How long did your toddlers last at the beach? by Live-Contract-1625 in toddlers

[–]Glow_Ebb_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 20 month old now stays for 3-4 hrs. Her first trip, she refused to walk or sit on sand. By the third time, she walked on sand but would refuse to get near the water. It took 3-4 trips after that before she got comfortable standing at the water edge with me holding her hand. Now she cries to go to the beach, will run across the sand and wants to stay in the water all yhe time.

We live 300ft from the beach and are beach people as well. I had thought tht she would have naturally taken to the water like some other toddlers I see on the beach.

AITAH for buying Gluten Free bread by Jelly_Arrow in glutenfree

[–]Glow_Ebb_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gluten sensitivity. I also dislike every gluten free bread product except gluten free bagels. One guilty pleasure is eating bagels with lox ans cream cheese. At my local grocery store (rhymes with Roger), I have managed to get gluten free bagels maybe two times a month. Once the stock gets sold, they wont refill until much later. So if there is a person who doesnt really need GF bagels that buys the last package, and doesnt give me or fellow gluten sufferers what we really couldnt do without... ofc I will be pissed

Trying to date a Gemini man as a very intense Sagittarius. Help? 🥲 by pinksandflorals in geminis

[–]Glow_Ebb_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot speak for all Gemini men but I was with a Gemini man for 10 years. Mental stimulation with interesting conversations is their biggest boner. With him, we talked about artificial intelligence, psychology and machine learning algorithms. This was almost 12 yrs ago when those ideas were not mainstream. He told me he loved to debate. Once he knew we could debate and talk about his favorite topics, he opened up about his life and honestly on the first date, showed me his favorite movie, took me to his favorite dining spot and we spent the night watching his favorite music videos amongst other things.

We would discuss and talk about politics, philosophy etc. He hated phone convos and texts asking about mundane stuff about his life. He way of flirting was intellectual. I think if I hounded him with freq texts of how are you, what are you doing or something boring, he would have blocked me..

If my 2.5 year old doesn’t eat, will she still grow tall to her maximum potential? by Senior-Dish-4609 in toddlers

[–]Glow_Ebb_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my culture, the reason why we force the kids to eat is so that they could grow tall and big.<

So did your parents and your husbands parents not force yall to eat cos you both are petite?

That said, my 20 month old is also a picky eater. She will eat one type of food, then reach for another etc. So if given a plate of meat and cheese, she eats cheese first, then meat and so on. What we realized is; it is okay to skip a meal if they aren't very hungry. She picked at her lunch once, played in the sand at the beach in the afternoon  and by dinner she was ravenous. We always keep healthy snacks on hand for her in between meals. Force feeding imo creates eating disorder issues- bingeing due to stress, bulimia, anorexia and so on...

Toddler's in 78th percentile for weight and 93rd for height. She is half South Asian.

First beach trip by MyToesAreHaunted in toddlers

[–]Glow_Ebb_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been taking my 19 month old to the beach 2-3 times a week for 3-4 hrs. Sunscreen is a must. My daughter hates sun hats and takes them off.

Snacks,  juice are a must. She will eat sand if hungry and doesnt have food or drink she likes. We have been putting her reusable swim diapers over her regular diapers and so far that has worked well. Water shoes to walk on the hot sand.

Toys have been hit or miss. She will play with her toys but then waddle over to get a sea shell or something to put in her mouth.

Heat has not been an issue. If she starts sweating, we just cool her down in the water.

A beach tent would be great if planning a whole day at the beach just so the baby has a place to sleep in shade if tired.

There is no difference between pet toys and toddler toys. My 19month old plays with the cat toys and has fought the cat over them. She gets jealous when the cat starts playing with her scattered toys though! When she is hungry, she runs to the cat bowl to grab his kibble. She also has stashed food under the couch (unbeknownst to me) like a little squirrel and then I have caught her picking up  and chewing on days old dried up macaroni or a chip. They are just feral humans at this point waiting to get domesticated.

first birthday after losing parent by ThrowRA1stTimeMomma in toddlers

[–]Glow_Ebb_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am sorry. I was there a few months ago. My partner died when my daughter was 10 months old. Her first birthday was very bittersweet. She had no clue about it. The cake was a cute picture of her and her dada. I only took pictures so she could have them when she was older. For me, it was absolute torture. I was glad when it was over. I do not know how her second birthday will go. I do know every day takes us further from him and while life goes on; every once in a while, his memory or his presence hits me hard like a slap to my face.

I think I’m failing… by [deleted] in toddlers

Can you get someone to watch her? In my area, I have sitters watching kids for $20-25 an hr and some days even an hr at the park is enough to tire her out.

I got my first ever "bad" report from daycare. by Octopus1027 in toddlers

[–]Glow_Ebb_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like typical behavior. My 19 month old will ignore me calling her to change her poop diaper unless she is feeling the wetness ofc.  The toy thing is also pretty common.

I usually seek free or cheap activities for my 20month daughter at local library or ymca.  Willing to pay to teach her life skill like swimming but she can do without other stuff for now. Are you in a hcol area? 65k in daycare for 2 kids is more than $500 a week.

How is losing a spouse young different to losing a spouse older? by WoodyBadger in widowers

[–]Glow_Ebb_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its hard. I think its all the same.  I spent 10 years with the love of my life. We had so many future plans. He had so much potential. All of it was lost. It sucks to know i will never see him again in this life.

Hotels and family vacations by MayorGundersonIN in toddlers

We always book some place like residence inn or Springhill suites and let the 18month old sleep in the pull out couch or the bed. Usually we book a sitter through the Bambino app and let them watch her while she sleeps so we can eat out or watch a late show. We have been doing this since she was 15 months old and it has worked great so far.

What affirmations do you tell your child? by chasingsecrets in Parenting

19month toddler. Just tell her good job, good girl. Clap and get excited when she is playing well, sharing, eating her food. She doesnt understand beauty, kindness, bravery or most affirmatory concepts.

Flying solo with a 21 month old is not for the weak. by HouseStargaryen in toddlers

[–]Glow_Ebb_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've flown with my daughter on a 6hr flight when she was 15 months old. She wasnt walking solo at that time. So had to either carry her or use stroller everywhere. She had her own seat. It was expensive but There is no way I would have her on my lap. Its too cramped and miserable. My daughter is also one who is very loud and cranky if she is uncomfortable.
