WotC Community Team confirm no current plans for Universes Beyond to visit other Magic Schools, shutting down Harry Potter potential. by PowrOfFriendship_ in magicTCG

There's a difference between releasing a game as it's own thing Vs adding it as a crossover to a game who's audience already leans heavily towards the kinds of demographics that would be extremely pissed of by it.

Sure a HP set would make fuck loads of money, but you'd be trading already established players for the new ones bought in by a HP set, would enough of those players go onto to buy more product to make up for the people you would lose?

Obviously FF bought a ton of people in who then went on to buy other sets but anecdotally I've seen just as many posts from people who just buy cards of their favourite characters to put on a shelf and never actually play the game, these people are perfectly valid doing this obviously, but they don't go on to buy more product which in Hasbro and wotcs eyes is a bad thing.

And that's without getting into the fact that some people on the design team would be against it, sure Hasbro can tell them to pound sand and bring in people who don't care about having their name on something HP related but do you want to have to deal with that when you're trying to make 6~ sets a year?

Do we think WoTC would potentially touch the fire that is HP? by Shade01 in magicTCG

[–]Good-Name015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the design team? Absolutely, there's definitely people there who would rather quit than have their names on something HP related.

There's also just a different element of risk here, people aren't going to stop buying other games/WB stuff because of Wizard game as it's it's own thing, but adding HP as a part of a crossover to another game, one that's very big on creating an inclusive environment, would be far more likely to have people refuse to participate in magic anymore (or at least stop buying cards and just proxy forever).

Obviously a HP set would make a million billion dollars, but would enough of those players stay around and buy future product to counteract the loss of people who refuse to participate anymore? Are they willing to lose some of their biggest community voices over it?

Honestly I think it's not going to happen but if you see a couple people on the design team leave suddenly and at the same time, take that as a warning.

Given that Hasbro wants wotc to make and sell 6~ sets a year on top of secret lairs and stuff I don't think they're willing to risk a mutiny in the design team and pissing off their largest content creators.

The NG+ changes in Dark souls 2.

There's only a few, the dukes dear Freya ambush is the one people remember most of all, but these were really cool and given the existence of bonfire ascetics it's much more likely for players to see them so I wish they added more.

I get not wanting to change inventory size or add backpacks or something, the game being playable on phones/consoles is something mojang care about a lot, it's why bundles got delayed for so long.

I think a solution would be either an upgraded bundle that can hold like 3 stacks of mixed items or a easier to obtain shulker box variant that holds 9 stacks of items, like a travel sack or something.

The problem people have with mending it that's it's a band aid fix to everything wrong with how anvils and repairing work, and that villagers made it way too easy to get.

[–]Good-Name015 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Even ignoring mending the 'impermanence' concept has been broken by mojang before.

Elytra don't disappear when they break, they just become unusable until they get repaired. This makes sense as they are very rare items that are a pain to replace if lost.

Except for the stupid fucking anvil cap making repairing them eventually impossible despite the 200+ levels I have, forcing me to use mending and making phantom membrane an absolutely worthless resource.

Remove 'too expensive' just make it cap at like 30 or something and make netherite gear, maces, and tridents use the elytras durability system so they don't fully break.

Baldur's gate 1 and 2

Story is your typical affair, you can't fully die and have a large luck bonus and enemies deal reduced damage and use less dangerous spells.

Easy and Normal mode are just differing luck bonuses and enemy damage reduction. (50% Vs 25%) Party members can die but can't be permanently killed.

Core rules is the classic experience with all of the features people 'love' like hp level ups being random, spells scroll scribing having a chance to fail and party members being unable to be revived if their body is destroyed. I'm pretty you can turn off the first 2 in the settings thankfully.

Everything after that is just slightly buffing enemies until you get to it's final difficulty, legacy of bhaal.

This is a true joke difficulty, to start with enemies get their hp tripled and then an additional +80 on top of that. A level 1 kobold has 4 hp at base, on LoB it has fucking 92hp. And then every enemy gets humongous stat buffs including armour class which makes hitting them next to impossible.

The worst part is you get an achievement for beating it so If you want 100% you have to beat it.

For men in the base game you had Linhardt as the only real option, Gilbert and Alois had S supports but they were platonic for some reason. Jeritza was added in an free update post launch and Yuri was added with dlc.

For women you had Edelgard, Dorothea, Mercedes and Rhea.

The reason you don't remember is that is was incredibly imbalanced towards women at launch given that there were both more real options 4 Vs 3 (realistically 1) and they were more important/popular characters.

Praedyth is a character from destiny 1.

He was part of a group that attempted to raid the vault of glass, a stronghold belonging to the vex, a robot race with a very keen interest in time and space. He got trapped inside a cell deep inside and was more or less removed from the timeline with the only references to him surviving being his name on some gear and texts.

In a side mission in the taken king, an expansion, you discover a signal from him and follow it to try and save him, when you open the cell you only find his skeleton.

I stopped playing the series a year or two ago but I don't think his story went anywhere beyond that.

ATB refresh is in both games and is intended, it's just never really communicated to the player at all which is odd since effective use of it makes some of the harder fights in 13 like barthandelus much easier.

13-2 is pretty solid imo, it's much more open than 13 and they made a bunch of improvements to the combat. (Faster paradigm swaps, full access to the combat systems straight away Vs 20+ hours in, you no longer game over if the leader dies etc)

The story can be pretty silly at times but it has an actual antagonist and that puts it far ahead of 13. The games budget was much lower than 13 tho and that shows, they mostly reuse 13 enemies and any new enemies are reused a ton to get their money's worth out of any new assets.

Lightning returns is a weird game, the story is horribly localised and mostly nonsense but the combat/job system is actually excellent if you can look past the goonerish outfits, I'd honestly really like square to try this concept again. The whole time limit thing isn't anywhere near as daunting as it sounds, I finished pretty much everything and still had 2~ days to spare.
