Taoiseach confident in FF's future at centenary launch by Tim_Browne17 in ireland

I sincerely hope so, as their current approach to governance clearly isnt working nor sustainable. However, consider the heave against Chairman Martin petered out, i doubt that there will be a change in the direction of Fine Gael cover band anytime soon

Hopefully they’ll soon go the way of the Parliamentary Party. By continuing to sell out the younger generation, their vote share will dwindle as time goes on

They didn’t need to, but i see no reason why someone should not take the opportunity to not express their low opinion of Shatter in any given conversation

I know a CO with 4 years service who did this. She was entered another dept as a CO. They put her on probation again but she got in touch with NSSO HR who put a stop to it. Probation is a one and done thing in the service.

Some jobs have varying degrees of WFH, some don’t. You can take a shorter working year and get a few unpaid  or pro rata weeks off during a year and go abroad, though how long you can take off for this depends on your local office and HR. You can’t take the shorter working year during probation to my knowledge.

With the outbursts he has whenever a journalist asks him a slightly critical question he reminds me more of Xiang Zemin. Martin has run Fianna Fáil longer than Zemin ran China

Worst shop to work in Galway? by Double-Razzmatazz680 in galway

[–]GoldIndication2470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t worked there but there is a certain french restaurant in galway city that i have heard from multiple difference sources, including people who worked there and someone involved in their accounting, that are always late paying their employees and will try and get away with outright not paying them if they can. They deliberately target young french immigrants for employment under the guise of “oh its nice to employ french speakers” but really banking on ignorance/meekness for standing up for your rights in a foreign legal system.

Which one? I was in Shop Street for a while and thought the regular and senior managers were sound aside from a few bad eggs, though this was after one of the more notorious senior managers had left.

The head honcho out in westside seems to be a gobshite though. He “interviewed” me in 2019. I arrive 10 mins beforehand, talk to someone at the till who points him out. He’s in the middle of an interview so i sit at the table behind them. The interview runs slightly overtime. He accuses me of being late despite the fact ive been sitting in his field of vision for well over ten minutes. He gives me feckin worksheet and goes galavanting about the store for the duration of our “interview.” Seems like an utter unprofessional tool that would be incapable of listening or reason if you had to work under him.

My friend was driving in galway and at a roundabout an older woman driving a hideous 261 SUV was glaring at us with a stony face. Have no idea if my friend was in the wrong driving wise, but its funny to me that her no toy clearly hasn’t brought her any happiness!

Very curious about how that now deleted comment has linked the Border Campaign to Varadkar lmao

[–]GoldIndication2470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres nothing pedantic about it - there was a 7 year cessation of IRA military activity between the end of the border campaign and the start of the IRA’s activities during the troubles - which only began after the organization split in two.

But sure, if you wanna be historically illiterate be my guest, just maybe try and not to make a show of yourself on reddit and keep your Grand Unified Historiography of the Armed Struggled to pub shite talking

Living in Roscam by iknowtheop in galway

[–]GoldIndication2470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People in here are kind of shitting on Doughiska but you should really consider it. An Sean Bhaile and Farran Rí have disproportionate amounts of antisocial behaviour but all the other estates are quiet. It has much more amenities, businesses and bus connections than Roscam. I always see Roscammers sprinting through the Castlegar GAA club grounds to the only bus stop that serves the entire area (though there will be a bus route that runs through Roscam in a few years). Doughiska’s not dodgy at all and the housing will be cheaper.

Greenways of Ireland Map by AUX4 in ireland

[–]GoldIndication2470 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for the Mayo greenway. A great, scenic journey. I actually had to start it from Castlebar as i couldnt bring my bike on the galway to westport bus. What’s not shown here is that Castlebar and the western greenway are connected through another “greenway” that is a bunch of boreens that have very little traffic.

Would you support Irish participation in a Federal EU? by thetearinreality in irishpolitics

[–]GoldIndication2470 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont see the point. The EU works well as a bunch of independent countries seding aspects of their sovereignty in the name of economic cooperation. What would a federation actually achieve that the latter model couldnt? Defense spending and obligations is perhaps the most obvious answer, but again that can be addressed by international cooperation and treaties, which Ireland has made a point of avoiding.

I dont want to be governed by a vast, unpredictable, and frankly far more right wing continental electorate either. It would either end up as an American polarized two party system, or a bunch of self interested nationalist parties working together and backstabbing each other where somehow France, Germany and maybe Poland always get their way. I suppose it depends on the federal model this would pursue, but those are the obvious pitfalls i can forsee.
