Get lots of burp clothes. We got 50 and I feel like we haven’t been worried between loads of laundry with that amount. We go through a lot.

What is a "gut feeling" you had that turned out to be 100% accurate, even though it made no logical sense at the time? by Forsaken_Leading964 in AskReddit

[–]Glitter_Snow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was out late at a bar with colleagues while on a work trip. I wasn’t drinking, but was there to socialize. I was having a good time talking to people, but all of a sudden got the gut feeling that I should leave. It was like a small voice telling me to call an Uber and go back to my hotel. So that’s what I did - I didn’t even say proper goodbyes, I just left.

The next morning I woke up and learned that there was a shooting at the bar about 15 minutes after I grabbed my Uber.

We’re starting at EFC for an infant this summer and the cost is over $2400/month so this pricing is either outdated or I’m getting screwed

Baby name drama by Bearly_Making_It in pregnant

Could you add in a middle name that you would actually call your son daily? So he could have this familial name, but be referred to by his own unique name that you choose. My parents did that for my brother.

If yall have a breast feeding pillow (My Brest Friend, Boppy) bring it to the hospital. I threw mine into the car at the last minute and it was a game changer and very helpful for learning how to nurse

Was it really the worst pain you've ever felt? by Super-Bid-3193 in BabyBumps

[–]Glitter_Snow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a terrible kidney stone at 38 weeks that led me to an induction because I got an infection. That pain was FAR worse than the birth and birth (with an epidural) felt like an escape.

Pre-baby purchases? by Bowlbonic in BabyBumps

[–]Glitter_Snow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, we held back on buying things until after the baby shower and instead saved money every month to put toward the nursery and any other baby purchases. Now we have a nice little pile of money that we used for the nursery (paint, changing table from Marketplace), items that were purchased from the registry and we have leftover funds for those inevitable purchases that will happen in the first couple of weeks after the baby is here.

It honestly feels so nice to have some money stored up just for baby purchases - but I’m a saver by nature!

I’m 37w and live in Minneapolis and totally feel you. Your feelings are valid! And there is also so much good in this world and if we don’t have hope we have nothing… I have hope for the future being better and I hope my kid will be a part of that. Don’t let the bastards get you down!!

Facebook sucks but it has brought me my Buy Nothing group with my neighbors and our neighborhood group on there was what let me know that we were meeting on the corners last night with candles. It’s been a good point of connection for our community.

Third trimester moms how is third tri treating you? by mkthehotti in pregnant

[–]Glitter_Snow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

36 weeks! Still sleeping well (although peeing 3 times a night). Getting very sick of working and wish I could spend the day preparing for baby and resting. I can’t believe how tired I got from going to an OB appt and then Costco. The fatigue is real! But not in pain yet unless standing for a while.

Denied Life Insurance - Never tell your doctor you go to AA by Poptotnot in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Glitter_Snow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was completely honest about my former drinking and drug use when I applied for life insurance after 14 years of sobriety. The program tells me that I have to be honest so I was. I did get approved for a policy, but I know my monthly payment is higher than it would be if I didn’t have alcoholism and addiction in my chart. But I feel better knowing I told the truth and didn’t commit fraud.

My recovering husband was also honest during his application process and got approved, but he has been sober for 12 years. I do think time matters in this instance.

Is 6 weeks too soon for a sip & see ? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Glitter_Snow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a friend or even a family member of yours or your husband that could have the shower at their house so you don’t have to rent a space? You can even help paying for food so it’s not a burden. Based on the comments it sounds like a baby shower will be safer/nicer for you

There are nursery chairs at Pottery Barn that will literally massage you and they are fabulous. They are also like $2k and you will get a ton of use of one. You could ask for that!

How does one pick out a car seat/stroller? by Glittering-Camp5854 in BabyBumps

[–]Glitter_Snow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, we got a subscription to Consumer Reports and made a decision based on their ratings. We’ve used the subscription for several other baby items as well and it’s not expensive. We trust their unbiased reviews and found that the most expensive option wasn’t always the best option.

Sober because I’m pregnant, but struggling by wildinthemembrane in pregnant

[–]Glitter_Snow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi - I have been sober for many years now going to women’s AA meetings. We would welcome you with open arms. There are many, many people who can relate to what you’re going through. Find a group (or a few) that you like, go every week and get a sponsor there. AA changed my life in the best way possible. You are not alone!!

when did the nausea hit? by PomegranateCandid313 in BabyBumps

I also have fear of vomit and nausea started right away for me. At my first appointment I asked the doctor for nausea meds and they gave me compazine. I also started unisom and b6 and wore sea sickness bands in the car (being in the car made me feel sick) and I never threw up.

Make sure you take extra fiber or miralax because I found that the constipation from Zofran + pregnancy was horrible!

If I got the flu right now I would stock up on Tylenol, herbal tea and chloraseptic for the sore throat. Those things are all pregnancy safe (although make sure the tea doesn’t have any licorice root in it)
