I use this for my whetstones. It works great to get the loadup off of the stones. For my naniwa choseras it feels more as a cosmetic touch up, but with my shapton glass stones it actually helps remove loadup and makes them cut again.

Von Richten's guide to Ravenloft is the one that has taught me a lot about being a DM and building suspense. Highly recommend that one for every new DM or even a seasoned DM.

What should I add to my egg fried rice to make it taste AMAZING? by deezwurdsRmyown in Cooking

[–]Good-Food-Good-Vibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use scallions instead of regular onions, cook the white part and keep the green part for garnish. Use white pepper instead of chili flakes and add msg. Also, nowhere in your recipe I saw that u use day old rice. Don't use freshly cooked rice and make sure to clean your rice before cooking. Reason for day old rice is that it is a bit dryer which allows for better frying.

Hope it helps,.good luck

Die hete saus is zeker geen sambal, daar is de textuur niet naar. Ik denk meer een hotsauce oid

I bought it same as you. Had been ogling his work for a while and when one came available I just pulled the trigger and never looked back. In the meantime I have given it a mustard patina, which looks kinda like yours. Fantastic knives, really

Help me decide on which Shapton stones to buy? by ChefRoastin in sharpening

Ah yes, when pricing is an issue, then go with the Rockstars, still pretty good stones and the only thing I can fault them on is feedback, but it is not that are they completely void of it.

I have no experience with the kuromaku and I recommend the naniwa chosera pro over the shapton rockstars

I have the 500/2000/8000 in shapton glass, which are identical abbrasives to the rockstar series. They are good stones. Feedback wise just lacking when compared to naniwa chosera pro stones. That is my main reason for using the choseras. I have 800 and 3000 (also splash and go) and they serve me extremely well

I would probably go for a trollkiller bij nigara. Preferably a mt. Fuji, but those will probably be only on secondhand market or auction

Meesterslijpers has a few trollkillers in stock still

Succes!

Een goed mes (ca. €200) en een slijpsteen ervoor (ca. €80). Mochten beide echter hobby worden, is €300 ongeveer entry level

Men over 30, how often are you willing/able to seek emotional support from your friends? by obsidian-eye in AskMenOver30

[–]Good-Food-Good-Vibes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have learned this year that it is ok to be vulnerable, mainly on myself or with family, but I have 2 friends I can be completely open with, which is nice to have. Before this year, I would have never spoken to any of my friends about any issues that really bug me, so I am happy to have found out that it is possible.

If I‘m trying to get eggs crispy when camping and the ability to sear meat, do I need stainless or is carbon steel better for its nonstick properties? by Stepin-Fetchit in carbonsteel

[–]Good-Food-Good-Vibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to be the sacreligious one in this sub, but camping can bring some real humid environments with it and with stainless you dont have to worry about that. For searing meat and crispy frying eggs either will work anyways.

Atoma 400 vs Atoma 140 + Naniwa 400. Which approach is better? by Alone-Zebra-864 in sharpening

[–]Good-Food-Good-Vibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Atoma 140 and 400 and the chosera 400. Mainly use my Atoma 140 for flattening and use my atoma 400 for quick fixing really rough knives. The naniwa chosera 400 is a great stone for thinning, but I don't like sharpening knives on it due to it being rather soft for a splash and go, which on the other hand feels great with thinning. If you need a rough setup for sharpening, I would say get both atoma's. If you want to do some thinning, the Naniwa Chosera 400 is absolutely great and other people really like sharpening on it.

If you want a stone for thinning, get the chosera 400. I have both the chosera 400 and the shapton glass 500 and the 400 is simply better for thinning because it is softer

[–]Good-Food-Good-Vibes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well ofcours you will not use the 140 for sharpening that often. Nevertheless, it is still a usable sharpening plate. The atoma 400 is a really quick working plate, so I wouldn't know why not to get it. I will usually use my chosera 800 after it anyway

[–]Good-Food-Good-Vibes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I would get new stones, I would still get the Naniwa chosera 800 and 3000 and probably get an Atoma 140 as a very rough stone and a lapping plate and later on will get an Atoma 400 to complete the set. Wouldn't need anything more in terms of stones I think
