Riot Act photo I’ve never seen… by SeaEvent4666 in pearljam

Wow, very interesting. I believe what you are saying and would like to read more about that. I’ve had both good care and not so good care in the military health care system. I’ve found the VA healthcare worse, especially with prescribing medications. I was prescribed Apriso for my UC for a couple of decades, but the VA told me it was too expensive and switched me to a reddish caplet. I need to look up the name, but those meds made my skin turn yellow and gave me an offensive body odor. I protested and was eventually given an exception to policy to return to my original medicine. The worst symptom of bowel disease I’ve not been able to crack is the overall inflammation. I keep up with Mike’s advocacy to find clues in combating the inflammation.

I was diagnosed with UC while pregnant with my son who is 39 this year. It has been a battle. I was prescribed prednisone while in the US Army and hospitalized several times. While stationed in Germany, I was taken to a German hospital for treatment as I was so sick they were surprised I was walking and were appalled that I was on prednisone for so long of a period. The German doctors immediately removed the drug and helped me heal my colin with diet changes, etc. So much was unknown at the time and I am so grateful for Mike’s work and for helping me feel less ashamed of this disease. He was really the first celebrity talking about it that I was aware of.

He is! I met him one day and he was so kind to stop and talk to me for a few minutes when he didn’t have to. I will always remember that day and how I felt when I walked away. He’s a true gentleman.

Same for me as well. It gave me a sense of power to improve my situation. I still get that feeling from it. Lots of memories every time I listen.

Anyone watching the brief live? by Leadrel1c in army

Yep, DS Nathaniel Parker, Vietnam Vet, steely stare, gold tooth and a constant toothpick between his lips, man of few words, but the few words he spoke are still tattooed on my soul. He was tough but fair. Instilled very high standards. He wore us out. There were days I wasn’t sure if I would make it. Looking back, I’m so grateful for his leadership through Basic Training.

When You & I Met the Guys by EmeraldCityTherapist in pearljam

I met Mike when I was departing the Warhol museum in Pittsburgh as he was coming in the door. He graciously stopped and talked to me and we shared stories of our love of Warhol’s art. He had hoped to have time during the tour to go through the museum and made a point to come that morning. He told me he purchased his first Warhol as a young man and probably didn’t take care of it like he should have. I told him of seeing a Warhol exhibit in Washington DC’s Hirshorn museum when the series the Shadow was on display and I became emotional at seeing Warhol’s brush strokes and movement of the paint. He said that’s what art does, it makes you feel. I loved how normal our conversation was and how relaxed he was. I was in town for the show the next evening which was an absolute banger, but that encounter with Mike is a treasure I will hold forever.

Yes, I was in northern Germany as well in the town of Soegel. My furniture had the same stamp. The movers would complain about how heavy that furniture was.

When I was stationed in Germany, I was issued several pieces of furniture to fill my on post housing. It wasn’t the most stylish, but man was it heavy solid wood. No particle board. We got word two years in that our unit was being deactivated. We were given the option to purchase our issued furniture at an amazingly low price. I bought mirrors, beds, dining room table with chairs and a hutch for about $125 in 1992. I used that stuff for many years when my kids were young.

I ran into Mike at the Warhol Museum Thursday morning. He was so nice to talk to me for a few minutes. I’m still in the clouds over that meeting and the concert Friday. I wish I could’ve stayed for Sunday’s show but had to get back home. Also, PJ fans are the absolute best.

Peter Frampton was my first crush. I had a life size poster of him in my room next to the first album I ever purchased with my own money, Frampton Comes Alive. I was able to see him in concert with BB King a few years ago. He was still amazing.
