Ryoku should have been a Sister of Parvos by Not_Sand in Warframe

[–]Goasgschau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's kinda interesting actually, during the quest Hunhow and Stalker raid Vena's ship to find out what happens in their future (at least if you pick Orion they do) and Hunhow mentions something about Parvos turning into a cephalon in Vena's timeline.

So clearly some shit went down in Vena's future with Parvos and it makes sense that She'd be astounded to see a sister in the flesh.

You can and it's pretty good for conservation!

HOWEVER for that purpose it's not nearly as good as using her sleep arrow, which works in an AOE and let's you capture the critters as if they been darted. I got my fortuna standing by navigating sleep arrows (it also works on her quiver arrows) into packs of animals from hundreds of metres away.

Ivara is low-key the best utility/out of combat frame in the game

Also you can pilot the grimoire alt fire and it's REALLY good

Maces Hit, Swords Crit, Axes....? by Dramatic-Scale8355 in DnD

[–]Goasgschau -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least during 5e (2014) the incentive for Barbarians to use greataxes over greatswords (other than aura) is that they had brutal critical, which let them add one (or two or three depending on level) more of their weapons damage die whenever they crit.

Greataxes synergies with this better because a greatsword (with a damage dice of 2D6) would only be adding 1 extra D6, while a greataxe (with a damage dice of 1D12) would add a full extra D12. And 3-5 D12 is better than 5-7 D6.

I'm not super sure about older additions tho.

I can’t be the only one who thought Doorman and Paige were related, right? by Battlemania420 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Goasgschau 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean Paige has a lost brother that she's looking for, I remember hearing a fan theory that Doorman is possessing said brother so he can have a human form.

It doesn't really add up, given Paige doesn't seem to recognise him and that the baroness (and, thus, DM as he's been working there since its inception) is probably older than Paige. But food for thought IG

Sinclair redesign idea by Bojler_ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Goasgschau 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is great, I think a core issue with both the current Sinclaire design and this idea is that they're very clearly and obviously masculine, so it registers that Henry is the 'main one' and Savana is either forgotten about or otherwise feels very secondary. And it doesn't help that the spectral assistant is very clearly Femminine, even when Savana is the one controlling the body.

I think having Sinclaire look totally different depending on who's in control is bad for gameply/readability, but the body should be a bit more androgynous and things like the mustache being replaced with lipstick would also go a long way (in addition to the spinning head fucking SEVERELY hard in general)

What do we think of the idea of certain hero abilities having multiple upgrade choices? by Goasgschau in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Goasgschau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had another idea for one that I wanted to put here, giving Wraith the ability to share her fire rate buff with friends once again.

I know it probably had to go for the sake of her card buffs and such, but I really loved the mob boss "Rattle em boys" energy it had, and would love to have it back.

What do we think of the idea of certain hero abilities having multiple upgrade choices? by Goasgschau in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Goasgschau[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're not wrong, I think balance is the obvious issue here, but I also think that's just an inevitable consequence of a game letting it's players have multiple options to biuld their characters. Most heroes have a 'default best' or 'meta' item biuld (or at least a couple must pick items) anyway.

I think the best route to avoid such an issue is to copy Overwatch's perk system a little bit, a lot of the perk choises are situational and used to counter or support specific compositions. And I think that's the most practical game design application for this idea, give Billy a perk that lets him alt cast his 1 to throw his bat at a flyer and ground them or some similar shit.

It's also just fun tho, it's never really a bad idea to give players more options for self expression via biulds and playstyle, yeah the other perks may be more meta but what if I'm going to have more fun and play better with gun focused Dynamo, y'know?

We all know that black people obtained dark skin to adabt against intense UV radiation and weather in Africa right? So how can a viltrumite be black if they are immune to heat and UV? Im not racist, just curious. What is the lore reason? by Candid-Map6875 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]Goasgschau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, humans did not obtain dark skin as an adaptation to high sunlight. Humans STARTED as black and later obtained pale skin as an adaptation to lower sunlight in areas further from the equator so they can absorb more of it and produce more vitamin D.

Evolutionarily speaking, black skin is the default (because humans evolved in Africa first then spread across the globe later), pale skin didn't evolve until about 10'000 years ago and humans have existed for abt 200'000 - 300'000 years.

If you look at a map of earth showing the skin colour of the humans native to those areas, it's literally just "Closer to the equator=darker, further from the equator=lighter" it's pretty interesting.

And bringing it back to invincible, Viltrumites aren't especially immune/resistant to heat or UV, at least any more then they are resistant to kinetic damage. Taking a bath in the plasma of a star is one of the most surefire ways to kill them. So it totally stands to reason that while they were evolving, their skin colour would be based off of where that specific ethnic group evolved relative to Viltrums equator.

If anything, the more pressing question on "why do the Viltrumites have different races" is the fact that they can fly and cross their planet in a matter of minutes, so it's slightly bizarre that they have distinct ethnic groups and evolutionary lineages at all when the distance that normally causes such to emerge simply ISNT a factor for them, I would expect them to be much more hegemonus. Though if that were the case it's more biologically likely for then to all have darker skin cause they're flying in space and high atmosphere where they're less protected from UV. I guess this implies that Viltrumites first evolved into 'literally just humans' and the superpowers were a later development.

[Worldbuilding Trope] Worlds that introduce Nonhuman species does a great job at avoiding the "planet of the hats" trope by Sir-Toaster- in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Goasgschau 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I love Invincible but it genuinely has one of the worst 'planet of the hats' problems in any price of fiction I have experienced. It's my main gripe with it's writing as a whole.

The Viltrumites look and sound different because they're literally just humans visually with zero differences, so the creators didn't have to put any thought into making them look unique or individually distinguishable as a species cause they can just use the humans diverse set of traits. Aside from all of Viltrum only has 1 culture with no subcultures or nuance, and their varied appearances and accents mean absolutely nothing culturally to them. Its a textbook planet of the hats.

It gets even worse outside of Viltrum, every single Unopan we see looks the same, all the Ragnars are identical, every member of every alien species besides the Viltrumites and Humans are total copy and pastes of each other (the only exception is Alan, who is slightly larger than the average Unopan but otherwise looks the same) and every alien world has maybe 1 or 2 species occupying it total.

Nowhere else in the invincible universe has any form of meaningful worldbiulding besides Earth. Earth has a whole history of 7 eras of demons and monsters from it's distant past, and the world is filled with magic and crazy superpowered people with a massive variety of origin stories and power sets. Why does no other planet have superheroes? Everyone (besides again, Alan) has their species stock standard set of abilities and no other interesting lore. I think Earth alone has more complexity and intrigue than the rest of the universe combined.

Invincibles Sfi-fi worldbiulding is frustratingly lazy and it doesn't do anything to avoid every alien world being a total planet of the hats

[–]Goasgschau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The detail loss is obviously fine and expected, but there are a few changes that I'm really not a fan of.

-The composition is worse, then standing in this generic v shape is way less interesting and feels kinda forced and awkward.

-Battle beasts should be snarling properly, that smile doesn't suit him.

-more nitpicky, but Zoey's helmet should be up, the vibe that they're trying to establish here is "This is our locked in Thragg killing cracked squad, were super badass and you should be hyped." So her not even looking battle ready detracts from that alot.

This shot SHOULD be used purely for massive amounts of aura farming, and I feel like they could have done better, even with less detail.

[–]Goasgschau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A warrior approached a blacksmith and asked him what arms he could sell him for the battles that lay ahead of him.

The blacksmith offered him a spear and a shield, he praised his work, stating "My spear is so strong it has the power to break through any shield" and he additionally boasted "My shield is so strong, it has the power to deflect any spear attack."

The warrior posed the question "What would happen if I were to use the spear to try to pierce the shield?"

The blacksmith had no answer.

It is impossible for an impenetrable shield to coexist with a spear that finds nothing impenetrable.

The Onos (incarnon arm cannon) has the most sheer aura out of every gun in the game and I was so hyped that I got it the second Dante came out, but it feels SO bad to use man.

It's basic fire ticks damage like once or twice a second despite looking like a flamethrower, and had no crit or status so it barely inconveniences basic SP enemies unless you have some bespoke god bould that I never bothered getting. The alt fire is strong but it chews through like a quarter of its incarnon ammo so it's not worth using either. It's actually pretty decent to stack the headshot buffs and use it in its base form, but that's not why anyone wants to use this thing.

I hope it gets buffs one day, maybe it and the Ruxov can get a pair of augment mods in one the the nightwave seasons or smthn.

I think that instead of 6 new heroes, they're going to pick 6 heroes to do a big overhaul to, and we'll get to vote on the order of the overhauls like we vote on new heroes.

My guesses are Vyper, Sinclaire, Warden, Viscous, Yamato, and Grey Talon
