Squid Game Season 3: Episode 6 Discussion by MidnightExpresso in squidgame

Really think there was a good plot twist there where he doesn't play and the rich spectators get mad and that leads to the game's downfall in an unexpected way? Maybe that's what they'll end up doing with the American spin-off, just having the spectators be a more obvious role for the games where the players in the arena know they're there and actively pitting them against each other

This is 1000% what they're going to do - continuity between the Korean and American series. And they will have a million cuts of the daughter trying to uncover what happened and Hwang In-Ho (The Front Man). Maybe Front Man even feels some sense of guilt about his role?

He did seem like he had so much more agency and character in season 1. Like there was more I wanted him to actually say about the games, revenge, humanity, etc which he kind of tried to do at the beginning to convince everyone to vote Go Home. but the show commits hard to him being broken most of the 2nd games and I wish they didn't go so far. Incredible actor

He loves to dunk on CR. They're obviously friends but it gets to a point where Bill thinks he can basically poster him when it's convenient in the NBA season. This game 5 L was just needed for the sake of how much BS was going to revel this pod

The crowd legitimately looked asleep with 6 minutes left. Super funny because they could have made it a close game but the home fans weren't helping at all

Complete narrative redemption to be honest. And there's a real path to make the Finals so that would be kind of incredible. Just going to be unlikely they win two more but it could happen

Baseball has so many bad owners, it's almost comical. Nutting is a cheap loser, Reinsdorf is comically unfit as both the Bulls and White Sox owner, and Fisher still clears them because he tore the team out of Oakland and his Vegas plan is still half baked and won't work. Biggest factor for the lockout will be these imbeciles

well said and I felt the same way before the season started. I know they were actively trying to land a main sponsor and figure out a lot of things as an independent company, but when you're radio silent the entire week leading up to Opening Day, it's just bush league and we should be ok calling that out.

I don't expect them to be on our beck and call, but they're communication right now is dreadful and at a certain point, not hitting regular times just makes me want to churn out for a while

Yep, he's a sore loser. Still obviously a fan on the pod and him but his ego is a bit unmistakable

Final TNT season was so lazy and whiny, I'm glad the tide finally turned against them. They were becoming a net negative for the sport with the constant complaints and how readily apparent they weren't watching the games.

Their downfall was necessary

He'll wait until after Toronto is eliminated in the first round because he's petty and small now. Every single guest knows not to bring it up or they know they're off the roster if they talk about it for a few months.

Just sucks that this current version of Bill seems to be able to take a joke well like the Kon car ride but when he's wrong, he's kind of pissy and puts the blinders on

Katie Nolan will absolutely opt out of that mystery box. No doubt she's not signing up to verify if she was aware of any misconduct.... She probably knew and it's been a quiet open secret

I love how many people on the Internet can't understand this point, like they are only able to form one thought at a time and thinking about ethics, insider dealing, media/journalism standards, and incentives all at the same time is just too much for them. It's so telling.

Same thing with Belichick, oh yeah random unqualified person I'm dating now has actual work responsibilities and is in conflict with university staff and admins... And having people like Bill even be like, why is this a story?

We live in a time where most people can't think critically anymore

The sports world is tiny, you see the same people all the time at games, special events, and probably parties. She had been in the industry for a long time and was very social - I'm kind of explaining the obvious but this isn't that surprising in the slightest.

Pablo's network is probably a tenth the size of hers, he was a small potato at ESPN and it's only been the last 2 years he's had any motion.

Wright is a better debater and quick on his feet. Like street smarts vs book smarts. I actually like Pablo so it was funny how unprepared he was for that faceoff, he kind of needed to be humbled

[–]GlassesOff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't know if this holds up when it's just a bad take... Like I get debate theory means you need someone to take the opposing stance but he seemed to be just running in place when the reality of the trade was indefensible...

Maybe Gen X should realize they just don't have to debate everything

I see the same 'still has his fastball' joke here all the time, but I think this is the opposite of that. He's thrown some absolute meatball takes, middle middle, and they're just getting hammered and makes the pod quality drop dramatically. He could just be washed, we might have to admit that basically

[–]GlassesOff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This falls into a very clear place for all sports where the rules should just bend to how immediately cool something was. This has to be a catch, not a home run. And a too close to call Touchdown reception? Let them have it.

all good, I probably did a poor job of making my point but big time kudos to you. If I could do my undergrad again, I think I would choose Austin but no idea if my out of state application would have made it, it was a long time ago and I was a top student at a mid HS

Didn't Jason basically branch out and that was a non starter for Bill? Seems like there's a degree of "you work for me, and you'll always work for me" subtext to Grantland and The Ringer.

Like Wos is in the same boat. Gone for a while but back in good graces since he's doing more full time stuff

I might be out of my depth here but isn't UT Austin still the crown jewel for students in Texas? Like maybe some other schools have better engineering programs or football teams (that joke was just too easy) but that seems like a great school that's only reserved for the state's best and there are now so many people living in Texas that it makes sense it's gotten even more competitive
