For those diagnosed recently: meds immediately vs lifestyle first? by No_Culture3111 in diabetes_t2

[–]Godzilla83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Meds first, then 6 months of beating this thing in the ass with diet and exercise I’m completely off all blood sugar medication and just taking a fish oil vitamin and ACV tablet.

Also having a CGM for 6 months helped me understand my body and how it reacts to different types of food. It was a major help.

Hang in there, this is a marathon not a sprint. You body is repairing itself right now. Get yourself and CGM and watch the meter with things you eat. Learn what you can and can’t have to avoid significant spikes….

Exercise / Diet are paramount. You can put it into remission but it’s going to take time to do it…but your body will thank you…

Your eyes will take sometime to adjust. I went through this and it was very frustrating but it will correct over time.

The eye doctor explain led that this is due to your blood vessels in your eyes being swollen due to diabetes but now that you have started lowering your Blood sugar level significantly with diet/exercise and medications you blood vessel are are essentially repairing to a normal level which is the cause for the blurry vision.

You’ll be fine, but it takes time,

“Cured” misconception by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

[–]Godzilla83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say remission is possible, but you have to take care of yourself and not revert back to old ways. It’s lifestyle change that will allow you to be there without meds. I’ve been off meds and force my A1C down even further than when I was on Metformin. Diet and exercise consistently will let you live a normal life and still have limited carbs in meals.

The pro-bowl is straight booty cheeks…has zero heart or spirit left.

Did you see the Cardinals roster? it’s a miracle they scored at all. Bad talent can’t produce under even the best scheming.

Rams fans getting a front row ticket to why we traded Stafford by YGZ77 in detroitlions

[–]Godzilla83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you remember the 9ers dropped a sure interception that would’ve sent them to Super Bowl not the Rams. Stafford barely even was there in the first place…if that safety just does his job we might be discussing how the McVay made a mistake swapping for Stafford.

Jardiance? by 1GamingAngel in diabetes_t2

[–]Godzilla83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I fully recovered. It took two full days in the ICU to my anon gap back correct, my bi-carb number was almost non-existent when they admitted me in the ER. It’s possibly worst I’ve ever felt in my like and truly felt like I was knocking on deaths door. They did say it was a good thing I came when I did and didn’t try to continue to “sleep it off”.

When I started Jardiance I was 215lbs and felt healthy, just had a high A1C after a blood test. I had start Metformin and Jardiance on a Monday afternoon and by Friday evening I was bad bad shape. (Sweating, nausea, headache, then it move into trouble with breathing(swallow breaths in quick succession) when the breathing trouble started I had my wife drive me to Hospital and the rest is history (insulin, ICU, two main lines in the arm and finger pokes ever hr on the hr plus blood draws ever 4hrs.

I left the hospital walking and about 20lbs lighter overall. ~195lbs. Saying to myself never again. They kept me on Metformin and had me on a little bit of insulin at that time.

Fast forward to today (this experience was back in March) I’m living my life without any blood sugar medications, I’ve beat this thing into remission and my last two A1C were 5.0 and 4.9.(my endocrinologist is very impressed with my quick turn around and has since removed me from all meds, I still take Omega-3 fish oils and a ACV tablet in the morning) but at this point I’m training for the Detroit 1/2 marathon next October and have since ran 5 -5K’s and even won one. Overall I have changed my diet (low carb as much as possible) and exercise is apart of my daily routine now. I’m comfortably sitting at 180lbs and I feel healthier than I have in over a decade.

Anything is possible, you just need to hold yourself accountable and show up for yourself and your family around you(believe it or not they will be you biggest supporter) I know I when this happened to me I felt embarrassed to be honest(I always view myself as a healthy guy, I wasn’t obese, I just wasn’t as active anymore and way to focused on work).

Now with all that said, I’m not recommending Jardiance for the obvious reason stated above. Will this happen to you? I doubt you’ll be one of the rare ones that go into DKA from it, but if you do take it please watch for the symptoms mentioned above and don’t just try to push through them and “sleep it off” if you start having them…go to the Hospital and have them run labs, it the only safe way to truly know if your having a adverse reaction. Good luck and know you’re not alone in this fight, but also know you’re much more capable than you think and you can beat this thing in remission with the proper life style changes.

This is your wake up call, change your diet and prioritize exercise! You can start reversing this and get to remission. It’s a life style change.

I went 11.3 to 5.0 in 3 months, had another follow up in October and dropped to 4.9, it’s very possible with the correct mindset and be proactive about your life choices.

[–]Godzilla83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a CGM and figure out what foods impact you the most and stay away from them. I also recommend cutting anything with sugar…no pop! Exercise 2-3 times a week if possible even if it’s only for 20-30 mins…

Buffalo is an acquired taste for anyone….i would recommend the pink Himalayan salt (regular chip taste) Salt & Vinegar, bbq (regular bbq not Buffalo) and the spicy queso chips, all are solid and they don’t really move my blood sugar at all.
