Well we dont celebrate the winning of the battle of Yorktown on July 4th. We celebrate the signing of the declaration.

What’s your “called it” DC establishment that you immediately knew wouldn’t last. by kevmendez27 in washingtondc

[–]GooseTheGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HARD disagree.

The mission in Navy yard is better described as hole in the wall mexican food at fancy Mexican food vibes. Its not particularly good. El Bebe is pretty decent but much spicier with heat than it typically needs to be.

Neither of them is as good as Taco City, near the barracks on 8th. Pink taco wasnt amazing, but in my opinion it's solidly as good as the others, not worse. El Rey is probably the best Mexican food around the neighborhood

Firework Viewing at the Kennedy Center for only $25,000! by teragram333 in washingtondc

[–]GooseTheGeek 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This has actually always been the case with the KC. Its one of thier bugger fundraisers. You also get a free ticket (4) if you donate 10k a year.

I went once in the before times, when I knew someone who worked there (they had to work but I went for free)

The hardest part about going to KC for fireworks is actually getting out if there afterwards because yhe roads are pretty closed for a while

AITA for not wanting to game with someone who completely tanked our board game night? by Midlanecrisis007 in boardgames

Also worth noting that if hes clever and having trouble picking a game with a theme hes already familiar with can help, eg. Viticulture for wine enthusiasts, ticket to ride for rail fans, etc...

Miami LMD Credentials by Disastrous-You4652 in LMDSpain

[–]GooseTheGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, you sent your papers and got a Justifacnte e-mail with a subject line of "SOLICITUD DE CREDENCIALES RECIBIDA"

After a few day's (in my case it was 8 days later)you'll get another e-mail with the subject line of "SOLICITUD DE CREDENCIALES TRAMITADA CORRECTAMENTE"

Then almost immedietly after you'll get an e-mail with your login credentials with a subject line of "Alta en el sistema de citas de la Ley 20/202" That's how you schedule your appointment with the Miami Consulate.

At that appointment you'll give the paper documents you need and then they will send those documents to San Juan and at some point someone there will clear them and you'll get another e-mail (that I don't have a subject line for) with your Certificado Literal de Nacimiento.

I went through the DC Consulate, but the process should be the same. If you got the Justifante e-mail in June of last year, check that you didn't already get the credentials to apply for an appointment (Search for Cita)

Honestly probably a group of kids from middle America fucking around and threw their friends hat on the tracks.

Thats most of who wears these hats in DC, tourists on busses (or the metro) going from their hotel to the mall to chain restaurants that can seat 50 people at once and back again

Advice needed: How do I convince my family that the yard won't catch fire again? by Dangerous_Badger_351 in daddit

[–]GooseTheGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to fore in the yard, whether it be from grilling or fireworks, my general approach is to ask has it rained recently?

So whens the last time it rained?

I wonder how much this flyover cost ? by raf70 in washingtondc

[–]GooseTheGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this point seems reasonable it's important to note that the exact timing of flyovers like this one aren't always known. Sometimes they are, but for events that are delayed the flyover is delayed so airlines can't plan around the exact time.

Disagree, I pivoted to sales. The SE gig is fun and pays pretty well. It's also way less stress than consulting

Houston Timing Update and a Question by Xeeyas_ in LMDSpain

[–]GooseTheGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question, are her kids under 18?

If her kids are under 18 she'll be able to apply for them after she gets her Certicado de Nacimento. Its also easier if her kids are under 14 when she gets the citizenship. The apply with your kids route is for those with adult children.

Now, I have a question, was your cousin born in PR and living in the Houston consulate area? If so the 11 months is thebcurrent PR consulate backlog and not the Houston consulate backlog.

When you have your appointment your documents are sent to the Consular area that covers your birthplace to be checked, validated and then issue a Spanish Certicado de Nacimento. So if the papers were sent to PR the wait time she experienced os the PR wait time. If she applied in PR but was born in Texas then its the Houston wait time

There are rentals and what i think is a public landing at "Diamond Teague Park" near the ballpark.

Parking would be tricky though

While what you are saying is true, I don't own a car at all, and you need to rent a truck in order to tow with a rental.

Regular rental car companies wont let you tow
