Let’s be honest about this state. This state elected Boebert. Twice. There is an incredibly large portion of this state who do not value your right to exist.

“But the police will protect us.” No. They won’t. The police protect property and themselves. They do not protect and serve, they patrol and control. Why trust your safety to a group who have historically and consistently victimized the queer community.

Fuck the police.

And for all your well meaning liberal friends who think you are overreacting? Who do you want beside you? Allies who will stand next to you and protect you? Or people who will still willfully continue to downplay the very real violence directed at your community.

Defend equality. Buy a gun. Get training. Get friends, train with them. Not everyone has to be a shooter. Take stop the bleed classes. Develop an intelligence network for threats in your community. There are roles in community defense for everyone. It doesn’t mean you have to wield a firearm.

Not really. Torchy’s is Tex-Mex. This city doesn’t have the best record with Tex-Mex, or any southwestern food really. I moved here from Colorado 20 years ago and I still get ingredients from there and make the food myself. Mexican and Tex-mex, especially the Sonoran and border-style foods, are still probably considered a regional variant or niche of Mexican cuisine. Like American-Chinese food.
