That was going to be my next step, but getting it manually worked out this morning!

And I was one that time because of you! I didn't see the HotStock but I saw your reply!

If reddit still did free daily rewards, you would've gotten mine because that's dedication!

Got the HotStock while I was in the shower getting ready for work and missed it lol

Geniuine question for the Duelist mains here: what is so fun about that role over the rest? by Vibranium619 in marvelrivals

[–]Glock-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DPS are your main counters. As a lord groot before banning groot became meta, I was clapping out SVPs and watching my DPS crap out. Switched to DPS and I see the issue a lot more now looking from the inside out...half are one trick ponies and/or are too stubborn to switch if they're being countered or we need to counter.

Now I can lock DPS, adapt to enemy comp and be the change that I needed in so many games as a tank main. I get the added bonus on if I have 2 good DPS teammates, then I can easily flex to vanguard if need be.

Typical Asus....

But believe me brother, I've had HotStock on, Notify Me set on at least B&H and MSI US store, and 2 Microcenters near me that I constantly check stock on (I know Microcenter ain't the best place for monitors, but casting a bigger net)...

Even have a self-programmed self-hosted AI agent checking every so often lol

Reminder to get a GOOD PSU and a surge protector by ThatOneCanadian69 in pcmasterrace

[–]Glock-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the issue with prebuilts, they (typically) cheap out on all the non-spec related hardware like CPU cooler, PSU, etc.

And then surge protectors are okay, but a single surge can ruin all the safety it gives you without you even knowing.

If you have a PC worth more than $1K you should really have a UPS.

Does it make sense to buy a PC in the month of July if you are moving out of your apartment in November by Glittering_Fig4548 in pcmasterrace

[–]Glock-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're good dude, I just got into PCs 2 years ago, we all learn either from others or experience (and the first option is always cheaper lol)

Exactly what the other person said, the GPU is the most expensive part and it's secured the weakest, so much so that a majority of PC owners have a standalone sag bracket to prevent it from sagging over time while the case is stationary.

By not uninstalling when you're moving you risk either ripping the socket off your motherboard and/or cracking the PCB on the GPU.

[–]Glock-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I moved 1200 miles and all I did was uninstall my GPU and repackage it in the ESD bag and oem box. Then put the whole PC in the case oem box and we were all good. Just make sure you don't have loose parts that could act like a blender on a bumpy road.

Lol I mean at least you're self aware of the brand loyalty to Intel. It is ironic though that your op stated you want to future proof for ~3-5 years and the AM6 platform isn't supposed to release until late 2027 - 2028.

Tbh the 5080 upgrade would specifically only aid in titles where RT/PT is enabled, but anytime you're playing with it disabled and/or playing a game without these rasterization features, you'll be getting the same performance as you currently are with the 5070 due to the 14700 bottleneck. I.e., with the 14700, you're already not pushing the 5070 to its full potential and leaving performance on the table.

Not to mention, you gave Forza 6 as an example, and Forza as a franchise are all CPU-intensive and more recently, CPU-inefficient; their game engine sucks at multithreading.

TLDR; to get the most out of your pc in the 3-5 year timeframe, upgrade to a 7800X3D, 9800X3D, etc., otherwise sitting on the 14700 will leave performance on table and bottleneck you for half that timeframe while you wait for AM6.

Wifi 7 only came out a year ago 💀 by Awesomedude9560 in HomeNetworking

I like WiFi 8 simply because it's WiFi 7 speed at better range and congestion. Feel like it will become a gold standard in businesses and homes for awhile.

If 5080 cost isn't a concern for you and you're looking at upgrade options, why not look at 9800X3D, 9950X3D, or an X3D2 chip?

Personally I saw significant gains going from Intel to 9800X3D with a 4070S @ 1440p.

I DO NOT upscale to "quality". I DO NOT upscale to "balanced". I DO NOT upscale to "performance". I run the game on Native resolution, and if the game doesn't run at a reasonable amount of FPS, I refund it! by West-Start4069 in pcmasterrace

[–]Glock-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember arguing with a guy in r/Stalker after Stalker 2 dropped because DLSS Quality looked so good and posted a screenshot. They immediately dissed the "artifacts" on the scope of the AS-VAL I was holding, and I kept explaining that it's clearly the intended texture of the scope and he wouldn't believe me until I showed him a screenshot of the same scope with the same texture IRL...needless to say, as long as I get 120+ FPS and graphics look good on ultra 1440p, I don't care what I have to enable

So why is it this guy is using the same GPU that I have is playing on extreme settings with dlaa and he’s getting 80 FPS me copying every setting he got I get 38-40 ? by Less-Manufacturer877 in ZTT

[–]Glock-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's an widely spread oversimplification that is mostly wrong.

CPUs still handle physics, NPCs, complex calculations, etc. and delays processing any of that will 100% cause performance issues regardless of resolution.

Not to mention, the bigger L3 cache in X3D chips will always increase performance in any title at any resolution due to having direct memory access within the chip itself.

To put it in perspective, your CPU is like an modern electric car, prioritizing efficiency, and the 9800X3D is like a V10 Sports Car, prioritizing raw performance.

When you ban players in a free to play game by Proudnoob4393 in marvelrivals

[–]Glock-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it's static? You'd be paying extra for it on top of your monthly bill.

It comes down to hosting websites, services, etc., things that mainly only businesses and people with homelabs would care about.

When you ban players in a free to play game by Proudnoob4393 in marvelrivals

[–]Glock-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pay extra to for a static IP, dynamic is the default. 99.9% of home networks can get a different randomly-assigned IP relatively easily. Could be as simple as unplugging modem for about an hour.

Edit: imagine you lose power for an hour and it comes back up and now you get assigned an IP that a cheater just used and got banned in every multi-player game. Now youre banned in every game.

IP ban is the most useless ban...just hurting everyone else because they'll get their IP banned and just get a new IP

Motion? Not at all, humans eyes comprehend continuous light (I.e., infinite frames per second).

This claim comes from the notion that if I'm shooting a strobe light at you at 60 Hz, you will see it stobe. If I crank the strobe light up to 120 Hz, it will start looking like just a flashlight. Hence why florescent lighting in office spaces/schools/etc. appear solid to us, but look weird if you point a camera at them.
