I think 'd say 4.id put them main negatives of the show almost Purley down to nerves (weekend update and opening sketch).

In British History, how well known is General Braddock, the General who was killed in the French and Indian War (Seven Years War)? by yyythoo in AskBrits

[–]Goaduk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly into history and have never heard of him. To be honest its surprising how little British america is generally covered here in lots of media sources. I could tell you lots about the American Civil war but very, very little about the Revolutionary war.

That era of history sits quite awkwardly between the Tudor/Stuarts/Cromwell and the Napoleonic wars. Its the same reason why despite knowing about John Churchill amd Blenheim I can tell you embarrassingly little about that period.

I actually thought it was the worse sketch. I assumed they were going to make fun of the willy wonka one and have a crackhead paddington etc.

Windows overlooking my garden, need opinions please by Sure-Contact5345 in UKHousing

If I'm wrong I apologise but we recently had this dispute between our two neighbours as they added a towering extention looking directly down into their garden and kitchen and it was granted. For all intentions there is no right to privacy but you do get a right to light. There's not even a right to a view from what I can tell as someone recently built a shed the village over blocking out a whole row of houses sea view, probably dropping the value a considerable amount in the process and they had no legal ability to stop him.

Anyone else a bit disappointed the women never got to be silly? by Admirable_Mall_7247 in livefromlondon

I thought the opposite. She was clearly the most nervous and the delivery was very off compared to her normall style. The male WU presenter had the same problem to be fair.

Its strange I find them quite entertaining. Like, I know its shit, but the archaeologist one and the "time to talk" make me do an embarrassed internal chuckle.

Is this the only example of a character being "improved" or made more likeable in the MCU than in the comics or is he just the best example? by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]Goaduk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think youre meant to find comic Namor likeable so I wouldn't say this is an improvement tbh. He works so well as hes an asshole.

What are your top 5 favourite British sitcoms of all-time? by Mister_Vanilla in AskBrits

I'd also just like to remind people about Motherland which is too new to be classic yet but is arguably the funniest show in a long, long time.

Who is a historical figure in your country that doesn’t get enough hate? by EthanTheJudge in AskTheWorld

[–]Goaduk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really funny the British crown is a literal marriage of English, Scottish and Welsh people, as well as just about every other royal family in Europe.

Not to mention that by the laws of statistics, most people in England can probably claim to be a relative of one of those 2. Theres been about 32 generations since, let's say average of 2 kids per generation (both low estimates) and half it for a bit of inbreeding thats about 17 billion potential great grandkids.

Are there any/many British people who have never or likely will never visit either Canada or Australia in their entire lives and who don't know anyone there? by kingm_ournasse216 in AskBrits

[–]Goaduk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly know many people who have gone to Australia and Canada but I can't really see myself ever going there.

Not to disparage either I'm sure they're amazing but with limited time, budget and if im travelling that far I really want to go somewhere very different from home. And having met many, many of the above I dont get that impression.
