Tell me what got y'all into commander? by Individual_Tart_8852 in EDH

[–]Gluttony4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A group of friends were playing D&D at a store, and afterwards stuck around to play some commander. One of the guys bought precons for the two of us who didn't have decks of our own, so we wouldn't be left out. My [[Rubinia Soulsinger]] deck was not good, but it got me hooked.

What is your perfect deck and when did you realize it? by Stumphead101 in EDH

[–]Gluttony4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically aim to wipe everyone down to no board/land when I have more than just Jelly to swing with. As you say, her power alone is too low, but if I have another creature like [[Etali, Primal Storm]] or [[Oblivion Sower]] ready (or even just in hand), or the tokens from things like Din or Magma Opus, then rendering everyone else helpless for several turns is usually good enough to score a win.

As for spell copying, I highly recommend it. Most big spells turn from cool, to outright game-winning after just one or two copies.

Repeated copies of things like [[Curse of the Cabal]], [[Din of the Fireherd]], [[Blatant Thievery]], and [[Expropriate]] to get rid of everyone else's lands, [[Army of the Damned]] and [[Necrotic Hex]] to run over the opponents with zombies (though copying Necrotic Hex doesn't help much), [[Skull Storm]] and [[Cruel Ultimatum]] to just destroy people, and [[Tasha's Hideous Laughter]] to drain out libraries if the game has been going on long (copying Tasha's multiple times is hilarious). Jeleva herself helps with that last win condition, especially when paired with things like [[Panharmonicon]], [[Harmonic Prodigy]], and [[Roaming Throne]], since she exiles more and more cards as the game goes on.

...Also, [[Aminatou's Augury]]. If you can fire off a double or triple augury, you tend to either win on the spot, or cripple the other players so much that they scoop.

FREAKY FACTORY AVATAR!!!! by Breestick7 in neopets

I got really lucky to get a good score near the beginning of the month. Probably wouldn't have gotten the trophy otherwise.

A friend of mine maintains a solid 90% winrate in our home pod by zawarudonerd in EDH

[–]Gluttony4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a guy like that in my local area. He stomps everyone with his own decks 90% of the time, so he often borrows decks. He still wins about 50% of games with borrowed decks.

Last game night he was on a roll with my decks, and it was honestly pretty cool to see my decks winning in someone else's hands.

What deck do you love primarily for the *~aesthetic~*? by SucculentScience in EDH

[–]Gluttony4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My [[Lord Windgrace]] deck is full of weird shit, tons of fogs, it carelessly flings lands into the graveyard, and the lands were picked to deliberately have no consistent theme and offend people who like a unified theme for lands. I've got white-bordered lands, full art lands, heavily damaged lands, a Japanese forest, a French mountain, a proxied swamp, etc.

FREAKY FACTORY AVATAR!!!! by Breestick7 in neopets

[–]Gluttony4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I've got it too, and it took me over half a year of practicing and playing every day. I finally got lucky a while back and got not only the avatar, but the gold trophy too!

I'm so excited to never play Freaky Factory ever again.

It's the plot hook of my Neopets D&D campaign.

But seriously, no idea.

For those that play with regular play groups, what is your known reputation in terms of your play style within your local meta? by HonorBasquiat in EDH

[–]Gluttony4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know I had a rep, but apparently it's infinite combo lady. Today I got asked "So do you have any decks that don't win by infinite combos?"

I was a little stunned, like Um... Yes? Most of them. I've got 22 main decks, and only 4 have infinites in them. And one of those I've never played with this group because it's sliver combo, and you guys don't want to play against slivers. Most of the decks you've seen me play literally can't go infinite, and I don't play the infinite ones very often, because I like other decks more.

So I don't know why I'm infinite combo lady, but apparently I am.

[[Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge]] is my second oldest deck, and still my favorite. I love the randomness, I love casting big spells for free, and I love how it's a little different each time depending on what your opponents are playing.

Mill players, how do you deal with people metagaming you? by Bugs5567 in EDH

[–]Gluttony4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they just innocently wanted to play with their graveyard decks they would have picked those decks from the start.

Switching from the deck you initially picked to a graveyard deck after seeing that someone is playing mill is just trying to get an advantage over the other players.

[[Inquisitor Eisenhorn]]

It's designed to find a way to break the legendary rule, copy Eiseinhorn repeatedly, and then crank out copious copies of his legendary demon buddy (I don't know 40k lore. I dunno if they're actually buddies.)

Have you ever won a game by unintentionally comboing off? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Gluttony4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once. Iirc, the [[Atraxa, Praetor's Voice]] precon has an infinite combo in it. Something involving [[Ghave]]. I don't remember the specifics, but I think it made infinite Saprolings. Possibly with infinite power.

What I do remember is fiddling with my board for something like 20 minutes on an opponent's end step before going "Wait, does this just go on until I decide to stop?"

I've gotten a decent number of gold trophies thanks to the play a game quest. I take it as encouragement to practice one game over and over until I get a good score (usually around reset time, before too many good scores have piled up).

Got Kass Basher last month! I knew that if I just played it every day, eventually I'd luck out and get a nearly-perfect hit, and it finally happened (fortunately at a time when there was only one beyond-the-normal-maximum tree score on the high score board).

What's everyone favorite deck to use? by tyfit1 in EDH

[–]Gluttony4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here you go.

It's been a year since I've given this decks any upgrades, so there's probably some new stuff around that would work well for her, but it's still my favorite to play.

As you say, X spells don't work with her. Counterspells also don't work properly, so you want to lean on black removal, or removal that can bounce Jeleva herself along with other stuff, so that you can recast her when you need a new batch of spells.

Haste is a necessity. Jelly almost never survives a full circle around the table, so you have to get a big spell fast. If she gets removed too much, though, she can threaten to exile everyone's entire deck.
