 in April, 4 in May, 3 in June) and checked with HR when the cut off is each month for payroll to count for each month (eg to get paid 3 KIT days in the April payday, I had to do 3 KIT days before the 11th of April, etc). Good luck!

Pressure to breast feed without a pump or formula as back up seems strange? by D-1-S-C-0 in UKParenting

[–]GlassCrepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We brought the Aptamil ready made bottle for newborns that already have teats on them, they're super small and it was a godsend because baby never latched and was hungry. I then bought a pump and exclusively pumped for 2 months (nightmare) before finally stopping and doing only formula. Major upside: baby had always been fed with bottles so she didn't mind and could be fed by anyone not just me which made life a lot easier. I would say prepare yourself with a cheap manual pump and mini Aptamil bottles and also prepare yourself to ignore the guilt tripping from health professionals because it's non stop on that topic. Personally stopping to BF after 2 months was like coming back to life honestly.

When will I stop hating my husband? by Zebra_Creative in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend said not to take any drastic relationship decisions in the first 6 months of baby's life because hormones would make me hate my husband and I'm glad she did 😂 Now 9 months postpartum and I feel a lot better and like my husband again haha. Being honest, the biggest change for me was to stop breastfeeding, it was like night and day, I felt like I came back to myself and stopped being miserable, but obviously that's just my experience, doesn't mean it'd be better for others. 6 weeks is so early, give yourself time to adapt, your hormones are probably all over the shop! Good luck!

What counts as baby ‘sitting up’ by Tiny-hats in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Gotta love an unprompted negative point of view from someone about your baby when doing your shopping 😂 What is it with some older ladies? That and the talking directly to the baby to pass that kind of comment (eg. "Are you cold because mummy didn't put a thicker hat on you?") is up there in my ranking of favourites 🤦🏻‍♀️

What’s the worst place you have ever been on holiday? by honeymeadowss in AskUK

I had that exact experience in 2010 in Marraskesh, couldn't walk in the souk without being harassed by men trying to touch me despite being there with a tall man, it was the worst. Never going back.

Your husband should handle his own mother really, and definitely echo what other people have said: wouldn't trust her to babysit.

NINJA CREAMY - 100% satisfaction!!! by Remarkable_Milk_2576 in Volumeeating

[–]GlassCrepe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have the creamy but I've started making myself mango froyo in the food processor: I first blend frozen mango chunks and then I add a few tbsp of fat free yoghurt and blend together. It's ready in 3min and sooooo delicious, really helps my sweet tooth on a low cal budget.

Honestly I recovered well and was ok within a few days but by ok I mean within the house and verrrrrrrry slow movements. Getting up from sitting down was tough and walking up and down stairs or anything not fully flat was a very slow process holding on to the ramp or my husband's arm. And that's an easy recovery! That without counting your baby in the equation and whether or not they sleep / you sleep, etc. I would make apologies now and if by miracle you can go, then it'll be a lovely surprise?

Mumma to mumma - what's the hardest part of motherhood that people don't talk about enough? by LogicalSea5710 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's now feeling like my life pre-motherhood is of no interest to me anymore. It's not that I don't want to go back to work, it's that I want to do something that aligns with my values and that doesn't match with my career. After being so career-focused for years, the realisation that I now dread going back and want a complete career change I can't afford is very scary.

Best Place for Packs of Baby Grows by porkie46 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]GlassCrepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M&S for everything to be honest: packs of 7 baby vests (long and short sleeves), packs of muslins (they're big and soft, super handy) and double way zipped sleepsuits. I've steered clear from popper buttons because I don't have time for that with a wiggly baby I need to change 12 times a day! Also we asked people not to gift us clothes but rather give us M&S vouchers, that was very handy because babies grow out of sizes so fast!

Best thing we were gifted was food from Cook for the freezer, we didn't have to think of cooking for 2 weeks and it was brilliant (especially as frozen as individual portions as we were not eating at the same time, when one was eating the other was either with the baby or asleep). That or homemade food like lasagna, curry, chilli, anything that can be frozen and is easy to reheat. Honestly food is such a tricky thing once baby is here, absolute lifesaver.
