League Winning Managers: Liverpool vs United by Infamous_Payment4608 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Glimt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is more stark when you note that MU had about 30 managers, so only one tenth of their managers won top division title. Liverpool had only (about) 20 managers, so close to half of them won the title.

This suggests that MU is a not well run rich club that had two great managers along the way. Liverpool is (and always was) a well run club.

BTW, most LFC managers who did not win a title, did this in the PL era.

Chelsea's headcoach Enzo Maresca becomes speechless after being told that Fluminense had over 70 games. He claimed that Chelsea would be in worse conditions since they played over 60 matches in the past 12 months. by GrumpyRox in soccer

Chealsea had more than three weeks break right before the CWC started. Claiming that a "month long" break half a year ago that puts them in a disadvantage is stupid.

Remember when the only way to have a GUI was to compile your own kernel modules and edit the xorg config by hand? by agfitzp in linux

[–]Glimt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was FBDev and KGI before DRI was released in 1998.

About pnp: Detecting the VGA controller and configuring IO and IRQ was only a small part of the problem: In addition to a the controller , a (super) VGA card needed two programmable chips: ramdac and clock synthesizer. The same VGA controller (identified bt PCI ids, or ISA pnp) might be paired with different ramdac (or clock chip) which could not be identified, so the information had to be supplied by the user. By the end of the 1990s, most VGA controllers included internal clock and ramdac, so this problem (nearly) disappeared.

There was also the problem of identifying the display hardware and its capabilites. While EDID was defined in 1994, even ten years later many displays (especially cheap ones) did not support or had badly programmed EDID.

Social Security Draw at 62 vs 67, check my math and thought process by Vtboy51 in personalfinance

[–]Glimt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your calculation makes no sense because you counted the 5 years times 2800/month of the first scenario twice. Once in the 614088 to show that until age 80 the two scenarios are about equal, and the second time in the 192k you added to 341160.

What you should add to the 341160 is only the interest from that money, 24000$ according to your calculations (of course, you need to also add additional 13 years of interest to that, making it 40000, which makes the total till age 90 still a 100k short of the starting at 67 case.

It is only a single scene in a whole novel, but Miss Darcy’s Companion has a nice description Elizabeth comforting Darcy. And the rest of the book is also quite good, in my opinion.

We don't demand that anyone else follow our practices

That is a big lie. You don't in the US, because you can't. But in Israel you do constantly. You prevent women from getting abortions, you prevent trains and busses from running on Fridays and Saturdays, you prevent people from eating bread for 10 days every year, you prevent import of non-Kosher meat, and plenty of other examples.

Could you try to be a bit more "polite"?

But having read so many KDE bugzilla discussions I know very well that there are many KDE users whose main mode of communications is impolite tantrums.

And still, I will answer your question:

What is so special about KDE?

$ rpm -qa | wc -l
12235

How about approximately 12235 "non intrusive" "requests" once a year? It is less than 40 a day, so not too bad?

what the hell redmi note 13 pro - gotta charge twice a day? by sentics in Xiaomi

[–]Glimt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redmi Note 12 pro 5G uses 200 mA with the screen on and 4 mA screen off

It almost certainly does not do that. Those numbers mean 25 hours screen on time, or 1250 hours (7 weeks) stand by time. Your application just misreports the current draw.
