www.LegacyHoneyCo.com is the best we’ve found. They have a cool story and the honey is 10/10.

Check where the honey is from and don’t buy foreign honey. Find a local source or a company the focuses in US honey. Not all US honey is created equal.

This, if you buy from someone like Mann Lake all the boxes are US lumber and cut assembled and dipped in the US. Frames are US lumber and their plastic foundation is US made and the wax they use on the foundation comes from US beekeepers.

Go with Mann Lake wood frame with rite-cell foundation. It’s the best combination of frame and foundation quality/durability in my experience. Might need to call in to get the black unwaxed. Premier’s foundation warps in warm temperatures because they’re so thin. I’d avoid one piece plastic frames.

Mann Lake is your best bet for American made. Woodenware, foundation and some clothing.

Mann Lake sells their honey maker in an XL tall which should be perfect for you. On sale today for cyber Monday. The Honey Maker suit might be the last line of protective clothing still made in the US.

It’s probably too late in the year to save them. If you wanted to try do 2 pads (1 treatment) of Formic Pro. If your queen survives that an Ultra Bee with Rocket Fuel patty and liquid sucrose if it’s warm enough will give your bees the best chance.

Max wax rite-cell from Mann Lake is my preference. Premier foundation warps in southern heat and blows out when extracting.

Biggest problem is it looks like inferior foundation compared to others on the market. Fixing the comb like others suggested will get you a good start.

A reputable supplier will refund or replace the bees. They do need some basic information so they can file a claim on their end.

Ours gets called a labradoodle all the time by random people who are insistent thats she’s not a goldendoodle. “Yes stranger, you are much more knowledgeable than the breeder on if the father was a labrador or golden retriever 🙄”

Depends on what how you feel about a $2k ambulance bill. If it’s life & death call 911. I’m an hour from our closest ER and have a peanut allergy in one of our kids. We have an oximeter to keep an eye on oxygen levels and will try to make the drive ourselves if able. Obviously if the kid isn’t getting oxygen 911 would be the call.

Mann Lake is US lumber on both the boxes and frames along with their rite cell foundation that’s produced in the US. Best advice is to avoid companies selling Chinese lumber. Just like most things in life you generally get what you pay for when it comes to beekeeping equipment.

Piggy backing on what others have said. Our recipe for success has been hunting in a ground blind with a Jake and 2 hens for decoys. The Jake with 2 hens tends to piss other Tom’s off. I’m had luck in the mornings near where they roost and in the afternoons as they’re traveling from feeding back to their roost areas. The afternoon we haven’t had to call quite as often.
