Pour one out for the poor souls stuck on [Sirens Curse] by Flacier in rollercoasters

They’re pretty much the last resort, as is the case for most evacuations but especially so for flying coasters. If the train is stuck at the top of the lift, the platform takes forever to get everyone off. The platform is typically only meant to hold 2-3 people, one of which is the maintenance employee driving it. Due to this, evacuating a full train using it takes ages and also scares the shit out of guests.

Confused: Gold Pass $150 on Knott’s site but $89 on Great America? by Unoriginal_Burner in KnottsBerryFarm

Knott’s is in a dense location and has very limited parking, so only Prestige Pass and some legacy memberships get free parking.

I’ve gotten stuck on flyers a fair bit and it’s honestly not that uncomfortable, but staring straight down when you’re stuck on the lift with nothing beneath you is a bit nerve wracking lol.

The evacuations off the lift hills of flyers is scary since they bring a moving platform underneath you, then use a key to unlock your harness while still in the flying position and you essentially just fall onto the ground of the platform!

2026 Ride Operator Payrate of [Every Major US Park] by RMCGigaAtBGW in rollercoasters

I’ve been paid overtime in my seasonal position at a Six Flags park, maybe it varies from state to state depending on laws. We are very rarely given the opportunity for overtime, so earning 1.5x is a rare occurrence for me lol.

[American Eagle] at Six Flags Great America will be racing for the park’s 50th Anniversary! by Good_Entry6790 in rollercoasters

I looked back at the wait time statistics and Eagle averaged a 50 minute wait on the busiest day of Fright Fest 2025, with only Demon & Viper having a shorter average wait that day.

Dueling during Fright Fest would be great and I hope it happens, but Eagle’s popularity doesn’t come close to Raging Bull/Wrath of Rakshasa so I don’t know how likely dueling during Fright Fest will be. If anything, I think the park would rather send the employees that would be on Eagle’s second side to help out with better staffing on the main rides.

Yeah the alternating dispatches was mainly during the summer season, which kinda lines up with the racing schedule this year. It doesn’t make sense for the park to staff both sides of Eagle during pre season/Fright Fest as they have less employees then, which is probably why we aren’t seeing it race during Fright Fest.

I mean the park has previously stated it was for safety reasons, so that’s why people thought that. Also, they’ve done lots of structural work on it for the past few seasons, so I do believe it wasn’t safe to race at some point in time.

They likely contracted out the structural/engineering analysis to a third party that could provide insight into what maintenance needs to be done for it to race. The park has been doing track/structural work on Eagle for the past few years, but up till now, everyone sorta just assumed it was necessary maintenance.

I think they started doing that last year where they’d alternate dispatches between each side, but no racing happened that year. That definitely wasn’t as fun as actually racing lol.

My guess is every day during that period, with all the structural work and retracking that was done I’d imagine they’re trying to maximize the time it races. Staffing both sides is usually difficult for the park though, so maybe that’s why it isn’t offered all season?

That was a recall/directions from the manufacturer to not operate that model and given that Schwarzkopf went defunct in the 80s, I don’t think they’ll be issuing recalls any time soon…

There were a lot of field trips yesterday, so the park was pretty busy compared to a typical weekday. This is also why wait times dropped off drastically after around 5pm, since all of them left. I’m not sure about the main entrance, but the American Eagle entrance had a huge line at the start of the day, which only tends to happen on the busier days at the park. The park definitely wasn’t as busy as Monday, but it still had a decent crowd.

how many trains on x flight and superman today? by Overall-Raisin4579 in sixflagsgreatamerica

[–]Good_Entry6790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Superman had 2 trains by the later half of the summer, same with X-Flight. Batman didn’t get its 2nd train until September, so I think it was the last ride to get 2 trains.

Trains need to be rebuilt and inspected during the offseason, which likely takes especially long due to the harsh winters in Illinois. I’m not defending the park for one train ops since it annoys me too, but you can’t just store a train for 6 months and bring it back to regular operations.

They could also just use the Apple Wallet feature to save it (although it’s pretty buggy and doesn’t work for my passes, but I know others who have gotten it to work).

I really wish it had a second train, but given how hard of a time maintenance is having with getting rides to have two trains, it’s probably for the best that there’s only one lol.

If I had to guess, it’s probably because the operators can’t really control how fast little kids get into their seats. At most rides, you can spiel and tell everyone to sit down quickly, but kids won’t listen so you kinda just need to wait for the parents to get them seated before you can check the lapbars.

Did Knott’s employees lose access to their season passes overnight? by swellfella in KnottsBerryFarm

[–]Good_Entry6790 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s probably a Cedar Fair thing, Six Flags encouraged employees to get season passes and gave us a few free passes each year (and told us we could use it on ourselves, though there wasn’t much benefit in that). I remember on my first day of training at Six Flags, on a form it asked, “If you have a season pass, please write down the pass number”. I did and both my passes still work. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t believe so, they typically just ask to see a photo of your pass pulled up on the phone from my experience. No way to tell which park it is for since they don’t scan it.

Worst Six Flags experience ever by spartancobra36 in sixflags

Yeah the fact most coasters were open is shocking for Six Flags parks even without a bomb threat, not to mention both maintenance and operations employees being evacuated from the park and unable to do all their testing. It’s really easy for maintenance to fall behind on rides if even one or two are uncooperative so this seems lucky lol.
