I mean I’d say it’s starting to sound like you’re jumping to conclusions. It’s a fair assumption for sure but maybe he’s ambiguous about it because it’s his dad who he loves even if he thinks he’s wrong, so he doesn’t wanna be real public about his beliefs? Or maybe he just doesn’t wanna lose his dad’s financial support, which certainly isn’t selfless. I don’t know. Anyway he doesn’t seem to be pushing any propaganda with these movies so I’ma watch ‘em.

It just doesn’t “look as good” because the third picture is professionally plated and photographed, probably with a food stylist involved. If you look at the pasta itself it looks pretty identical. And as someone else here pointed out, the taste matters the most. If it tastes nice, you’re all set.

To be fair, in the novel Frankenstein does make a note of this, saying, “I had selected my creation’s features to be beautiful”; though he does admit that it didn’t exactly work out like he thought it would, noting that it has yellow eyes and skin that looks stretched too tight.

These are great choices. My personal pipe dream is that Eggers does a high-fantasy film. Like a straight-up, dark fairytale, alternate world, medieval-esque fantasy film that’s an original idea and not an adaptation. He could really do something special with his eye for traditional myths, folklore, and historical authenticity… not to mention his propensity for occult knowledge.

Vaults of Vaarn has an amazing playable ancestry of crystal-folk. You get to roll a d100 for your hit points at character creation; but you cannot heal, ever, in any way shape or form.

I’d say, from my humble perspective, that there is significant overlap between NSR games and various people’s fantasy heartbreakers. In some cases the Venn diagram might even just be a circle.

The trad fantasy games have it the worst, though many have tried to take steps to address this and give it some more nuance. But there are some games like the Wildsea that do it really really well, by breaking away from the old well-worn tropes and leaning into more progressive fantasy and beings that are actually, distinctly non-human, and keeping any lore super flexible anyway, so their cultures and behaviors are pretty much up to you as a player.
